A few weeks ago, I arrived from Rome to visit the Celtic Britain. When I got there, I noticed that there were some minor regional differences between Celtic people. For example, houses in Britain and Ireland were typically round, while those in Gaul were rectangular. The Celts were more advanced than the Romans in some scientific aspects. I thought that the Celtic calendars were much more accurate than the Roman one. I noticed that the Celtic swords and shields were as good as the Roman ones. It was very interesting. There I learned that Druids were not only priests, diviners and astronomers, they were also judges, mediators, and political advisers who played an important role in declarations of war or peace. On the whole, I enjoyed my trip and I learned a lot about the people living there. I would advise the future travellers not to judge anyone before you know them. I didn’t particularly like the Celts, but now I look up to them. I think it was a good experience and I had a great time. Lilla Borzai (9NYD) TRAvel tips 5 Outdoor ideas

I kinda have a feeling that no one expected this year to turn out like this. The corona virus has been changing our daily life and freetime activities since March, and it’s giving me a hard time too when it comes to spare time or places we can go out at the weekends. Due to the virus, the government and health authorities are saying that we should spend our time outside in the fresh air. That’s a great opportunity for exploring the surrounding environment. Search for hiking trails close to you and ask friends to explore it with you. It can be really refreshing if you spend some time outside after a long week of school. Common places around Budapest that you can visit within an hour of travelling are the followings: Csillebérc and Normafa are really popular with hikers in Budapest since it’s easily accessible by bus 21/21A from Széll Kálmán square. Here you can visit Erzsébet-kilátó at János- hegy and travel with the libegő while admiring the beautiful view of the capital. Visiting Városliget can be a really great idea too since Budapest Zoo is open for visitors even in the winter time. It’s mostly an outdoor activity except a few of houses. You can explore the statues in the surrounding park or even visit Vajdahunyad castle too. As soon as winter comes, the Városliget ice rink will open its gates for visitors so If you’re a fan of ice skating don’t miss this opportunity either. Dóra Sebestyén (12E) christianity 6 The Greek Catholic Church

The Greek Catholic Church is one of the Eastern Catholic Churches. It has a beautiful tradition and liturgical rite, which is very similar to that of the Orthodox Church, but there are some parts which were adopted from the Roman Catholic Church. Greek Catholics are in full union with the Roman Catholic Church. We accept the pope's primacy. There is a lot of exciting information about these Christians, so let's get started. After the Roman and the Greek Church got separated in 1054, there were some unsuccessful attempts to reunite. In the North of the Kingdom of Hungary, the idea of the union started in the 17th century. The Munkács Orthodox Church agreed to a union in Ungvár, in 1646. 63 Orthodox fathers wanted to join Rome. The Holy Father received them, together with their believers. After that, more and more priests accepted the union and became Greek Catholics. The Greek Catholic Church has seven sacraments. Our Holy Mass is the Saint Liturgy, which has three parts. Our churches are ornated with icons. They are painted on wooden boards and depict one or more saints or Jesus Christ. We have a marvellous wall, which separates the sanctuary. It is called an Iconostasis. In the middle there is the royal door. Here the bishop and the priest can get inside or outside—the deacons just a few times. On the right, the first icon is Jesus Christ. On the left, the first icon is the Virgin Mary. Next to her is Saint Nicholas (in Hungary), and next to Jesus there is another icon. It is different in different churches. There is also the icon of the saint or the feast after which the church was named. We can also see the icons of apostles and the icons of the twelve main holidays. It is possible to see the icon of Jesus sitting on his throne in bishops vestments. We use a lot of liturgical dispositions: a chalice, a disk (Paten), a knife (Spear), the little spoon (Lavis), an asterisc (star). The dresses of the deacons are Anderi, Dalmatica, Epimanikia, Orarion. The liturgical dresses of priests are Anderi, Sticharion, Epitrachelion, Zone, Epimanikia, Phelonion. The liturgical dresses of bishops are Andrei, Sticharion, Epitrachelion, Zone, Epiminika, Epigonátion, Sakkos, Omophorion, Panagia, Mitre, Crozier. I hope it made you interested in the Greek Catholics and the Orthodox Church. The Pravoslavs (Orthodox Christians) are not equal to Byzantine Catholics, but we do have the same traditions and rite. We are siblings in Jesus Christ. Máté Fehér (11D) 7 Hungarian Greek Catholics in England

