This time Oracle sends Huntress incognito to infiltrate a cult compound - three former teen members had just committed suicide in separate incidents - based in the Birds of Prey: Volume 5 Northwest wilderness. Mari '' McCabe was sent initially Birds of Prey: Volume 5 undercover operative, but has she been irreversibly 'turned' by the group? I admire 's skill in keeping the story trucking along with the non-stop action and suspense. There was also a nice concluding chapter, introducing Zinda '' Blake with a brief bio. It just doesn't get boring, and feels like a cut above other graphic novel series. Jan 02, James DeSantis rated it liked it. This was a solid read though I had a few issues. We finally get a more interesting storyline for Huntress. When she has to go undercover for Barbara and try to find out why kids are dressing themselves as superheroes before killing themselves we get a pretty solid storyline. This is also a volume filled with a self-doubting Babs and almost becomes something very evil. Then the watchtower gets blown up but we don't really know why, must be in a book. Then we tie up some more stuff of previ This was a solid read though I had a few issues. Then we tie up some more stuff of previous villains. Good: I enjoyed the wrap up storyline from the first volume a lot. I think the dialogue is mostly well done and you get a different feel for each main hero. The ending works well and I think the pacing was steady throughout. Bad: The jumps in time and events is annoying and hard to keep up with. I think the art still oversexualizes things. Overall, a solid read. Better than last volume but not as good as volume 3. Let's see how it goes on! Another enjoyable volume! I really liked seeing Vixen! She's a character I find very intriguing but I haven't seen her in a lot of other books I've read. It was interesting seeing her work alongside Helena who's, pretty much always, really prickly. I Another enjoyable volume! I generally really Birds of Prey: Volume 5 when strong willed female characters are presented that way but it seems this is a common view of the character? It's done a lot better in this series, in my opinion. Helena ends up trying to Birds of Prey: Volume 5 her worth here and coming into conflict with the moral views of Birds of Prey: Volume 5 characters like Vixen, but she learns how to compromise. And in the end, she's still very much Helena. I loved the intro of Lady Blackhawk! I love what she does later on in this series. My favorite part of this volume was Dinah and Babs' relationship. Dinah is so protective and supportive of Babs and it's lovely to see! In another life, I like to think they would have ended up together, to be honest. They would have been one kick ass power couple. Nov 03, The Sapphic Nerd rated it it was amazing. Fantastic all around. The writing is top notch and the art is lovely. Birds of Prey comics are always something I enjoy, but Gail Simone's characterization is what makes Birds my Birds of Prey: Volume 5 favourite comic series. Each character has their own unique personality and something special they bring to Birds of Prey: Volume 5 team in terms of skills, as well as through social interactions. The relationship between Canary and Oracle is different from Oracle and Huntress, and is different from Huntress and Canary. And readin Fantastic all around. And reading the three of them together is a blast. That idea of friendship and developing friendships is what makes Birds of Prey so distinct from other comics, and what makes it so enjoyable. This volume is no exception. This is great stuff and you don't want to miss out on it. Nov 07, Sesana rated it liked it Shelves: superhumanscomics. I didn't like this trade quite as much as the one before it. I wasn't terribly interested in the cult storyline, and I didn't feel like Vixen was used quite as well as she could have been. That said, I am interested to see what will happen next, and I still like the way Simone writes her main characters. Dec 24, Claire rated it really liked it Shelves: graphic-novel. The adventure continues and deepens in Gail Simone's run of Birds of Prey. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Feb Birds of Prey: Volume 5, Ari Odinson rated it it was amazing Shelves: favorites. The dynamics and the relations between the characters feel realistic and like a real family. Oracle brings in Huntress and Black Canary. Both of them are troubled when they join the Birds of Prey: Volume 5. Meanwhile, Huntress struggles to work in the field as she faces the cult. She helps serve as a voice of reason. and the Birds of Prey Vol 1 5 | DC Database | Fandom

Black Canary remembers Batgirl having been present, but Ivy does not. Starling remembers the Cleaners they saw being just empty suits, but Katana remembers fighting them Birds of Prey: Volume 5 hours. They have little time to debate the issue, because a small army of men armed with machine guns opens on them. When the police arrive, the girls escape to an abandoned shop six blocks Birds of Prey: Volume 5. Black Canary decides that they should rest and then regroup in 24 hours at the roof of the RH Kane Building. She writes the address on Starling's arm so that she can remember it. That night, Ev practices her shooting, but discovers that her aim is bad, which causes her to doubt whether or not her hand really was broken. She takes a walk to clear her head, but can't shake the feeling that someone is watching Birds of Prey: Volume 5 every move. She eventually sneaks into an apartment through a window and surprises a girl named June. June has apparently asked not to see Ev again, but with her