Raja Yoga Companion Talks In the early years of the 14 Steps, now called “Ananda Course in Self-Realization” referred to as “the course,” certain talks by Swami were selected to go along along with the Ananda Course in Self-Realization. These talks were not improved digitally, they were simply made into mp3s “as is.” The content is very inspiring and helpful. These talks were not made into Treasures monthly offerings. The Anatomy of Yoga Secret Teachings of the Bible How to Test Your Spiritual Power Treasures Talks In the early years of Ananda, Swami Kriyananda gave all the talks, classes and events himself and there are thousands of reel to reel, cassettes and other media, full of these talks. Treasures Along the Path was started by Swami in 1998 so that devotees could join the talk of the month club and receive one newly digitized talk from the Ananda archives each month, as well as make individual talks available to everyone. The talks are kept in folders according to the date that Treasures issued the “new” talk. There is an excel spread sheet in the folder called “Lists and Info” that lists all the talks in alphabetical order previously issued by Treasures, the year they were issued and the date the class was given “original recording date.” See spreadsheet with the names of the talks “Lists of Talks in Alphabetical Order.”.

ISSN: 2455-2631 © November 2020 IJSDR | Volume 5 Issue 11 Impact of Pranayama, Hatha Yoga, and Raja Yoga Meditation on Executive Function and Metacognitive Regulation 1Susmita Patra, 2Dr. Ishita Chatterjee, 1Debolina Dasgupta 1Outgoing Post Graduate Student, 2Associate Professor Department of Applied Psychology, University Of Calcutta, Kolkata, India Abstract: The present investigation studies the effects of Pranayama, Hatha yoga and Raja yoga meditation on Executive Function and Metacognitive regulation. A sample of 60 students was selected for the study. They were randomly allotted to one of three yoga groups (pranayama, hatha yoga, raja yoga meditation) of 20 members. The working memory, inhibitory control and metacognitive regulation were measured by WAIS-IV working memory subtest, Stroop test and metacognitive awareness inventory (MAI) respectively. The pre-training test scores were collected following which they were provided yoga training for 30 days. Tests were again conducted at the 10-day point and at the end of training after 30 days. Findings revealed that all the three types of yogic patterns lead to an increase in Executive function and Metacognitive regulation. The length of training also affected the test scores. Longer the training, better were the scores on all three tests. The interaction effect of yoga type and length of training was only significant for metacognitive regulation. Index terms: Pranayama, hatha yoga, raja yoga meditation, executive function, metacognitive regulation. I. Introduction: ‘Yoga’, the connection of the Supreme Being with the living, is an orthodox school of Indian philosophy. In India, yoga is not only a form of physical exercise, but also a spiritual practice and a way of living.

  • 200 TT Manual Deep River Yoga
Weekend Seven Choosing a Yoga Style Sherry Roberts Nearly all yoga styles are rooted in hatha yoga, yoga’s physical discipline that focuses on developing control of the body through asanas or poses. In Sanskrit, h a represents sun and t ha represents moon. Hatha represents the duality in life — yin and yang, masculine and feminine, darkness and light. It leads the way to balancing these opposing forces. It is the yoga of physical wellbeing. While all yoga styles seek to balance the body, mind, and spirit, they go about it in various ways. They may differ in how asanas are done and where they focus the attention (on mastering and holding the posture, on strict alignment, on breathing, on the flow of movement). Some will use props for the asanas; others will crank up the temperature in the room and go for the sweat. No style is better than another; it is simple a matter of personal preference. Find a teacher that you can relate to and a style that furthers your own personal growth. more on styles Liz Lark's book, Yoga for Life: Finding and Learning the Right Form of Yoga for Your Lifestyle, is a beautiful and useful addition to your yoga library. If you are wondering what style fits you, this is the book for you. Lark goes into detail about the practices of five yoga styles: viniyoga, Iyengar, astanga vinyasa, sivananda, and tantra. You'll get a good picture of what distinguishes a style, a bit about its history and philosophy, and what a typical practice entails (including detailed instructions and attractive photography of poses).