Once a month there is Saint Liturgy in Hungarian in London. The venue is the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Family in Exile (Duke street-corner of Weighhouse Street Mayfair, London). The three Hierarchs of the Hungarian Greek Catholic Metropolitanate went to this church to celebrate the Eucharist in 2017: Fülöp Kocsis, archbishop-metropolitan (Archdiocese of Hajdúdorog), Atanáz Orosz, bishop (Diocese of Miskolc) and Ábel A. Szocska OSBM (Diocese of Nyíregyháza). A lot of people emigrated to England, and there was a demand to have a community and a church where they can pray in their language and rite. In 2018 the organiser priest was Sándor Jaczkó.

Film review 8 Enola Holmes (2020) Enola Holmes is an adventure and crime movie which was directed by Harry Bradbeer. The main characters are Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Sam Claflin as Mycroft Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes and Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury.

When Sherlock's teen sister, Enola Holmes discovers her mother is missing, she decides to find her, becoming a super-sleuth in her own right as she outwits her famous brother (Sherlock Holmes) and unravels a dangerous conspiracy around a mysterious young Lord.

This is a really intriguing, exciting, intricate and hilarious story about the little-known Enola and her adventurous, mysterious investigation.

Log in to and solve the mystery.

Hubie Halloween (2020) Hubie Halloween is a comedy, fantasy, mystery and a little bit horroristic movie. The main characters are as Hubie, Julie Bowen as Violet Valentine, as Sgt. Steve Downey, as Walter, as Richie and so on.

The story is about a middle aged man, Hubie Dubois, who is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. Just before Halloween, someone escapes from the mental hospital and poses a threat to Salem. A new resident moves into the city. He behaves strangely and many people disappear. Hubie has to save Halloween and realizes that it's all about him.

In my opinion, this is a really enjoyable and hilarious movie, because it is full of comedy actors. I think this is a perfect Halloween choice if you would like to be afraid and laugh at the same time.

What are you waiting for? Check on Netflix. Krisztina Bujdosó (12E) Film review 9 Murder Mystery (2019)

Murder Mystery is a comedy and a thriller. The film was directed by Kyle Newacheck. It stars Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. The music was composed by Rupert Gregson- Williams. It is set in contemporary New York and Italy. The story is about a police officer, Nick, and his hairdresser wife, Audrey. They travel to Europe on the day of their 15th anniversary. On the plane they meet a billionaire, who invites them to his family’s yacht. However, a murder happens on the yacht, and they are accused. Nick and Audrey begin to investigate, but they have to hurry, because another murder occurs. But naturally, in the end they solve the case. Although it is mainly a thriller, it is very funny. The two can only rely on each other, because everybody thinks that they are the murderers. Nick and Audrey are very funny together, they constantly fight, but it is visible how much they love each other. I really liked the actors too. Jennifer Aniston is one of my favourite actresses, and I think she played very well here too. I also like Adam Sandler, he is also a very funny actor, and I think they are amazing together. I loved every detail, especially in the end, where we see the biggest twist, which was incredible. I strongly recommend it to everyone who likes comedies and mysteries. It is very humorous, exciting and gripping. Réka Takács (10D) Five Feet Apart (2019) The story is based on a book written by an American writer, Rachel Lippincott. The two main characters are Stella and Will, two 17-year-old teenagers who were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF). CF patients have to stay at least six feet apart from each other. That's where the title comes from, they try to erase one feet between them. The plot was inspired by a real-life couple Dalton and Katie Prager, who both suffered from CF. In today's world we can understand a bit more of their everyday life as it is not advised to go near each other. The whole story (more or less) is set in a hospital. Stella is uploading videos about her everyday life to educate people on how CF affects people. She is a perfectionist, she tracks and organizes her pills using an app that she made. On the other hand Will doesn’t care about taking his tablets as he believes that he has limited time and wants to make the most out of it. They begin to fall in love and once attempt to go on a date, but the question is: can two teenagers who can’t touch each other start a relationship? Watch the movie and you will find out. It’s definitely not the most nail-biting and action-packed movie that I have ever seen but definitely in the top 5 for me right now. I recommend watching it if you like romantic films. Brigitta Jakkel (12E) Film review 10 Roman Holiday (1953) I have recently seen the film Roman Holiday. I strongly recommend it to those who want to watch a classic and wonderful movie. The film was directed by William Wyler. It’s an American romantic comedy. It stars Audrey Hepburn as Princess Ann, and Gregory Peck as Joe Bradley, who is a riporter. The film won three Oscars in 1954.

