I've been working feverishly to standardize my LUGTrek sheets, add some new varieties, and just plain improve them. Whether you're playing TNG, TOS, Klingons, Romulans, Starfleet or Merchant Marines, I have a sheet variant for you! Each is laid out the same way all the other sheets are, allowing for ease of use, and in the case of the Form versions, easy transfer of form data from one style of form to another (as always, there is a slight cosmetic difference due to the nature of multi-line form fields, but otherwise the two versions are identical). I have settled on a six-page format for the time being with information being arranged as progressively 'peripheral,' allowing minimalists to have all the must-have info on pages 1 and 2, but blanks for pictures, background info, etc. on other sheets in case you're one of those people who don't separately type up their own 10-page character histories. Note that TOS sheets have their own page. Note to users of my earlier Acrobat Forms versions: As always, you should be able to import your old form data into these forms with little trouble. Note concerning Acrobat Forms: You can import form data or type in form data with the freely-available Acrobat Reader, just make sure you have the most recent version from Adobe's web site. However, you cannot save/export form data without the commercial version, Acrobat Exchange. During this time popular culture offered consumers a few women of strength and power, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Major Kira Nerys, a character encompassing a complex personality of non-traditional feminine identities. As the first continuing character in the Star Trek franchise to serve as a female second-in-command, Major Kira spoke to women of the 90s through her anger, passion, independence, and willingness to show compassion and love when merited. In this thesis I look at the building blocks of Major Kira to discover how it was possible to create a character in whom viewers could see the future as well as the current and relatable decade of the 90s. By laying out feminisms which surround 90s television and using original interviews with Nana Visitor, who played Major Kira, and Marvin Rush, the Director of Photography on DS9, I examine the creation of Major Kira from her conception to her realization. I finish by using historical and cognitive poetics to analyze both the pilot episode “Emissary” and the season one episode “Duet,” which introduce Major Kira and display character growth.

Academically speaking, there’s no shortage of scholarly papers addressing issues of race, gender, sexuality, technology, ethics, and morality as depicted in all these mediums.1 And that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how Star Trek has been and will continue to be examined as each generation comes to understand the franchise within the context of their reality. APOLOGIA: LAW AND FILM It is too early to say whether the law-and-cinema discourse will... succeed in creating modes of analysis that are capable of withstanding conceptual, empirical, and ethical critique. Ornamenting our jurisprudential analysis with a reference to such or such a film or attaching an analysis of a film to a legal or moral statement of one type or another are liable to ultimately be but a transient fashion. Yet the conclusion that the discourse of law and cinema is doomed to be just a fad is equally hasty.1 Scholarly reflection on the portrayal of lawyers and legal processes in film is a growing practice.