  • Teacher Feature and Ashtanga Yoga Standing Poses by Caroline
TEACHER OF THE MONTH I’ve been practicing and teaching Ashtanga yoga for almost 20 years and have taught workshops, retreats and teacher trainings across the world. I started teaching workshops internationally in Caroline 2002 and taught workshops in Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, the UK, Barcelona, Singapore, Bangkok, Kenya and other locations around the world. The first yoga retreat I lead was Klebl a yoga safari retreat in Tanzania. Additionally, I led yoga retreats in Ibiza and Bali. When yoga centres requested I teach yoga teacher training courses, I developed a week-long program, which I taught in South Africa, Jakarta, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur. In 2008, I developed 200 and 500-hour yoga teacher training programs, which meet the international yoga teacher training standards of the yoga alliance. I conducted my first yoga teacher training retreat in Bali. Since this course was a wonderful success, I continued teaching yoga teacher training programs in Bali, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Brazil, Jamaica, Greece, Italy, India, Mexico, San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles. My yoga teacher trainings are open to yoga teachers, aspiring teachers and to those who would like to learn Ashtanga yoga or improve their yoga practice. I’ve trained over 200 yoga teachers in Los Angeles, in addition to the 250 yoga teachers I trained on retreat courses. Graduates of my courses teach yoga all over the world. I teach Ashtanga yoga, a Vinyasa based yoga asana practice, which includes hundreds of yoga poses that are divided into the primary, intermediate and advanced series. Vinyasa are breath-initiated movements, which connect one pose to the next.

2019 PROGRAMS 2019 sivanandayogaranch.org | 845.436.6492 sivanandayogaranch.org | 845.436.6492 WELCOME TO THE YOGA RANCH Om Namo Narayanaya, Blessed Self, Whether you are considering your first Yoga Vacation, or a residential Yoga Teacher Training Course, or you are a Yoga teacher preparing for a more advanced training, or an old friend of the Ashram returning to nourish your personal practice with a seasonal Yoga Retreat, we welcome you. And we especially welcome you who are relatively new to Yoga and Ashram life. We would like to prepare you for a new kind of unforgettable vacation. What is your “bottom line” for a vacation? A vacation is both a renewal and a reward for many hours of hard work that have opened the space in life where you can get away, rest and renew, and reconnect to what is really meaningful. Yoga, by definition, is that reconnection and renewal. Yoga— physically, emotionally, philosophically, integrally, mystically, and spiritually— offers pathways to that reconnection. It can be hard work, but it is work that strengthens, invigorates, and nourishes the body, mind, and soul. Come join us to rediscover your inner sacred space with twice daily Yoga asana classes and meditation satsangs. Explore the sacred nature that feeds our bodies, minds, and souls with quiet forest walks, or dig into the Ashram gardens that provide us with fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The bottom line of Yoga living is delving into the sacred. This is the goal of an Ashram vacation. Dive deep within and reconnect to the sacred. Find sacred silence.

  • The Energization Exercises: 40 Years of Stories
The Energization Exercises — 40 Years of Stories by Rambhakta 5133 words; download as PDF Nobody wants to read this. Seriously, unless you’re already powerfully motivated to do (whatever it is), you just won’t care. Thus the secret of starting a regular practice of Paramhansa Yogananda’s energization exercises is to figure out how to like them. As Swami Kriyananda said in Out of the Labyrinth, we should never give up something (e.g., sitting on our arses thinking about doing the rechargers) until we’re ready, with inner knowing, to replace it with something higher. Toshiro Mifune (on right) as the fool in The Seven Samurai. And that’s the kicker, isn’t it? Are the rechargers better than not doing them in the first place? No glamorous movies have been made about them – no Seven Recharging Monks, no Energizer Kid, no Recharger Trilogy, no Energizer Assassin, no Enter the Energizer, no A Touch of Energization, no Crouching Energizer, Hidden Recharger. From the memory banks: I once watched Swami Kriyananda lead the guests at the Expanding Light in the rechargers. Swamiji stood on the front steps, while the guests stood on the ground facing him. “Great,” I thought, I’ll take pictures of Swamiji and show the world how they really should be done. I had a mental image of him swelling up like the Incredible Hulk and rocketing through them like Ironman. Alas, he did them like a regular person, looking rather like an ordinary middle-aged shlump. So much for Samurai Swamiji. But I understood: the rechargers are about working inwardlywith energy – they are pranayam – energy-control exercises.
