Plans Outcomes CPE Status • Marian college was awarded CPE Status in March 2010. The college celebrated the CPE status on 17 May 2010.The function was presided over by His Excellency Mar Mathew Arackal, Patron of the College and the function was inaugurated by Dr. Cyriac Thomas, Member, and National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions. Mr. Anto Antony MP, Smt. E. S. Bijimol MLA, etc felicitated the gathering. Common Quality Standards • Prepared the quality standards and was presented in the staff meeting Quality Sustenance and • The seven criterion committee members Enhancement Drive 2010 and heads presented the details of the status of our regular practice , remedial mechanism and new things to practice Best Practice documentation • The best practice in each department was collected and compiled. Next year it will be published as a book Marian Annual Academic • Organized on 24 and 25 May, 2010 at Planning and evaluation of Hotel Royale Park, Alappuzha progress of action plans • Action plan devised by each Department were deliberated during the academic retreat. • Corporate Responsibilities were assigned to the college teaching faculty. marian college kuttikkanam | IQAC Page 2 of 91 2010-2011 [The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR)] • Initiated a quarterly review of action taken on annual plan during staff meeting. Annual review of Department • Annual review of the Department were Annual Plan done by a Committee headed by Principal Scholar on campus • Every month a well known personality was invited to the campus and he talked about a subject Resurgence Education • Each faculty was assigned a class and on every Wednesday the class was taken as per regular time table Communication Skills • Initiated the Communication Skills Enhancement drive Enhancement Strategy from the students themselves and held a competition for the same. The IQAC team visited each class and evaluated their performance in this area based on the plans developed by the students. The best three classes were given prizes. Effective Documentation of • Devised a new documentation format for programs documenting programs on the campus. Faculty development initiatives • Organized a one-day training for teaching staff by Rev.Fr.V.M.Thomas, Executive Director, Don Bosco Institute of Management, Guwahati. • Financial assistance for research and publication initiatives were given. Initiation of Phoenix club • Initiated Phonenix Club activities activities for overall development • Organized a three-phase workshop of students from backward Behavioural Training. communities • Organized a special parent-teacher meeting of of the SC/ST students on 2nd July, 2010 to discuss the action plan for the club. marian college kuttikkanam | IQAC Page 3 of 91 2010-2011 [The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR)] • Organized a 3-day theatre workshop from September-25th September, 2010. • Distributed a copy of Manorama Year Book -2011 on 5th January 2011. Sixty members benefited out of it. • The club conducts discussions and planning sessions on every Wednesday. • The club arranges regular PSC coaching classes on every second Saturday for SC/ST students.23 club members attends the coaching class along with other members. Campus Community Partnership • Initiated Campus Community (CCP) Partnership with Ayyappankovil Grampanchayath and Peruvanthanam Grama panchayat, of Idukki District and performed several activities with the support of a full time Coordinator and the College Departments. • Planning to develop a tourism project at Alady, Idukki District,Kerala with the guidance and support of Department of Hospitality Management of college. Preliminary survey and studies are over. • Development programmes organized in various schools like St.Joseph HSS Peruvanthanam, St.Mary’s H S Thekkemala, etc. • Initiated Campus Community Partnership with Ayyappankovil Grampanchayath and performed several activities with the support of various Departments • Official MoU signed for the partnership marian college kuttikkanam | IQAC Page 4 of 91 2010-2011 [The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR)] Office automation and student • All the students’ affairs including library feedback on teachers are automated • Student’s feedback on teachers are taken during the end of each semester Focus on Research • The college is providing support in terms of infrastructure, fund, FIP leave, etc to the Faculty. Implementation of Choice Based • Introduced in 2009-10 and successfully Credit and Semester System continuing in the current year [CBCSS] Part B: 1. Com. • Started an Accredited CA Study Centre. [Offering classes for CA CPT and IPCC exams accredited by the ICAI] by M.COM Department. • The M.COM Department arranged Industrial Institution Interface for 2nd year students in Chennai. • The MCOM Department arranged Social Outreach programme in Tyford Tea Estate and Tyford School for both batches. • Participated in a number of Inter Collegiate Commerce Fests inside Kerala. • Arranged Training on Communication, Personality Growth, Research Methodology Group Discussion and Interview Skills. • Arranged Video based Interview Techniques classes • Started a Project with Sahyadhry Group by M.COM Department. • Arranged Training on Capital Market Certifications NCFM. marian college kuttikkanam | IQAC Page 6 of 91 2010-2011 [The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR)] • Arranged Computerized Practical Training on Tally for B.COM and M.COM Students • Arranged On line Trading in Stock Exchanges for M.COM Students. • Éclat 09: A two days Inter-Collegiate South India level Commerce Fest for M.Com and MBA Students in South India. • The M.COM Department organized a National Seminar on the ‘IFRS in Indian Scenario: Issues and Challenges’ by top notch academicians, social activists, and bureaucrats by participation by almost 300 students and faculty members. • Conducted Academic Retreat for both batches in March 2010. Gave special training and attention to those expected to secure University Rank • Social Outreach programme in Tyford Tea Estate and Tyford School for both M.COM batches. • The M. Com- PGDIM at Marian College , Kuttikanam, strives to prepare Commerce cum management professionals for the new era of technology enabled business across the globe through multi –skilling and value education • Goodmorning talk: The day in the Department begins with a message given by pre-assigned students. The thought for the day instills positive thinking and enthusiasm among the students and faculty. • Walk and talk: This programme gives opportunity for the students to interact informally and more personally with the faculty members.
