Ed Benes, GAIL SIMONE, Adriana Melo : Birds of Prey Vol. 1: Endrun (Birds of Prey (DC Comics)) before purchasing it in order to gage whether or not it would be worth my time, and all praised Birds of Prey Vol. 1: Endrun (Birds of Prey (DC Comics)):

It only has the faintest tangential connection to that crossover event. Conversely, don't avoid buying it because of the label. Also, don't buy this if you've haven't read any of Simone's previous Birds of Prey books. Before reading this, you should know who Savant, Creote, and Sin are.Do read this if you've read and enjoyed her previous work on the series.Gail Simone wrote a very well- received run of Birds of Prey from issues 56 to 108. After DC put it title into other hands from 109-127, they gave it back to Simone with a new #1 issue. This version of the book would last for 15 issues, after which reboot... put it into other hands again. Oh, DC!Issues 1-4: This story introduces a new villain - the White Canary. No, she's not related to Dinah at all. Also starring the .Issues 5-6: At this point Ed Benes isn't doing the art any more. I almost dinged the book a star for this since the replacement artists are inferior, but I decided the previous story was good enough to leave it at 4 stars.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I love this book!By CrystalI was trying to get back into reading comic books. I love the TV show Arrow, especially Caity Lotz's . So I gave Birds of Prey a try.I love this book! This arc was kick ass! If you want to read about some strong female characters, I'd give this a read. But if you haven't read Birds of Prey before, I'd start with the Of Like Minds story arc. Because the characters are coming back together for another run, it's a better experience if you had read earlier Birds of Prey comics that way you be nostalgic about the good old days along with The , Oracle, and the others.I didn't have a problem with the art like some did. I thought it was great. Although, I feel like its been so long since I;ve read a comic book that I'm not really an authority on what's good art and what's great art.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Birds Fly High. Um, sorry about that.By Garrett WroblewskiI just finished reading Birds of Prey: End Run written by Gail Simone with art by Ed Benes and Adriana Melo. Without a doubt, one of the finest Bat- spinoff books, this reboot of the series Birds of Prey is the finest work I've seen on this series to date.Essentially a team of hot chicks dressed like strippers, the light cheesecake art is gorgeous and crisp. Some of the covers (by artist Alina Urusov) are stunning in their depth and realism. That being said, comics with hot chicks running around in sexy outfits are a dime a dozen and most of them suck. What sets Birds of Prey apart is the writing by Gail Simone. Having a woman write the female internal dialogue, especially an author as talented as Simone, leads to multi- dimensional characters and interactions that in lesser hands would fall flatter than Kiera Knightley's chest. In End Run, the Birds are reunited after disbanding when all their secrets are threatened to be revealed by a mystery man ( or woman...foreshadowing, hint hint) that has a vendetta against the girls. Kidnapped children. Globe-trotting adventures. Lots of leg and cleavage shots. Typical superhero stuff, but definitely a cut above. I'm also a tad biased as my favorite character, The Huntress, is a devout Catholic whose faith often dictates her actions. Not something you usually see in a comic. Nothing revolutionary here, but a vastly superior guilty pleasure. Grade: A-
