Annual Report for 2015 | 16 | Charles E. Smith Life Communities We are blessed to be able to PARTICIPATE AS VOLUNTEERS in a home for the elderly that serves both them, and us, so very, very well.”

— Everett Mattlin, Volunteer

SERVICE VOLUNTEERS Volunteers from the community serve campus residents and support staff in innumerable ways, demonstrating that residents are remembered and valued. In 2003, attorney Arnold Hammer began leading the Men’s Schmooze Group at the Hebrew Home, later enlisting Harold Schneiberg as co-leader. The two volunteers plan lively discussions covering sports, political nominees, and other events in the news. They were named recipients of the 2015 Kitty Davis Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. Outstanding volunteers, Arnold Hammer and Harold Schneiberg

Smith Life Communities About this year’s report

Most of the images throughout this annual report have been captured from our 2015 video, We are Blessed. The video takes its name from the upbeat soundtrack, a song by Rick Recht whose lyrics speak about being blessed with eyes to see the good in the world, with hearts to love each other, and with choice to live where we want to live, a fitting theme for our campus. The cover shot features Jack and Shirley Serber, who in August 2015, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
