The history of Telangana at the time of the formation of the Telangana region of Hyderabad State on 2 June 2014 consisted of 8 districts in 1948, when it was introduced to the Dominion of India; are Atraf-e-Baldah (Hyderabad), Mahbubnagar district, Medak district, Nalgonda district (Nalgunda), Nizamabad district, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Varangal. The Hammam district was created as a result of the Bifurkament of the Varangala district on 1 October 1953. Andhra Pradesh was formed by the merger of the Telangana region of Hyderabad state and Andhra state on November 1. In the Hammam district, Bhadrachalam and Aswaraopet taluk units were merged from the Godavarian region to improve governance. The Hyderabad district was divided into Hyderabad City District and Hyderabad Rural District on August 15, 1978.Hyderabad City District was made by 4 Talukas: Sharminar, Golconda, Mushirabad and Seconderabad Talukas, which consist only of the district of MCH, the canton of Sekanderabad and the University of Osmani. Hyderabad Rural District was later renamed Ranga Reddy. Telangana is carved from 10 districts from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Seven mandalas from the Bhadrachal division were handed over to East Godavari. On 11 October 2016, 21 new districts were established, with 31 districts in Telangan. All areas were divided into a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 5, with the exception of Hyderabad, which was untouched. On 17 February 2019, two new districts, Mulugu and Narayanpet, were established, bringing the total number of districts to 33. The Narayanpet district has 11 mandalas. District statistics in terms of area, Bhadradri Kothagudem is the largest area with an area of 7,483 sq km (2,889 sq m) and Hyderabad is the smallest with 217 sq km (84 sq m). Hyderabad is the most populous area with a population of 39,43,323, and Mulugu is the least populated with 2,94,671 people. Telangana consists of 68 income departments and 584 income mandals (Tehsil).
