RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders (15-1-0-0) host the Kootenay ICE (6-7-2-1) tonight at the Art Hauser Centre as the calendar turns over to November. Last Saturday, the Raiders defeated the Regina Pats 6-2 to earn their eighth consecutive win. The Raiders jumped out to a 6-0 lead midway through the second period following goals from Sean Montgomery, Justin Nachbaur, Brett Leason, Noah Gregor, Eric Pearce, and Jakob Brook. Ian Scott earned his league-leading 13th win of the year by making 19 saves on the evening.

VS. KOOTENAY: This is the first meeting of the year between the Raiders and the ICE. Last year, the Raiders won three of the four meetings between the two clubs. The Raiders’ only loss came in overtime.

MONTLHY AWARDS: Winger Brett Leason and goaltender Ian Scott were named the WHL Player of the Month and WHL Goaltender of the Month, respectively, for September/October on Wednesday afternoon. Leason set a new career high in points in just 16 games, netting 15 goals and adding 20 assists. Scott, a Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick, posted a 13-1 record with a 1.57 goals-against average, a 0.943 save percentage, and two shutouts.

SHORTHANDED STRIKE: Rookie winger Jakob Brook scored the first shorthanded goal of his career in the second period of Saturday night’s game. He is the first Raiders rookie to score a shorthanded goal since Reid Gardiner did so on Dec. 8, 2012 against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Gardiner was also in his 16-year-old season.

POINTS FOR PEARCE: Regina product Eric Pearce picked up his second and third points of the year against his hometown team on Saturday night. Pearce, a second-round pick of the Raiders in 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, recorded his first career shorthanded goal and his first multi-point effort of his career.

ONE YEAR LATER: On Saturday night, the Raiders earned their 15th win of the season in 16 attempts. Through 16 games last season, the Raiders posted a 7-6-3-0 record. It took until January 6 for the Raiders to win their 15th game last year, bringing their record to 15-17-6-2 at the time.

NEXT UP: The Raiders are off until Friday, November 9 when the division rival Swift Current Broncos (1-14-0-1) visit the Art Hauser Centre for the first time this year. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com and the Raider Office.
