The show runs through January 13, 2013. It is the first offering in this year's "Broadway at the November" series. Winner of a record breaking twelve Tony Awards, this Mel Brooks comedy tells the story of a washed up Broadway producer, Max Bialystock, and a neurotic accountant, Leo Bloom, and their scheme to make millions on a Broadway flop. Music and lyrics by Mel Brooks feature sixteen songs. With a colorful cast of 24, a live orchestra, extravagant set, and dazzling costumes, The Producers will be one of Virginia Rep’s largest productions this season. The show runs through January 10, 2015. With a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy is a crowning achievement in American musical theatre. Loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Lee Rose, Gypsy tells the story of Mama Rose, the ultimate stage mother, and her hopes and dreams for her daughters, June and Louise. As the lights of Vaudeville dim, Louise steps into the spotlight as Gypsy Rose Lee and rises to become one of the most famed burlesque performers of all time. The show opened on Broadway in 1959 and has had 5 revivals.
