Bruckner Orchester Linz Bruckner Orchester Linz The history of the Bruckner Orchester Linz spans 200 years of tradition and excellence. In the last three decades, it has won an international reputation as one of the leading orchestras of Central Europe. Consisting of 128 musicians, the orchestra is not only the concert orchestra for the state of Upper Austria but also the opera orchestra at the Landestheater Linz, and participates in the Bruckner Festival, the Ars Electronica Festival and the Linzer Klangwolke. The Bruckner Orchester Linz has performed extensively in The United States (2005, 2009), Germany, Spain and Italy under Chief Conductor Dennis Russell Davies in addition to appearances in Japan and France. Recent tours have featured concerts in Cologne, Paris, Vienna and Istanbul ans since 2012 the Orchestra is having its own concert cycle at the Musikverein Wien. The Bruckner Orchester records prolifically including recent productions of Bruckner’s “Nullte” and Fifth Symphonies in completion of a Bruckner cycle for arte nova/SONY as well as of Symphonies No. 6, 7, 8 and 9, The Voyage and the opera Kepler as CD and DVD by Philip Glass. The orchestra has already gained an excellent reputation for its recordings of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Siegfried Matthus, Franz Schmidt, Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Gustav Holst. During its long and venerable history, the orchestra has performed with such luminaries as Clemens Krauss, Hans Knappertsbusch, Sergiu Celibidache, Kurt Eichhorn, Vaclav Neumann, and Christoph von Dohnányi. In recent times, the distinguished roster has included Zubin Mehta, Serge Baudo, Horst Stein, Vladimir Fedosejew, Michael Gielen, Bernhard Klee, Steven Sloane, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Michael Schønwandt and Franz Welser-Möst. The Resident Conductor is Ingo Ingensand. Maestro Heinrich Schiff appears regularly with the orchestra, both as soloist and as conductor. He was named the Principal Guest Conductor in 2004 OÖ.     Ett porträtt av Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Orchestre de la Suisse Romande – One Century of Music Pentatone PTC5186791 [5 CD] Orchestre de la Suisse Romande bildades 1918 där syftet var att ge den fransktalande populationen i Schweiz en orkester som motpol till den dominerande tysktalande delen av landet. Den legendariske dirigenten Ernest Ansermet var grundaren av orkestern och hans kamp för att få orkestern att överleva både politiskt motstånd men även 1930-talets ekonomiska depression gjorde att han hade alla odds emot sig. På sikt lyckades orkestern att bli så etablerad som tanken var och orkestern fungerar väl än idag. I en ny box från Pentatone på 5 cd får vi höra musik framförd av orkesterns samtliga chefdirigenter. Ansermet var chef nästan 50 år mellan åren 1918–1967 och därefter har orkestern letts av följande dirigenter under betydligt kortare perioder: Paul Kletzki, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Horst Stein, Armin Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Pinchas Steinberg, Marek Janowski, Neeme Järvi och Jonathan Nott (orkesterns nuvarande chefsdirigent). Många välkända maestror har därmed haft ansvaret för orkestern genom åren men ingen så länge som grundaren själv. Denna box innehåller 19 olika verk vilket visar på den mångsidighet som finns hos orkestern. Den första skivan ägnas åt fransk musik, den andra åt tyska tonsättare, nr. 3 fokuserar på verk från 1900-talet och nr. 4 innehåller rysk musik. Den sista, den femte, ägnas åt en historisk inspelning från januari 1943, där Ansermet dirigerar Gustave Dorets ”Les Armaillis”, en dramatisk legend för solister, kör och orkester. After organ studies in his home town, he attended classes at the Royal Music Conservatory of Brussels where his orchestration and composition teacher was Paul Gilson.     De muzikale geschiedenis van de Bayreuther Festspiele, aflevering 21 door Johan Maarsingh Bayreuther Festspiele 1970-1975 In 1970 ging een nieuwe productie van Der Ring des Nibelungen in première. Het was de tweede keer dat Wolfgang Wagner de regie voerde in de tetralogie. In alle jaren was de muzikale leiding in handen van Horst Stein (1928-2008). De geboorteplaats van Stein was Elberfeld, dezelfde plaats waar dirigenten Hans Knappertsbusch en Günter Wand het levenslicht aanschouwden. Stein genoot zijn muzikale opleiding aan de Musikhochschule in Frankfurt en het Conservatorium in Keulen, waar hij orkestdirectie studeerde bij de reeds genoemde Günter Wand. Een gedegen training in het operavak als repetitor gaf Stein een enorm inzicht in een omvangrijk repertoire. Het bracht hem posities aan instellingen als de Hamburgse Staatsopera, de Berlijnse Staatsopera, de Weense Staatsopera, de Salzburger Festspiele en de Bayreuther Festspiele. In Bayreuth is Stein vanaf 1952 een aantal jaren werkzaam als repetitor en werkt hij mee aan de opvoeringen onder leiding van Herbert von Karajan, Keilberth, Knappertsbusch en Clemens Krauss. Inmiddels hebben die Iive-opnamen uit 1952-1953 een legendarische status. Horst Stein werkte met diverse orkesten intensief samen, zoals met de Bamberger Symphoniker en zelfs met het orkest van de Japanse Omroep. Met de Wiener Philharmoniker en het Orchestre de la Suisse Romande maakte Stein in de jaren ‘70 diverse plaatopnamen voor Decca. Live opnamen van menige operavoorstelling is op cd te vinden. Bijvoorbeeld Capriccio van Richard Strauss uit Salzburg in 1985, met Anton de Ridder als Monsieur Taupe (Orfeo). Op dat label zijn in de Bayreuth reeks nog geen opnamen onder zijn leiding verschenen, maar hij was wel de dirigent van filmopnamen die in Bayreuth werden gemaakt voor commerciële uitgave van Parsifal (opname uit 1981, Regie: Wolfgang Wagner) en ook van Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (opname uit 1984, eveneens in de regie van Wolfgang Wagner).
