1 K-5th grade

We want to create a good self-image in a child, which is vital to good Christian growth. To do this, we feel that we must encourage cleanliness and dress that is becoming of young ladies and gentlemen in accordance with the principles of modesty which are set forth in Scripture. Students should dress in a way that neither dishonors God nor draws attention to themselves. FOFCA has established a Program to better the learning environment for our students. The dress standards which follow are intended as expressions of these principles. They are not designed to promote legalism nor regimentation. It is the parents’ responsibility to see that their student is dressed properly for school according to the dress code before leaving home each day.

If a student is out of dress code, he/she may be required to change to meet the dress code policy in order to return to classes for the day. When a child is in violation, please see Discipline and Consequences Chart p. 6.

ATHLETIC DRESS CODE DURING PRACTICE: (GIRLS) Plain T- and are acceptable. No short shorts. Shorts must be no more than 4 inches above the knee. No tank tops or shirts with cut off sleeves or see-through shirts are allowed. Sleeveless tops will only be permitted if are not visible. Undergarments are not to be visible or noticeable at any time.

(BOYS) T-shirts and shorts are acceptable. Shorts must be no more than 4 inches above the knee. No tank tops or shirts with cut off sleeves or shirts cut down the sides.

ON GAME DAYS: (GIRLS) Mandatory dress or EXCEPTION: a dress/ 1-2 inches above the knee but must wear . This skirt and leggings are allowed on game days ONLY (not chapel mandatory dress days). **If there is a game on a Chapel/Mandatory Dress day, regular Mandatory Dress must be followed, no exceptions.

(BOYS) Mandatory Dress or EXCEPTION: khaki pants will be allowed also.

DRESS DOWN DAYS Shirts: Shirts/sweatshirts/ may be FOFCA spirit wear, Christian themed, colleges, sports teams, etc. Not permitted: shirts that are obscene, suggestive, violent, inappropriate slogans/insults. Pants: or khakis - NO sweats, flannel, yoga, wind pants, or basketball or athletic shorts. Jeans must be traditional fit (no low rise) and not frayed, with holes or tight-fitting. Capris or jean/dress shorts (no more than 2 inches above knee). *Spirit wear Sweats may be worn if purchased through our Spirit wear website. : Any including gym shoes//. NO flip flops, slides, or .

GENERAL GUIDELINES 1. Sloppy, wrinkled, oversized, or frayed as well as clothing worn inside-out are not acceptable. 2. Extreme clothing styles are not acceptable. No extreme make-up styles may be worn. 3. may NOT be worn during school hours. 4. Chains or jewelry indicating gang affiliation may NOT be worn at any time. 5. Tattoos are not permitted. Tattoos (including non-permanent tattoos), body painting or drawings are not to be visible during school hours or when a student is representing the school at a school function. 6. Facial and hair paint is allowed when showing school spirit at athletic games. 7. Piercings: Boys are not to wear earrings. Girls are permitted to wear earrings no larger than a quarter. 8. If the pants, shorts, or skirt has loops, a belt is required. 9. Undergarments must be worn and are not to be visible or noticeable at any time.

HAIR Extreme haircuts or coloring is unacceptable. Hair on boys is to be off the collar in a sitting posture and no longer than the bottom of the ear when hanging freely over the ears. Front bangs on boys should not extend below the eyebrow. Students in violation of the hair code will have three calendar days including the day of notice to correct the problem.

INCLIMATE WEATHER Please purchase clothing appropriate for cold weather. Long sleeve white or a spirit wear sweatshirt, , or may be worn. No other , or clothing may be worn during school.

MAKEUP/ COSMETICS K- 5 ELEMENTARY GIRLS ARE STRONGLY DISCOURAGED FROM WEARING ANY MAKE-UP DURING SCHOOL HOURS. Light colored lip gloss will be acceptable; however, no mascara, eye shadow, foundation or blush will be allowed. In case a student wears make-up to school, she will be asked to remove it immediately.

