FOR ALL RACE DAY PACKAGES AND NEWS VISIT WWW.CALLAGHANPARK.COM.AU Last year’s winner of the 2YO Classic, Wicked Ways (pictured front cover), is one of the success stories of the Capricornia Yearling Sale. The gelding, by American stallion Wicked Style from the Tsuimai mare Camphor, had four career starts in Australia for Eagle Farm-based trainer Liam Birchley and was raced by a group which included some Rockhampton owners. Considering Wicked Ways was bought for $10,000 from the Oaklands Stud draft at the 2017 Capricornia Yearling Sale and earned $103,975 in prize money on the race track, his owners enjoyed a great ride. Following his victory in the 2018 Capricornia Yearling Sale 2YO Classic (1200m), Wicked Ways was sold to Hong Kong for $250,000, providing his connections with a further windfall. He was not the first Capricornia Yearling Sale graduate to be sold to Hong Kong and followed Cash Dash in 2016 ($500,000) and Looks Like The Cat in 2014 for an undisclosed figure believed to be in the vicinity of $500,000.
