Apps-o-Rama crew © Liza Gershman WELCOME!

Dear Foundation Supporters,

Thank you for traveling with us on the Road to Rio at our 12th annual “Night With the Stars” auction. As we approach the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, we recognize the hard work of the many Olympic hopefuls supported by the St. Francis Sailing Foundation and celebrate the generosity of donors like you who have helped pave the Road to Rio for these athletes and laid the groundwork for the 2020 Olympics.

Thank you so much for attending tonight. Your generosity makes our activities possible, and enabled us to launch Set Sail Learn, a major community outreach program teaching San Francisco public school children STEM lessons by way of boating on . On behalf of the many sailors we support—the just-getting-started Juniors, the students, the world-class competitors, the Olympic hopefuls, the adaptive sailors—we express our deep gratitude.

We hope you enjoy the evening, bid enthusiastically, and remember the joy our wonderful sport has brought your way. Consider giving back just a little this evening.

Sincerely, Carolyn Patrick President St. Francis Sailing Foundation

WHO WE SUPPORT

We are pleased to support community outreach programs that introduce sailing to people throughout the Bay Area.

Treasure Island Sailing Center has introduced over 10,000 youth and adults to the joy of sailing. Through its Set Sail Learn program, TISC is now on the cutting edge of experiential STEM education, hosting 4th grade classes for developmentally appropriate lessons where students get to sail and learn about the bay. Through this innovative program, TISC is breaking new ground for the sport of sailing in San Francisco by introducing roughly 3,000 youth to the wind and waves of San Francisco Bay every year. Set Sail Learn is made possible by a significant grant from the St. Francis Sailing Foundation. Call of the Sea’s programs provide hands-on, impactful learning experiences for youth from grades 4-12. Students gain a connection with the outdoors in a completely unique way aboard the classic schooner SEAWARD.

A Day on the Bay on Kate II with Commodore Kimball Livingston & John Kostecki

In 2016, these two team up to offer a catered day of sailing on Kate II, the Commodore’s Flagship. With select wines from Barnett Vineyards and a variety of specialty sandwiches and sides from San Francisco’s Michelin-starred Spruce restaurant—and with a reasonable degree of sailing competence at hand—you will be cared for, very well.

Fund-a-Need: Supporting our Olympians past, present and future!

In the room this evening are athletes personifying the St. Francis Sailing Foundation’s commitment to support young sailors on their quest for elite competition, often culminating in Olympic bids and medals. We are proud to support talented junior sailors, high school up-and-comers and Olympic hopefuls.

We are delighted and proud that of the five Olympic sailing teams determined so far, four are St. Francis Sailing Foundation grantees, of whom three are StFYC members. Olympic selection is not complete just yet, but we are optimistic and rooting them on. Reaching this level of achievement takes incredible effort and dedication from the athlete, but it also requires the generous support of everyone here.

The USA effort at the Olympics is not government funded, it depends on your support. Your generosity tonight enables us to provide the programs and resources to ensure the US (and StFYC!) medal in Rio and into the future.

Whether you have purchased an item this evening or not, we ask for your participation in Fund-A-Need to bolster the Foundation’s contributions of the US Olympic sailors and training programs. Thank you for your support!
