No. RD/C1/161/2020 KANNUR UNIVERSITY (RESEARCH DIRECTORATE) No. RD/C1/161/2020 Thavakkara Campus, Dated :19.02.2020 NOTIFICATION Applications are invited EXCLUSIVELY from candidates having Junior Research Fellowship for admission to Ph.D Programme – 2020. 1. Eligibility for Admission. 1.1. Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Masters Degree recognized as equivalent to the Masters Degree of Kannur University, with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 –point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). 1.2. A relaxation of 5% of marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade shall be allowed to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy-Layer) and Differently-Abled Persons and other categories of candidates as per the decision of University / State Government from time to time. 2. Criteria for Admission 2.1. Those who have cleared JRF conducted by such bodies as UGC and other similar institutions of Central Government. 2.2 Candidates who have secured the Research Fellowship (of three years or more) of State /Central Government funding agencies. 3. Admission 3.1 Candidates who have secured Junior Research Fellowship and applied within the time limit shall submit synopsis of the proposed Research Work before the Department Research Committee 3.2 Candidates recommended by the Department Research Committee will be given admission to Course Work and Ph.D. Programme. 3.3 Such candidates shall undergo a Course Work of six months duration on recommendation of the Department Research Committee. 3.4 Regular M.Phil Degree holders in the relevant subject will be eligible for exemption from the Course Work based on the recommendation of the Department Research Committee. 4. Duration of the Ph.D. Programme 4.1. Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including Course Work and maximum of six years . Women candidates and candidates with disability of more than 40% are allowed a relaxation of two years for Ph.D. in the maximum duration. 5. Procedure of Application 5.1. Application can be submitted online from 20.02.2020 to 04.03.2020 through Kannur University website (www.kannuruniversity.ac.in ). 5.2. The applicants are advised to submit only one application. 5.3. The application fee of Rs.615/- shall be remitted online through SBI Collect. See the link “Online fee payment SBI Collect” in the University website. 5.4. The print out of the application duly attested with relevant supporting documents along with receipt in original for remittance of application fee should reach “The Director Research Directorate, Kannur University, Thavakkara Campus,Civil Station P.O, Kannur, 670002 on or before 07.03.2020 by 5.00 p.m. Incomplete application and applications received after the last date of receipt of applications will summarily be rejected and fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted for any other purpose. 5.5. Candidates are strongly advised to apply well in advance without waiting for the last date for submission of online application. 6. Documents to be enclosed with the application. 6.1. Print out of online application form in A4 size paper. Photograph should be attested by a Gazetted officer. 6.2. Self-attested copies of P.G. Certificate and mark lists/grade cards. 6.3. A Certificate from the University concerned showing the aggregate percentage of marks scored in the P.G. Examination under grading pattern, if applicable. 6.4. Fellowship award letter of U.G.C/ relevant agencies 6.5. Caste/Community Certificate in the case of SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) 6.6 Chalan for payment of fee. 7. Other Conditions 7.1. Admission is possible only against the notified vacancy. Tentative vacancy position in different subjects is attached as annexure. 7.2. The eligible candidates shall submit a Research proposal of 3000 words to the Director, Research Directorate through email ([email protected]) in the following subject line (Name of the Candidate, subject and title of the research programme) prior to appearing before Department Research Committee. 7.3. Reservation as per Government rules will be given to eligible candidates. 7.4. Ph.D. programme will be governed by the “Kannur University Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2018” and the Regulations/Guidelines prescribed by the Kannur University/UGC for Ph.D. Programme amended from time to time.
