Offi cial Partner of the EHF Champions League Men ©EHF www.nord-stream2.com Foreword EHF President Dear handball friends, Welcome to the 2020/21 season of the EHF Champions League Men and the start of its new era. As most of the sport competitions across the globe in the previous season, the EHF Champions League did not finish as we all hoped due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However, the EHF and EHF Marketing invested time during the break to prepare for the forthcoming season with the aim of developing the competition as the benchmark event in the indoor sports market. The 28th season of the European top-flight in 2020/21 will open a new chapter, when the new partnership with Infront and DAZN comes into effect and, from the fans’ point of view, there are two major developments: The EHF Champions League Men will be played in a new system with just 16 elite teams in two groups of eight, starting directly at the group phase played in a round-robin league format. There will be no qualification rounds or tournaments before. The top four teams in each group will then qualify directly for the quarter-finals with teams finishing in seventh and eighth place eliminated. The four remaining teams from each group (3rd-6th) will qualify for a play-off round, before progressing to the quarter-finals and then the EHF FINAL4. In addition, from the start of this season, fans will have an ‘appointment to view’ each week, and with no overlap of men’s and women’s top competitions. EHF Champions League Men games will be played on Wednesday and Thursday evenings (18:45 and 20:45 CEST/CET), with the weekends set-aside for DELO EHF Champions League games. After a long break, all 16 teams will be eager to be back playing at the highest level of European handball with the beginning of an exciting journey with a brand-new winners’ trophy as the prize at the competition’s conclusion. The line-up in both groups speak volumes about the quality of all squads and, even though there might be some favourites and underdogs on the paper, this competition’s history has already proven many times that surprising results can be expected on a daily basis. Even in this difficult time with necessary restrictions on the events, we, together with clubs and our partners, will make sure that the EHF Champions League Men will be seen, followed, heard and talked about as much as in the past years – if not even more. Yours in sport, Michael Wiederer EHF President Partners Suppliers 1 Uvodna beseda predsednika RK Celje Pivovarna Laško Spoštovani prijateljice in prijatelji rokometa in RK Celje Pivovarna Laško, drugačna sezona je pred nami in veliko bolj bi bil vesel, če bi lahko dobrodošlico izrekel polni dvorani Zlatorog. Navijači v njej ste že velikokrat pokazali, da ste osmi igralec naše ekipe in verjamem, da bodo prav igralci najbolj pogrešali glasno podporo, ki jim drugače doda še večji elan in jim pomaga prebroditi težke trenutke. Čeprav bi si vsi seveda želeli drugačne podobe in drugačnih razmer, pa se moramo naučiti živeti s Covid-19, dokler bo ta prisoten med nami, oziroma ne bo najdenih drugačnih rešitev. To pa seveda ne pomeni, da vaše podpore ne morete izraziti na drugačen način. Mi vse od trenutka izbruha virusa iščemo rešitve in ponujamo nove, drugačne možnosti, ki nam omogočajo, da smo še naprej skupaj. Namreč drugi druge v teh časih potrebujemo še bolj, pomagati si moramo med sabo in se vračati v normalnost. Šport je gotovo ena izmed bolj vidnih panog, ki si prizadeva to storiti čim prej in za dobro vseh. Pred nami je začetek prenovljene EHF Lige prvakov, katere del je Rokometni klub Celje Pivovarna Laško že 26. sezono. Za 25 odigranih sezon smo letos pripravili posebno kolekcijo dresov, t.i. “silver edition” s katero želimo to proslaviti skupaj z vami in Pivovarno Laško, ki je ves ta čas z nami in zaradi katere so ti posebni dresi zelene barve. Šport moramo slaviti, enako pa moramo slaviti priznanja, ki jih prejmemo. Eno takšnih, ki nam še posebej laska, je priznanje Evropske rokometne zveze za najboljšo rokometno šolo v Evropi. Celjska šola rokometa, s številnimi trenerji in posamezniki, že več kot 74 let ustvarja največje rokometne talente v Evropi. Samo v tem trenutku v drugih klubih lige prvakov nastopa natanko za eno ekipo igralcev, ki jih je brusila naša rokometna šola. Priznanje, ki smo ga dobili je čast, hkrati pa velika obveza, da bo to počela tudi v prihodnje. Z načinom dela in našo strategijo smo prepričani, da bo tako. Novost letošnje EHF Lige prvakov so tudi novi termini, ki bodo gledalcem pred televizijskimi sprejemniki še bolj naklonjeni, in to je prednost tega trenutka. Pred nami je izziv, ko bomo poizkušali navduševati vse vas, hkrati pa ponoviti lanski uspeh, ki je zaradi prekinitve tekmovanja ostal nedorečen. Ekipa, ki jo imamo, bo to poizkušala ponoviti. Zaupamo vanje, saj gre za dobre, enotne, borbene fante, ki pa potrebujejo podporo vseh nas! Prepričan sem, da se bomo ob koncu sezone lahko skupaj veselili.     