The patients were unable to partici- pate in the official Name the Crane Competition (due to the age limit). However they were motivated to participate in a “nickname the crane” competition. Special award recognises dedication Indigenous Health Worker Jesse James was recognised with a special award at the recent Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service Aboriginal and Torrest Strait Islander Staff Forum at Dreamtime Cultural Centre. Unfortunately, Jesse was unable to collect his award on the night, so his colleagues in Biloela held a special ceremony this week, where Rural Director of Nursing Ellen Palmer made the presentation. Jesse’s award was for dedication and professionalism in the support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. He has worked hard to develop strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Biloela, through his dedication to learning and commitment to his role. Congratulations Jesse! 8 the DR FT Workshops help Mental Health workers Last week the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Learning (QCMHL) held two Clinical Supervision Workshops in Rockhampton. There was a one-day “Introduction to Clinical Supervision Workshop” and a two-day “Clinical Supervisor’s Workshop”. Clinical supervision is a designated interaction between two or more practitioners within a safe and supportive environment, which enables a process of reflective, critical analysis of care, to ensure quality consumer services. The Healthy Choices Program is an initiative of Queensland Health’s Community Nutrition- ist service as part of the Chronic Diseases Program with the goal of taking the confusion out of trying to make a healthy choice when eating out. The products identified with the Healthy Choice logo are the menu items with lower fat and higher vegetable content. Souvlaki Hut is a perfect addi- tion to the program as they have a range of souvs with 7.5g of fat or less and offer souvs in two sizes making portion control easier for waistline watchers.
