I lusted after the various sports games advertised in the magazines until my mom finally relented and bought Strat-O-Matic Football for me in 1972. I got SOM’s baseball game a year later and I was hooked. I switched to APBA in the late ‘70’s because they started releasing some complete old season sets and the idea of playing with those really caught my fancy. Between then and the mid-nineties, I collected a lot of card sets.

The team has played in various leagues, in different ballparks, and with several affiliations in the course of its history. It has provided training for several future major league stars, including some who have been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The Indians remained in the American Association until 1962, when the league folded. The team then spent one season in the International League followed by five years in the geographically distant Pacific Coast League. The Indians rejoined the American Association upon its reformation in 1969. After the American Association dissolved in 1997, the Indians once again became part of the International League in 1998.