The plot is about Princess Ann, who is on a state visit to Rome. She becomes frustrated, because she has many tasks, so she secretly leaves her country’s embassy. She meets with Joe, who at first doesn’t know who the lady is. Ann spends the night in his apartment. When Joe finds out that she is the princess, he immediately decides to write an exclusive article. They spend a beautiful day together. However, Ann realizes she has to go back, so they part.

Audrey Heapburn is one of my favorite actresses, and her performance in the film is amazing. Princess Ann is a very motivating character for me, and her style is brilliant. The costumes in the movie are stunning. I like the end of the film, because it’s realistic and not as predictable as the end in some of the current movies. Regina Oláh (10D) Cinema Paradiso (1988) In August I saw the film Cinema Paradiso, which is an Italian-French romantic drama. Directed by Giuseppe Tornatore in 1988, the film stars Salvatore Cascio, Philippe Noiret and Agnese Nano. The film won an Oscar and a Golden Globe prize for the best foreign language film. It is set a few years after the Second World War and it is about an eight-year-old boy, Toto, who loves movies. Altough his mother doesn’t like him being in the cinema, he spends all his time there. He also makes friends with the projectionist, Alfredo. The old man gives advice to him. After an accident Alfredo goes blind and Toto runs the cinema. Later, he also falls in love with a girl who is from a rich family. Toto is poor, so the family doesn’t support their relationship. There aren’t special effects in the film, but the atmosphere of the old cinema is wonderful. The characters are also fantastic. Sometimes they are serious but they are also funny. My favourite scene was when the priest shook the bell, because there was a ,,kissing scene”. That meant this part should be covered out from the movie. Cinema Paradiso has a beautiful soundtrack. The music was composed by Ennio Morricone. My favourite song is The Love Theme. This film was moving, because the little boy had a hard life. But it was also funny, beacuse of the many humorous situations. In my opinion, it’s also a gripping film, because the audience wants to know what Toto’s fate will be. I recommend it to everyone who likes dramas and love stories. Kinga Kerekes (10D) Film review 11 13 Going on 30 (2004) The last film I watched was 13 Going On 30. Made in 2004,it was directed by Gary Winick, and stars Jennifer Garner, and Mark Ruffalo. In this production, we are introduced to what would happen if a teenage girl’s desires actually became reality. Notwithstanding my low expectations - because body swap movies tend to be quite two-dimensional - I was thoroughly entertained. The plot revolves around Jenna, the young teenager who is obsessed with being popular. She has a chubby, but true friend Matty, who is the main subject of ostracizing, but he is hopelessly in love with Jenna. Her 13th birthday party doesn’t go as planned: Jenna ends up in the closet, crying, and repeating the title of Poise magazine’s article: “Thirty and Flirty and Thriving”. Surprisingly, a miracle happens with the help of the wishing dust, and her wish comes true. However, Jenna soon realises that this seemingly fabulous dream is not what she truly wanted. What I found absolutely remarkable, is Jennifer Garner’s very convincing interpretation of the 13-year-old girl inside the body of a 30-year-old woman. It is hilarious. Another fascinating element of the creation is that the young actors of the characters are almost identical to the adult ones. Although this may seem just a light-hearted movie, it carries thought-provoking messages and the ultimate moral of this story is to value your real friends, and don’t fall in line with the “cool kids” who just want to take advantage of you. However, some scenes are pretty hackneyed, therefore predictable, and even exaggerated, but I didn’t except any different from a romantic comedy. In brief, I would definitely recommend watching this exhilarating film to the fans of romantic comedies, because they will certainly laud it. Lessons a Week - A Curse or a Blessing? Physical activity is as essential to everyone as food and sleep. It dictates every phase of their growth starting from their regular habits to performing well in academics. With all the electronic gadgets and almost everything going virtual, most children prefer remaining indoors. To begin with, physical activity encourages healthy habits. For instance, an hour of physical exercise will make your child sleep at the right time. And when your child gets up for breakfast, he/she will eat almost anything without complaining. Secondly, P.E lessons positively impact their mental well being. I