The American Brittany American The The American Brittany American The Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame

Nominations begin March 1 and close July 1

On behalf of the Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame (BFTHF), we are asking you to participate in the BFTHF nomination process. The BFTHF is part of the Bird Dog Foundation, Grand Junction, TN.

Purpose The purpose of the BFTHF is to recognize and honor Brittanys and Brittany owners that have made significant contributions to the Sport of Field Trialing. To date, 75 Brittanys and 47 Brittany enthusiasts have been inducted and pictures of these dogs and people are displayed in the Hall of Fame. “To be enshrined in a Hall of Fame is the greatest achievement in field trial sports”

Nominations You are a member of the nominating committee and your support is needed. We want you to nominate those you believe are Outstanding Brittanys and Distinguished Brittany people. Outstanding dogs are recognized by their entire competitive career, field trial performance record (championship wins) and production record. They must be deceased at least one year prior to opening of nominations March 1. These are the same dogs you would like to find in the pedigree of that good pup you just bought ! Distinguished people have rendered exemplary service to the sport of field trialing both locally and nationally for a long period of time. These contributions may be as a judge, a breeder, a field trial official, a reporter, a patron or any combination thereof. The sport is better because of these people who are givers, not takers or self promoters.

Nominations Process Visit the Election Procedure page on our website at www.brittanyfieldtrialhalloffame.com to review the Election Criteria and Guidelines. A nominator should prepare a bio with facts that outline a dog or person’s worthiness to be a member of the BFTHF. The nomination and a photo should be sent by email to [email protected] or by regular mail to Mary Crawford, Corresponding Secretary, 11902 Mile Dr., Houston, TX 77065. Support letters should be sent to [email protected] by anyone wishing to add support for a nominee.

Election and Induction After the nomination period has closed, the BFTHF Election Committee will vote using the bios submitted for each nominee. Normally, no more than two worthy dogs and persons will be elected in any calendar year. Induction ceremonies are held in early February of the following year.

Send emails for assistance to Mary Crawford, Corresponding Secretary, 281-469-2234, [email protected] VOLUME LXVIV • NUMBER 1 • January 2017 Objective and Purpose: To promote cooperation and friendship among the breeders and owners of Brittanys and to encourage higher standards in breeding, training and showing of Brittanys in the field and in the show ring; to discourage the breed from becoming split into groups of “field dogs” and “show dogs” and to strive to keep it forever a “dual dog”.

8 2016 ABC Chicken Classic/Championship Bassett, Nebraska September 19, 2016 By Mary Karbiner

The sand hills are a unique area to the Midwest with rolling hills and tall grass meadows that prairie chickens thrive in. This is the only Brittany All-Age stake with native birds. The prairie chicken cannot be caged and released to supplement the population for an event. The first ABC Prairie Chicken Classic Was held at Buena Vista Grasslands Area near Plover, Wisconsin in 1964. In 1975 it began to rotate between there and Nebraska. The last event in Wisconsin was held in 2000. The sand hills have been its’ home since that time.

The committee would like to thank everyone who participated and helped with the work. New comers this year were Dr. Joe Williams of Hillard, Ohio and Kevin and Joey Rogers of Vail, Arizona. MEMBERS OF THE AMERICAN BRITTANY CLUB Give the gift of a new membership… to give the opportunity to someone to learn about and participate in the American Brittany Club. This membership campaign is really quite simple, we are asking every member to donate/sponsor a membership in the American Brittany Club. This “gifted” membership might be to a puppy purchaser, or a friend/acquaintance who has a Brittany. All of us encounter people who may just need a little encouragement to become members. This can work, but it is totally dependent upon your support. Please use the ABC application form in the back of the magazine to enroll a new member today. You may donate/sponsor multiple new memberships. The names of new members & ABC sponsors will be published in the magazine on a quarterly basis. THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
