Work vs. School

I am currently in the process of interviewing at a couple of different places, if I had my choice of places to work, it would be at Cowpokes in Anderson. I wore the outfit on the left to go in and inquire about getting an application. Verses, what I normally wear to school, which is a lot of graphic t- and hooded sweatshirts with . Of course, if I work at Cowpokes, I know my outfits would need to reflect the image and style of the same types of things they sell in their store. I could easily wear those types of things to school, but when it comes to spending time at school, I would rather be comfortable, than to try and make a statement of any sort with my clothes. I would save anything cute like that I could wear to work for a livestock, 4h or FFA event, or a trip out to eat with my friends.

After high school, I plan to attend Purdue University, and I imagine that my desire to be comfortable versus wearing a cute outfit will probably still be the same. I am very comfortable being me, and feel quite confident in being myself no matter what type of outfit I have on.

For this activity, I decided to use bath towels from my house because we have them in a couple of different colors. I thought that it would make seeing the differences easier. I've always known I'm rather fair skinned, but this activity shows that easily. I like the green, Blue and Yellow, I'm not crazy about the Red and White. I like the green because it doesn't make my hair look too blonde. The blue is good because it pulls out the color of my eyes, and the yellow makes me look tan. I don't like the white because it washes out my face and the red makes my hair look a funny color of yellow that I don't like.

During my trip to Meijer to check out the cosmetic aisles, a few things were noticeable right off the bat. First, most major name brand cosmetic companies, carry all of the same types of products. Foundation, Mascara ,lipsticks, Blush and Eyeshadow. The second thing that was noticeable about the displays was the use of eye catching displays, all of which using a combination of words, photos and color to grab your attention.

Some of the most commonly used words were: Fresh - Clean - Natural - Fuller - No Clumps - Creamy - Glow - Match - Thicker - Longer - Volume

These are all very much descriptive words used to describe all the changes you could possibly want to do to parts of your face. Changes, that also keep a natural, clean feeling. Natural and Clean were used multiple times probably because, that is what most people would want, something that makes their face look natural, but at the same time, accentuating their features by making them thicker, longer, fuller.

The industry trends suggest that most are looking for some sort of more volume in their facial features. The use of these descriptive words will help consumers determine if this is what they are looking for to enhance their features. I also feel like most of the time, consumers are looking for a cosmetic item that increases a feature they feel they might be lacking.

I will be the first to admit, I am not a fan of make up at all. I don't wear it, and even when my mom suggests I wear it for certain events, like prom, FFA banquet or even senior pictures, I didn't wear it. probably because they are subjected to years of seeing images that suggest these are how their features should be. I personally feel that we should all try to accept ourselves and others for exactly how they are and not based on what magazine or cosmetic companies want us to think to sell their product.

I went through my closet and found items for Summer.I didn't really have much of a pile since we have recently moved, and I had done a big sorting of my closet when we moved. I was able to pick out an outfit that can qualify for each of the four criteria.

A. B

A> You like the Garment as Is: While I really like this outfit and I'm looking forward to wearing it for the county fair and then to School in August. I think it's really cute, and comfortable as well. It's also a little different from things I normally wear because it's flowery and Bright colors.

B) You like the garment, but it needs mending or altering: I absolutely love these ! I love it with the black tank , but this tank top is a little too small, so I will get the next size up and wear it with a different as well. Those changes should make this outfit look better on me.

12 C D

C. The garment is out of style or worn out. You’ll discard it. While I really like these shorts a lot, I'm having a hard time finding a I like to wear with them. I really don't like this shirt, so I will take it back and keep trying to find something to wear with these shorts, because they are in style, and they are worth keeping.

D. You don't like the garment. It's unbecoming. You'll discard it. While I like both of these items, I don't like them together. The pants need a different shirt that comes down over my waist a little more, and need to be ironed. And the shirt is really a size too small. So I won't completely discard this outfit, I will just find ways to make them better.

These are my absolute favorite pair of jeans! Sadly, I realize there are starting to be some issues from wearing them so much. I have started to slightly outgrow them, they for sure don't fit like they used to, simply because I have grown. The stress areas are the thighs and knees. You can easily see that there is thinning of the material.

15

Once you take a closer look, you can see the distress that is happening. The hems and button holes are holding up pretty well even with the amount of wear these jeans have had. It's really just the thinning of the fabric in the butt and thighs of the pants. I will probably have to give these up someday. But Until then, I am going to wear them till they fall apart. My mom and I have already purchased new jeans to replace these for times when these jeans will not be acceptable to be wearing because of the wear on them.

16 Outfit Description:

Back in November my mom ordered this Paisley outfit for me to save for this summer to wear at the county fair for my ambassador term. She paid $29.99 for it. I wore it to the very first event I could! which was the photo shoot for the 4h announcement. Since then, our world has gone a little crazy, and some events were cancelled and moved around, and I wasn't able to wear it as soon as I thought in the spring.

I decided I would take the opportunity to use this same and it up for some senior pictures. As soon as the stores opened back up and I was able to go shopping in a real store again, I went to Marshalls and picked out a very cute pair of tan dress , for $29.99, and decided to add a cute and perfectly faded, in my opinion, Jean , for only $19.99

These two additions alone make a cute way to style this already busy paisley jumpsuit, so that is perfect for some senior pictures. I added some earrings from home that I already had to pull from the gold in the buckles of the shoes, and to give some accent to my face for those pictures.

Since this outfit has taken eight months to finally get its use, I plan to also wear it again during the 4h Fair as ambassador. I also think the offset of time weighs out the cost of the items. I can easily wear the jean jacket with so many other things in my closet already, and the tan color of the shoes, will also make them easy to wear with other things I already own, making them an investment piece that I can use again later.

17 Other Options for uses for parts of my Outfit:

Here I have three other options for each of my three items. The shoes can be worn with lots of other or . A jean jacket is a very versatile piece that can be used for many different things. And the jumpsuit alone is always cute especially with a and crown!
