Questionnaire Survey Regarding the Design Concept for the Kutchan Questionnaire Survey regarding the Design Concept for the Kutchan Station Building on the Hokkaido Shinkansen Request for cooperation in this survey This questionnaire survey is conducted by Kutchan Town for reference when studying the design concept for the Kutchan Station building on the Hokkaido Shinkansen. For the survey, we have randomly selected 2,000 town residents aged 15 and older. Thank you for your time and kindness in responding to the questionnaire. Please complete the questionnaire and mail it in the enclosed envelope by Friday, September 18, 2020. *Handling of responses and personal information* The questionnaire survey is conducted in bearer form, so individuals cannot be identified. Personal information such as your name and address used for mailing this questionnaire survey is promptly disposed of after the questionnaire is sent out. September 2020 Town Planning and Shinkansen Bullet Train Division,Kutchan Town Tel. 0136-56-8012 (direct number to the section) Kutchan Station on the Hokkaido Shinkansen *Please read the following before completing the questionnaire. ■ The Hokkaido Shinkansen and Kutchan Station The Hokkaido Shinkansen is a rail line that runs through Hakodate City and Otaru City to Sapporo City. As of September 2020, the construction of the section between Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station and Sapporo Station (length: 212 km) is underway. The government and the ruling coalition agreed in January 2015 to aim at completing the section’s construction by the end of FY 2030 on the premise that local governments along the line proceed with maximum effort. The Hokkaido Shinkansen’s Kutchan Station will be constructed on the site around the current Kutchan Station. It is expected that the Hokkaido Shinkansen’s Kutchan Station will serve as the gateway to the world-class ski resorts in the Niseko area and play a role as a regional symbol. Against this backdrop, we will proceed with the construction of the station in cooperation with related organizations such as the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Planned construction site for Kutchan Station Agency (JRTT, the leading body of the construction) and JR, while on the Hokkaido Shinkansen taking into account the financial resources of Kutchan Town. After another amazing year, we are excited to be preparing for another winter here in Niseko and we want to welcome you to all that the Niseko area has to offer. As Niseko continues to grow and become more well- established as a destination, some things may be slightly different from p revious years: a new building here and there, some older buildings or businesses gone, swept up in the progress and change. But the overall scene and feel of Niseko is largely the same: great snow, a wealth of hot springs, and a wonderful variety of food and accommodations.
