MANITOBA AND THE NORTHWEST TERRITORIES. The wheat lands of Manitoba, the future granary of Europe, are drawing large bodies of emigrants daily from the Eastern and other States. The Grand Trunk Railway, with its powerful and direct connections, and extensive and continuous through line, is the favorite route, and can be relied upon. The very best rates will be quoted for freight, passage, live stock, effects, and extra baggage, for emigrants. Applications for information should emigrant parties ; also, for individual be made to the Company’s Agents, or to the General Passenger Agent.

KANSAS, TEXAS, ARKANSAS, COLORADO AND CALIFORNIA. The Grand Trunk Railway has deservedly gained the reputation of being an exceptionally desirable route for bodies of emigrant settlers. Special attention has been paid to this business, both as regards cars, train service, accommodations en route, and instructions to employes to treat parties and holders of our Special Emigrant Through Tickets with equal courtesy and attention to first class passengers. The Grand Trunk is steel-railed, rapid, has a continuously connected train service over a great extent of main line, under skilled supervision, and is by all conceded to be the true route for the emigrant to take to the Far West. Through tickets are on sale all over the route for Western points* New extensions are promptly included, and full information furnished on application. REDUCED FARE TICKETS. Commercial Travellers’ TicTcets,—Members of the Dominion, Commercial, and Western Associations of Canada, are entitled to travel at 2 cents per mile, on presentation of Association Certificates, and to carry 300 lbs. baggage free. Canada Tress Associations.—Certificates of the and Quebec Associations are accepted at specified stations, and entitle holder to obtain tickets at 2 cents per mile. Theatrical Troupes.—Special rates are quoted for Troupes. Excursion Parties.—Ten or more in one party can obtain return tickets at one-third more than the single fare. Meetings of Corporations, Etc.—For delegates attending organization meetings, reduced fare tickets are issued by special arrangement, to be made with the General Passenger Agent. Indian TicTcets and Nuns’ TicTcets are issued at half rates, at certain stations on the line where required. Saturday Excursion TicTcets are issued during the summer season, between principal centres and contiguous stations, at reduced fares. Sea Eathing Excursion TicTcets are issued to Atlantic Coast resorts, and the Gulf and Lower St. Lawrence, at special fares, each summer season. Season and Commutation TicTcets.— Season Tickets are issued between stations con- tiguous to the principal centres on the line, to go and return between such centres and suburban or country residences contiguous thereto. Prices for Season Tickets for various periods, not limited to any given number of rides within the period for which they are issued, will be quoted upon

application, and forms furnished, with rules and conditions governing their issue. , Commutation Tickets, valid for passage between two given stations on the lice for a giveh num- ber of single journey rides, from two per week and upwards, can be obtained upon application to the General Passenger Agent, commutation rates varying proportionately for occasional and constant traffic. Proportionate prices will be quoted to allow two rides per week or more, for from four up to

fifty-two weeks. , Apprentices’ and Scholars’ Commutation Tickets are issued at one-half of the adult rates. Family Commutation Tickets are issued at less than individual rates to members of one and same family, purchasing at the rate of two rides per week each.

A most attractive programme of tours has been arranged for the season of 1880, containing all the new features which a constantly varying and increasing tourist travel demands. The Pullman Palace Cars of the Grand Trunk Railway and Steamers of the Richelieu and Royal Mail Line connect during the season of pleasure and tourist travel at Kingston, and afford first class facilities, with modern improvements, for all those desirous of making the St. Lawrence trip from to Toronto, Toronto to Kingston, and from Kingston to Montreal Round Trip TicTcets.—White Mountain, Gulf Ports, Lower Province, Seaside, Lakes Cham- plain and George, and Saguenay riyer tours, either individually ©r in combination, affording a very choice selection of trips, of the most attractive character on the continent, are at the disposal of the public through the Agents of the Company in all the principal cities of the and Canada. The above tours form an important element in all the standard Tourist Guide Books, and are to be found on sale with the Pennsylvania Ry., New York Central & Hudson River R. R., Erie, and principal Railways. Tourists from the South, Southwest, aaid all parts of the continent, will do well to select the St. Lawrence Route for the season of 1880. NORTHERN TRANSIT CO. 5 GRAND TRUNK RAILWAY OF CANADA, AND THE CANADIAN LINES OF OCEAN STEAMSHIPS. The Great Canadian Highway to Europe. The Shortest. The Coolest. The Best.

The Grand Trunk Railway Company of Canada begs to call the attention ot shippers and exporters of Butter, Cheese, Provisions, etc., to its superior facilities, and the advantages possessed by its route and connections over all others. 1st. For perishable freight double-lined and double-roofed ventilated cars will be supplied, and will be iced in transitu if necessary. 2nd. The route being along the north banks of Lake Ontario and the River St. Lawrence, the benefit of a continual current of cool air is always available. The cars, on arrival at Montreal, are run alongside the steamers, and the contents promptly transferred under deck. The steamships go to sea through the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Straits of Belle Isle, thence passing the north coast of Ireland, thereby avoiding the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. 3rd. There are no bonding cliarges or customs annoyances by this Canadian route. 4th. Every possible attention is given to traffic to insure prompt shipment and careful handling. 5th. Rates of Insurance are guaranteed as low as by any other route, from May 15th to October 1st in each year.
