Reading the , going to Mass, singing praise hymns, speaking from the heart; saying the Rosary, or Divine Mercy Chaplet, or an "Our Father", reflecting on the lives Jesus and Mary, or praying the St. Joseph novena. W H Y D O W E H A V E Statues?

Statues are like memorials or pictures of loved ones who have passed away. They do not have power. Statues and Christian religious art simply remind us of heaven. like a picture of a loved one would remind us to think of them and be hopeful to see them again in heaven. Statues of saints, remind us of their example and God's great love for us. Saints are people in heaven whom we can pray to and ask help from. For example St. Anthony is very helpful in finding lost articles, St. Therese for help in making decisions, St. Christopher for safe travels, things like that. Catholics ask for help from saints when looking for a job, selling a home, passing a class, for recovery from sickness, and so on. Really anything you need in life can be assisted by the saints, because God is ready to help you and he "works all things together for good" Romans 8:28

W H Y A T R A V E L I N G S T A T U E O F St. Joseph?

St. Joseph was the man chosen to raise Jesus on earth. He was responsible to care for the Blessed Virgin Mary and the child Jesus. Joseph is, after Jesus and Mary, the greatest of the saints. He was so obedient to God and faithful in his lifetime, that we can learn much about Jesus by reflecting on the life of St. Joseph and asking for Joseph's assistance in every thing we need. Our Catholic Faith, embraces all of our senses, especially sight. So to have a statue of St. joseph during the 'Year of St. Joseph" reminds us of who he was and how we can live by his example. To have the statue travel between our homes reminds us of unity in the at Nazareth, the parish family of Sacred Heart, and the family of all our brothers and sisters in Christ, in our neighborhoods and homes.