there now, she is glad of her company. Later on, in the early morning, Black Canary intercepts Batgirl during her patrol and asks whether they really were together the night before. Batgirl seems to have no memory of being in on the mission, and has no memory of ever agreeing to be a part of the Birds of Prey team. Disappointed, Dinah leaves. The next morning, Dinah trains alone in a dojo that she rented under a false name. She is surprised when Katana appears and asks to join her - particularly since none of her team knows about the dojo. Still, Dinah is glad to have someone to distract her from her own thoughts. As they spar, Katana wonders if there is anyone special in Dinah's life, and Dinah sadly responds that her lifestyle does not afford her the chance to meet men. Katana assures Dinah that though she may not have a man, she does have friends in Evelyn and Tatsu herself. Later that morning, Poison Ivy is meditating when she hears the crack of a twig behind her. She turns to find a man carrying a black briefcase. She has been expecting him, and she reports that she has Birds of Prey: Volume 5 a valuable member of the team. She promises that she will honour her arrangement with him and then he gives her the briefcase. When she opens it, her face is bathed in a pale green light. That afternoon, Dinah stops at a diner for some coffee, and while reading a newspaper, she catches sight of an article looking for a man named Eric Beetner. She recognizes his face, and has a revelation about the case which prompts her to call Dr. Trevor Cahill. That night, the team assembles atop the R. Kane Building, though Starling seems to be late. Batgirl attends, despite her earlier condemnations and her tense relationship with Ivy. Black Canary calls their attention and reveals that these "Cleaner" soldiers that they've been fighting are likely sleeper agents of Choke's. Eric Beetner was one of these, until he exploded in their faces. Starling, meanwhile is on the Finger River Bridge - the location that Black Canary wrote on her arm 24 hours ago. She wonders where the others are, and why Dinah would choose such an open area for a meeting. Suddenly, she is set upon by the elite task force who has been hunting her for years. She thinks maybe Black Canary set her up, and Birds of Prey: Volume 5 into the Finger River in order to escape the hail of bullets. Jun 06, Anne rated it liked it Shelves: comicsgraphic-novelsread-in Bye Bye Birdie s This is the final volume of this run of Birds of Prey, and it does an ok ish job of disbanding the team. Warning: If you haven't read the previous volumes, I may end up spoiling some stuff for you! It opens with Dinah's origin in the Zero Year issue, and shows how she went from a homeless street rat to badass special operative. It was honestly one of the better Zero Year stories that I've read. In the Birds of Prey: Volume 5 volume, Dinah discovers that her husband, Kurt Lance, didn't die. In this one, the strange and immortal woman named Mother Eve offers to try to help Kurt. She also asks for the Birds help against Ra's al Ghul, who is coming for Mother Eve while she regenerates and is basically defenseless. There's a lot packed into this volume. Birds of Prey: Volume 5 makes an appearance to keep things fun, and Dinah has a face-off with over the fact that she kept her knowledge of Kurt's aliveness a secret from her. Spoilery Secrets Revealed! Dinah has to make a choice between saving Kurt and betraying Mother Eve, or letting him finish out life as a vegetable. Condor has to decide if he really wants Kurt in the picture, or if it would be easier to move in on Dinah if Kurt were permanently out of the picture. I'm sooo not into Condor as Black Canary's love interest. Batgirl is dealing with the fallout of Death of the Family and killing her brother while fighting with Black Canary over the best way to run the team. The new Batgirl had a bunch of tension and fighting between those two, and at least now I know why. Although, it still seems stupid, if I'm being Birds of Prey: Volume 5. I'm seriously not sure why Batgirl got so angry with Black Canary for wanting to make her newly Birds of Prey: Volume 5 comatose husband her first priority. Big Battle! Lots of Choices! The End! Sort of Because to finish this out we get to read another wonky Future's End story. In this one Dinah has taken over the League of Assassins, and is using it to rescue victims of human trafficking. Batgirl, or Burly Betty, or whatever she's calling herself in the Future's End stuff shows up, as well. I've said it before, but I'm not a huge fan of the Birds of Prey. I would like to be a huge fan, however, because they seem like a cool team. This run didn't knock my socks off, but I'm not giving up on these ladies. Recommended for Birds of Prey completionists. And the art is just Sometimes it looks like a bad knock-off, and I don't like Quitely's style to begin with. So characters In Birds of Prey: Volume 5 other book, I love Black Canary. Here, she's a decent chunk of the reason I don't like it. Her husband, who she thought was dead, is actually just in a coma. I get that it's It tears me up inside to give a Birds of Prey title a bad review, but there's no way around it. I get that it's tough emotionally, but the way she's written feels whiny. On top of that, her emotional instability is getting her into fights with the other Birds - particularly Batgirl. Speaking of Batgirl, poor Babs! She's trying to keep things together and to get Canary to focus, but Canary's all over the place. Part of Canary's problem and my biggest problem Birds of Prey: Volume 5 the Birds lately is Condor.
