    Film, Television and Video productions featuring brass bands Gavin Holman, October 2019 Over the years the brass bands in the UK, and elsewhere, have appeared numerous times on screen, whether in feature films or on television programmes. In most cases they are small appearances fulfilling the role of a “local” band in the background or supporting a musical event in the plot of the drama. At other times band have a more central role in the production, featuring in a documentary or being a major part of the activity (e.g. Brassed Off, or the few situation comedies with bands as their main topic). Bands have been used to provide music in various long-running television programmes, an example is the 40 or more appearances of Chalk Farm Salvation Army Band on the Christmas Blue Peter shows on BBC1. Bands have taken part in game shows, provided the backdrop for and focus of various commercial advertisements, played bands of the past in historical dramas, and more. This listing of 450 entries is a second attempt to document these appearances on the large and small screen – an original list had been part of the original Brass Band Bibliography in the IBEW, but was dropped in the early 2000s. Some overseas bands are included. Where the details of the broadcast can be determined (or remembered) these have been listed, but in some cases all that is known is that a particular band appeared on a certain show at some point in time - a little vague to say the least, but I hope that we can add detail in future as more information comes to light.

For each of the five impact types (Conceptual, Instrumental, Capacity- building, Enduring Connectivity and Attitude/Culture Change), researchers and project-level stakeholders were asked about the role of their project, and researchers and programme- level stakeholders were asked about the role of the overall programme. In short, at both the Programme and the Project level, Researchers and Stakeholders saw a range of impacts as having been generated. The conclusion that Relu led to multiple, different types of impacts is robust. For instance, as noted in the Report, even the famously elusive Instrumental Impacts, seen by the lowest percentages, were still seen by a third (34.4%) of Project Stakeholder survey respondents and nearly half (48.6%) of Researchers as having been generated by projects and by over half (54.6%) of Programme Stakeholders and 83.3% of Researchers as having been generated by the Programme. Conceptual Impacts were seen by the highest percentages: as arising from projects by 70.6% of Project Stakeholders and 97.3% of Researchers, and as arising from the Programme by 95.3% of Programme Stakeholders and 88.9% of Researchers.

    Emerging Leaders 2019 Janelle Anderson Scottish Enterprise Rural Leadership Janelle is from a farming family based in Aberdeenshire. Their farming enterprise includes breeding cattle, a small flock of sheep and forestry. Having completed her Batchelor of Technology Degree in Agriculture in 2000, she currently works as Regional Events Manager for the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs based at Thainstone Agricultural Centre and also manages the SAYFC Agri and Rural Affairs Group. Janelle is a director of the Royal Northern Agricultural Society, having been the society President in 2017. She is also past chairman of the North East Farm Management Association (2017/18) and currently secretary of the North East Aberdeen Angus Breeders Club. As well as having a long association with SAYFC as a member, from club to national level, she is also a trustee of John Fotheringham Memorial Trust and Willie Davidson 75th Fund which promotes health and safety amongst young farmers. Since being selected to represent Scotland at the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth Conference in Calgary in 2006, Janelle has kept a close link to the RASC, attending conferences in New Zealand and Zambia on behalf of the Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland, who hosted the conference in Scotland in 2010 where Janelle was their Next Generation Leader. Janelle is honoured to be attending the Oxford Farming Conference on behalf of the Scottish Enterprise Rural Leaders and is looking forward to meeting the other delegates.     There is No “I” in “Follow Me” July 15, 2018 Northminster Presbyterian Church Rev. Michael D. Kirby Romans 12:1-8 and Luke 9:23-25 It took every one of them. On Saturday, July 23rd, the Wild Boars European football club had completed its practice session but weren’t expected back at the gates of the church that served as their sponsor for at least another hour. Ekapol, their quiet, reserved, 25-year-old coach, worked as a concierge at the church — the Buddhist Temple called Pharathat Doi Wao — a temple famous for being the first temple one reaches in Thailand after crossing the border from Myanmar, also known as Burma. For that reason, it’s home to many stateless people who escaped from oppression in Myanmar over the years, people who have no country and no passport. Ekapol is one of those people, studying Buddhist practices while he works at the Temple and volunteers as a soccer coach. We now know the boys and the coach intended to spend one hour in the famous caves until the flood waters from recent rains entered the caves from thousands of crevasses some miles away from the cave itself. For the next 10 days, the community worried and turned to visitors in their midst. The Thai Navy Seals were brave, but they didn’t know these caves. But British cave enthusiast Vern Unsworth did. He’d spent years making those caves his second home. He knew every nook and cranny. But he wasn’t experienced in cave diving rescue. However, he knew three friends who were — British divers and rescue specialists John Volanthen, Rick Stanton and Robert Harper.

    CAVE DIVERS ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA INCORPORATED IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATING 40 YEARS IN 2013 AGM and Symposium 2013 This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Cave Divers Association of Australia (CDAA). To celebrate, we are holding an exciting two day event on the 9th and 10th of November in conjunction with this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). There will be a number of talks, demonstrations and displays, at which we will also be inviting public participation. Speakers will include notable Australian and international cave divers. We are also planning on inviting various dignitaries including representatives from local and state government, private land owners and the local media. The venue, the Main Corner, is conveniently located in the centre of town at 1 Bay Road, Mount Gambier. The Symposium will be held in the Dress Circle commencing at 9:00am. The AGM will follow at 6:00pm and dinner will be served in City Hall at 7:30pm.