MANDATORY DRESS DAYS (specific guidelines to follow) Mandatory dress is required on all Chapel days and on some Special Assembly days. Parents will be notified of other Mandatory Dress Days.

NEW STUDENTS If you don’t have yet, a parental note needs to be on file in the office stating that uniforms have been ordered. While you are waiting for uniforms, you need to wear “Mandatory Dress Uniform.” Students entering in the middle of the year will be given 2 weeks to comply.

SHOES Shoes must be clean and in good repair. Shoes must be dress, dress boots, gym, loafers, or flats, and must be mostly a solid color as follows: navy, black, or dark brown. Heelys, Crocs, moccasins, flip flops or five finger shoes are not permitted.

SPIRIT WEAR Spirit Wear is available to purchase at any time online. We also keep some supply in the office. Spirit Wear purchased through our approved vendor (t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc.) may be worn as the regular as long as it supports the eagle logo. If hoodies or sweatshirts are worn, white undershirts, navy or orange spirit wear needs to be worn under.

*Special ‘spirit wear’ i.e. a class project, special tournament shirts, school choice shirts MAY BE WORN ONE DAY ONLY following the event that it was purchased at or given out or on a dress down day (if approved by administration).

KINDERGARTEN - 5TH UNIFORM GUIDELINES

**SPIRIT-WEAR--shirts must be purchased through FOFCA Spirit wear website and have the eagle logo on them. NOT all items on our site can be worn for uniform-check item descriptions. **UNIFORMS--MUST be purchased through French Toast, Wal-Mart uniforms, or Land’s End Uniform Company DAILY DRESS UNIFORM-from uniform company

• PANTS – NAVY cargo, flat front, pleated pants. Girls may wear capris also* • SHORTS – NAVY walking or cargo* • – GIRLS - NAVY only (any style) 1-2 inches above knees* • SHIRTS – HEATHER GRAY or ORANGE short or long sleeve polo * • SPIRIT WEAR SHIRTS - purchased through the school office (see acceptable shirts above) 3 • – BOYS solid BLACK/NAVY/DARK BROWN or GIRLS solid BLACK/NAVY/DARK BROWN socks/ (optional) • SHOES – BOYS & GIRLS - Shoes must be clean and in good repair. Dress shirts must be tucked into with belt. • TIE – BOYS – (OPTIONAL) any color, solid or stripe neck-tie or bow-tie of their choosing (no pictures or words) • SOCKS – BOYS – solid BLACK/NAVY/DARK BROWN • BELTS – BOYS – solid BLACK/NAVY/DARK BROWN smooth • SHOES – BOYS - BLACK/NAVY/DARK BROWN plain, solid color dress shoe or casual dress shoe. No open or low closed back, no , clog, or gym shoes. • UNDER SHIRTS – BOYS - (OPTIONAL) WHITE long or short sleeve shirts or turtlenecks – no writing or logos • OPTIONAL ITEMS – BOYS - matching jackets or vests, dress hats. NO hoodies or sweatshirts are allowed with mandatory dress. Jackets may be worn only if part of the outfit, i.e. jacket or . • PANTS – GIRLS – Wrinkle-free, business casual dress pants. No leggings/jeggings or skinny/tight fighting pants. No jeans of any color or athletic wear, etc. • SKIRTS – GIRLS – (OPTIONAL) Dress or skirt of their choosing. /skirts must be to the knee. Dresses/skirts may be 1-2 inches above the knee, but leggings must also be worn. • SHIRTS – GIRLS – or shirt (see guidelines). Sweatshirts are not permitted. • SHOES – GIRLS - dress flats, heels, dress boots or dress sandals. (no gym shoes, flip flops, jellies, crocs, slides, or slippers, etc.) • UNDER SHIRTS – GIRLS - (OPTIONAL) WHITE long or short sleeve shirts or turtlenecks – no writing or logos • OPTIONAL ITEMS – GIRLS - matching suit jackets or vests, dress hats. NO hoodies or sweatshirts are allowed with mandatory dress. Jackets may be worn only if part of the outfit, i.e. jean jacket or blazer.