mean these lessons make students comfortable with taking up new challenges and boost their overall confidence. Thirdly, physically active students perform better at academics. Daily sessions of physical activity help our brain to stay active throughout the whole day. However, the high number of P.E. lessons does have its disadvantages. Those who get up early to get to their morning classes will be exhausted /sleepy all day. Let’s not forgot that the amount of homework given in school does not keep balance with the number of sports sessions. Generally, students stay up late at night to be able to prepare for their next exam during the day /week, and this leads to a never ending circle where they have to perform both at school and training. All things considered, enroll your kids only to schools that have physical education as a mandatory subject. Your child does not have to excel in it but can certainly gain from the benefits. P.E. is indeed a must! Martin Kursawe (11D) Should kids take up a sport at the age of 5? It goes without saying that unhealthiness is one of the important issues facing us today. In our rushing world, the easiest way of eating is going to a fast food restaurant, which are notorious for the junk food they offer. Another reason why obesity is on the increase is the lack of free time sport activity. But what if all kids took up a sport at the age of 5? Would it change our society? As crazy as it may sound, it has many advantages. To begin with, adults would be way healthier as most sports require physical exercise. To bring you some official statistics, 90% of the population of the United States is considered unhealthy, and as I mentioned, the lack of doing sports is one of the main reasons. So imagine what huge drop it would cause in the percentages. Another factor to consider is that the children would be in a great community from a very young age, and this would really help their character development as they would not find themselves alone or out of place. The reason behind this is that team sports have multi-player groups, and if it is an individual sport, most of the time the trainings are held with others. Nevertheless, the reform would still have its disadvantages. The courses and trainings would be really expensive on a long term, so there will be some sports only wealthy people could afford, because there is no chance it would be free. In addition, the activities take a lot of time away from the kids' study time, which could be terrible as some of them already struggle with all their daily tasks and homework. To sum up, the idea of all kids taking up a sport at the age of 5 is not bad, considering the fact how much it would help to improve the health of the society. However, like almost everything, it has its own disadvantages. As far as I am concerned, I support the idea. Benedek Balázs (12A) sports 15 The VAR (Video Assistant Referee) Do you watch football regularly? Like the English Premier League? If you do, the debate over the VAR might be familiar to you. First of all, it is worth considering that everything has its own pros and cons, even the Video Assistant Referee. To begin with, VAR can make more precise decisions in possible penalty or red card situations, taking some pressure off the referee's shoulders. Secondly, the fans and the players won't argue with the linesmen any more, becuase the people in the VAR room can decide these situations frame by frame. On the other hand, sometimes officials do not follow their own rules and they do not use their system right. For example, the VAR rules a penalty for a team in a hand-ball situation, but it does not do the same for the other team in a similar situation. To come up with an example, three weeks ago, during the Tottenham - Newcastle Premier League match, VAR awarded a penalty to Newcastle in the 95th minute, which equalised the score, but a few minutes earlier, the VAR did not even check a same situation for Tottenham. In conclusion, the VAR is not a bad thing at all, but I believe it is not ready to be used yet at a higher level and in more important matches. Bence Fábián (11A)

Preparation time: 5 minutes Baking time: 10 minutes For 4 people

Ingredients: • 10 dkg melted butter • cocoa and sugar powder or cinnamon and sugar powder • 1 pack puff pastry (you can do the dough by yourself easily but it’s faster) • 2 eggs

First you should spread one side of the stretched dough with melted butter. Then scatter it with cocoa or cinnamon powder. Cut the dough into strips and roll up to little snails. Finally glaze the top with eggs. Put the baking sheet in the oven and bake it about 10 minutes until the top becomes golden brown.

Very fast, very easy and immensely mouth-watering! Enjoy! Katinka Esztergomi (12E)