Zgodovina Rokometnega kluba Celje Rokometni klub Celje – najuspešnejši slovenski športni klub Rokometni klub Celje sodi med najuspešnejše celjske in slovenske športne klube. V svoji bogati, več kot 70 – letni športni zgodovini, je nanizal številne uspehe, ki so zaznamovali Celje, kot tudi Slovenijo. V nadaljevanju vam ponujamo pregled delovanja tega velikega športnega kolektiva, ki je in bo zaznamoval šport v Celju in okolici. V obdobju bivše skupne države celjski rokometni klub ni posegal po najvišjih mestih, četudi je trikrat nastopal v finalu jugoslovanskega pokala. Predvsem ga je zaznamovala odlična šola rokometa, ki je celjske mladince večkrat postavila na sam vrh. Prav odlično delo je tisto, ki je vedno predstavljalo izjemne osnove za uspehe in razvoj športa ter rokometa v Celju. Največji uspehi kluba so prišli po osamosvojitvi Slovenije, ko je se je Rokometni klub Celje Pivovarna Slika 1 – Pokal, ki krasi celjske Laško postavil na veliki zemljevid Evrope, v lastni državi pa povsem vitrine in trofeja, ki je nima zavladal rokometnemu prostoru in nanizal uspehe, ki jih bo težko noben drug slovenski športni kolektiv ponovil katerikoli športni klub. Egypt 2021 28 3 4 Letter from Cairo, Issue 36th In Egypt, Hands of the World Compete & Fraternize In 2021, handball teams of 32 countries meet in hospitable Egypt from 13 to 31 January to vie for the title of world champions at the 27th IHF World Men’s Handball Championship. There is no doubt that Egypt’s hosting of this major sporting event has im- portant implications for Egypt, its people and the world. This is the largest global sporting event ever held anywhere in the world since the covid-19 pandemic, a year ago. The organization of this competi- tion in such circumstances reflects the extent of Egyptian capabilities in all areas of health, logistics, security and sports under these exceptional cir- cumstances. Undoubtedly, the international consensus to convene the championship at this time, despite all the current realities around the world, confirms confi- dence in Egypt’s success in dealing with the pandemic at all levels, and in the ability of the State, Egyptian people and the youth of the world participating in the championship, to come up with the 2021 edition in the best form, to the enjoyment of hundreds of millions of handball fans at a time when all the peoples of the world need moments of hope, pleasure and fair competi- tion after a very difficult year for everyone.

    MT entzaubert den Rekordmeister – 29:25-Sieg gegen Kiel Michael Allendorf Der Rekordmeister ist entzaubert! Mit einem hoch verdienten 29:25 (15:10)-Erfolg gegen den THW Kiel setzte die MT Melsungen ein ganz dickes Ausrufezeichen in der DKB-Handball- Bundesliga, bestätigte die eigenen Ambitionen auf einen Platz im oberen Drittel und stürzte die Zebras nach deren zweiter Niederlage in Folge in eine veritable Krise. Die MT nahm gegen Ende der ersten Hälfte das Heft in die Hand und brachte die mit 4.300 Zuschauern restlos ausverkaufte Kasseler Rothenbach- Halle fast durchgehend zum Jubeln. Auch wenn die Norddeutschen zur Mitte der zweiten Hälfte noch einmal näher kamen, geriet der Sieg Melsungens nie in wirkliche Gefahr. Michael Allendorf war mit sieben Treffern, davon drei Siebenmeter, erfolgreichster Schütze der Nordhessen. Für den THW traf Ekberg (7/4) am häufigsten. Ausgerechnet vor dem großen Spiel gegen den Rekordmeister hatte es die MT erwischt. Philipp Müller ebenso verletzt wie sein Zwillingsbruder Michael, Felix Danner angeschlagen, Johan Sjöstrand gehandicapt durch eine schwere Grippe unter der Woche. Die beiden letztgenannten saßen immerhin für Notfälle auf der Bank. Das waren alles andere als gute Voraussetzungen, was sich am deutlichsten in der Anfangsaufstellung zeigte. Da stand Nebojsa Simic zwischen den Pfosten und Youngster Johannes Golla neben Finn Lemke in der Innenverteidigung. Kiel musste ohne seine Langzeitverletzten Domagoj Duvnjak und Raul Santos auskommen, hatte aber immerhin René Toft Hansen wieder voll mit an Bord. Dennoch war es gerade die Deckung der Melsunger, die anfangs prima arbeitete und Simic das Leben und die Paraden einfacher machte. Anfälliger dagegen präsentierte sich der Angriff.