4 DEFINITIONS NO See-through Shirts - No lace, large crocheted or see-through sleeves, sweaters or shirts. Under garments are NOT to be seen. Tight, Form-Fitting - Any article of clothing that restricts movement or emphasizes bodily curves. (No article of clothing should be skintight in appearance. Student should be able to pinch an inch of fabric on any article of clothes.)

Excessive Bagginess - Anything that is over-sized and not appropriately fitted, sags, or will not stay up. Traditional Fit: Classic style, straight or cut, fits at waist. No legging or jeggings allowed.

UNIFORM COMPANIES

All DAILY uniforms must be purchased from French Toast, Wal-Mart Uniform Brands or Lands’ End uniform departments ONLY! Shoes, belts, socks, tights/hose for the Daily Uniform may be purchased elsewhere.

5 K-5th DISCIPLINE & CONSEQUENCES Unexcused tardies, dress code violations, and behavior incidents will each be recorded separately per semester. For every violation, an incident report will be generated and entered into JupiterGrades, as well as emailed to the parents. Please note the following chart:

***The specific areas will not be combined. For example, tardies will be addressed separately from dress code and behavioral incident reports. The Student Advisor will be meeting periodically as needed with the student regarding their discipline issues. All violations as well as their consequences will be recorded through Jupitergrades to the parent(s). ***Parental support is absolutely vital. The goal is that the applied discipline with consequences will help bring the student to a place of repentance and restoration.

7 6th – 12th grade DRESS CODE

The dress standards which follow are intended as expressions of these principles. They are not designed to promote legalism nor regimentation. It is the parents’ responsibility to see that their student is dressed properly for school according to the dress code before leaving home each day.

NO flip flops, slides, or slippers.

GUIDELINES FOR GIRLS 1. Skirts or Dresses on Mandatory Dress Day are to be worn 1.) at a modest length below the knee i.e. tea length, ankle, floor lengths or 2.) May be no more than 2 inches above the knee but leggings must be worn. If skirt has a slit, it must be no higher than the knee. Any part of the skirt that is see through must have a solid layer underneath that meets the requirements. 2. All tops are to be buttoned modestly; they may not be low cut, tight/form-fitting, or see-through (see definitions). 3. Tops which do not tuck in must not expose the stomach or back at any time. There are two ways to confirm that the midriff will not be exposed: a. The bottom of the shirt must overlap the of the skirt/pants when the girl raises her hands up. b. The girl must be able to tuck in her top and have it stay in if she were asked to do so. 4. Undergarments must be worn and are not to be visible or noticeable at any time. 5. Sleeveless tops, spaghetti straps and tank tops are NOT permitted. They are ONLY allowed if a NON-lace/see through shirt/ is worn over it. 6. ALL shirts/dresses/sweaters must have a /short, three-quarters, or long sleeve with no cut outs or bare shoulders. 7. Jean jackets are permitted if part of the outfit. 8. Tight, form-fitting, clingy pants, shorts, skirts are not allowed (see definitions). No leggings or jeggings.

Eleventh and Twelfth grade boy students (only) are allowed to have minimal facial hair up to ½” in length and neatly trimmed. Students in violation of the hair code will have three calendar days (one for facial hair violations), including the day of notice to correct the problem.

SPIRIT WEAR You can purchase spirit wear on our spirit wear website found on FOFOCA.COM. It usually takes 7 days to receive an order. Spirit Wear purchased through our website (t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc.) may be worn as the regular school uniform. If hoodies or sweatshirts are worn, white undershirts, navy or orange spirit wear needs to be worn under. All spirit wear apparel purchased through FOFCA that supports the current eagle school logo will be acceptable.
