I also want to thank my supervisor, Natalie Fenton, who manages to combine the sharpest of minds with the warmest of hearts. Your support has meant so much to me over the past few years. The encouragement and constructive criticism of others at Goldsmiths has also been invaluable, especially Aeron Davis, Des Freedman and Gholam Khiabany, who all kindly read drafts of chapters for me. Next, I want to note my debt to my dear colleagues in Journalism at the University of Roehampton. I especially want to thank Ros Coward, whose passionate belief that practitioners should ‘get into’ research started me off down this route in the first place. In addition, the words of advice and support from colleagues at other institutions have been really helpful, especially those of Mel Bunce, Lilie Chouliaraki, Glenda Cooper, Nick Couldry, Shani Orgad, Chris Paterson, Martin Scott, Helen Yanacopulos and Silvio Waisbord.

  • Lettera Sassoli Chiusura Parlamento IT.Pages

Politica - Castaldo-Lupo (M5S): "Su Alitalia Commissione Ue rischia di ledere interessi consumatori e lavoratori" Roma - 06 apr 2021 (Prima Pagina News) "Servono buon senso e imparzialità". Brussels, 30/07/2021 Ms. Ursula Von Der Leyen President of the European Commission Sent via email to: [email protected] Mr. Josep Borrell Vice President of the European Commission/High Representative Sent via email to: [email protected] To the President of the Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen, To the Vice President of the Commission/High Representative Josep Borrell, We, undersigned members of the European Parliament, are writing you to bring your attention to the alarming human rights and humanitarian situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been amply documented in the International Human Rights Watch World Report 2021 as well as the reports of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in 2018 and 2019. This Indian-administered region had already suffered a debilitating lockdown since the revocation of its special status in 2019, and the restraints on the rights to movement, access to information, health care, education as well as free speech have been intensified by the Covid-19 pandemic. Journalists and human rights defenders have been increasingly targeted for raising their voice in support of the Kashmiri people and denounce their situation. Arbitrary detentions continue, public assembly is still prohibited under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (CrPC) and hundreds, including minors and several elected legislators of Jammu and Kashmir, remain under preventive detention. Unfortunately, a number of legislations introduced by the Indian governments over the years to prevent terrorism and separatism, including the Special Powers Act (SPA), the Armed Forces Special Protection Act (AFSPA) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), have been often misused against the Kashmiri population.

Today, exactly 160 years ago, the women's rights activist Anita Augspurg was born here in Verden. With this award we want to honour and encourage women who are committed to combating militarism and war. On behalf of the International Women's League for Peace and Freedom, I want to thank all those who made this award ceremony possible. My special thanks go to: Mayor Lutz Brockmann, Annika Meinecke, the city representative for equal opportunities members of the City Council of Verden, all employees of the Town Hall, all supporters, especially the donors. I am particularly pleased that the Syrian journalist and filmmaker, Zaina Erhaim is here with us today to receive this award in person. "Ahlan wa Sahlan fi Verden" (Welcome to Verden!). Wa-yas' eduni an arahab Zaina huna al- yaum (And I am very happy to welcome Zaina here today) Before I talk about Zaina Erhaim, please allow me to start by recalling Anita Augspurg’s life and specific commitments: She was an independent woman who could not be forced into the corset of 19th century’s social conventions. This was already evident in her choice of career: She first became an actress and later opened a famous photo studio in Munich.

Dr Stella Kyriakides Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, European Commission And Dr Thierry Breton Commissioner for Internal Market, European Commission And: Dr Rafael Mariano Grossi IAEA Director Subject: Transport of Radiopharmaceuticals in the European Union Brussels, 22th April 2020 Dear Commissioners, Dear Director during this pandemic period, the outcome of which is unknown, we must continue to ensure that services in the hospitals are provided to patients who require radiopharmaceutical care. Radiopharmaceuticals are drugs that are used for imaging diagnosis and therapy. Radiopharmaceuticals are crucial to provide CT scans for COVID-19 patients (SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging) as well as for fragile patient populations, such as cancer and cardiac patients. Due to the radioactive part the shelf life is extremely limited and measured in hours and days. Whereas most regular drugs have shelf lives of months or years and can be produced in mass quantities, radiopharmaceuticals are produced in much smaller quantities and have to be produced for delivery just in time. This is often the day after production, and they are given to a patient usually on that day. In case of a imaging procedure, the scan also takes place the same day. This means that in the EU countries in over 90% of cases the time between the patient dose being ordered, produced, shipped and the actual diagnostic or therapeutic test is 24 hours. Furthermore, these short timeframes are extremely important since a radiopharmaceutical that cannot be used on the day of delivery and preparation in the hospital must be discarded. These days, the number of controls at the borders have seriously increased (potentially causing delays) and the administrative demands are sometimes hard to follow and fulfil.

The commitment announced by the Commission last month that the UE would deliver 651.000 Pfizer/BioNTech doses of coronavirus vaccines to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia from May to August, finally materialized with the start of the distribution of hundreds of thousands of coronavirus vaccines this week. We also welcome and greatly appreciate the visits paid by Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, to the Western Balkans in these days and his encouraging words of support for the enlargement perspectives of these countries, which are not only neighbours and partners but first and foremost future Members of the European Union. The vaccines the EU is delivering right now are coming directly from the EU, rather than the COVAX programme, being part of the €70 million aid package adopted in December 2020.
