Sugar Creek Charter School (SCCS) is an urban K-12, college and career preparatory school serving over 1600 students Cheryl Turner collectively. Initially opening in 1999 as a K-8 school, SCCS has off ered a highly-structured curriculum that sets high Director expectations, and provides individualized monitoring to assist students in attaining ambitious goals for achievement. Aft er much consideration, SCCS decided to expand the academic program to include high school curriculum. In August 2014, the SCCS High School was opened and one year later, acquired a new property at 7821 Old Concord Rd, Charlotte, Tawana Wiggins NC 28213, making SCCS one school with two locations. We are a “closed” high school meaning that we accept only High School Principal students who have attended SCCS in the 8th grade. Currently serving 9th through 12th grade, the fi rst graduating class celebrated its commencement in June 2018. We off er Honors and AP Level Courses as well as college level courses through College and Career Promise Program at Central Piedmont Community College. STUDENT EXTERNAL OPPORTUNITIES (SEOS) Sugar Creek Charter School believes that classroom discussions and planning are not enough to prepare students for college and life. Students need to be exposed to enriching opportunities outside of the classroom to aid in the development of a well thought out life plan. Th ere is no better way to know if something is for you than to experience it fi rst-hand. Over the course of their high school careers, students will participate in various opportunities for community service and outreach projects, job shadowing, and pre-college leadership programs. 270 completed hours are required for SCCS graduation.
