In the second game, the Terps tied the Hokies 1-1 after a first inning home run by Ubrun, followed by April 23 at Boston College* 12 p.m. April 26 at Towson [DH] 3 p.m. Smith’s grand slam to move ahead for good at 5-1. The win marked the second time the Terps beat a top 25 opponent May 3 at Delaware [DH] 2 p.m. this year. I lusted after the various sports games advertised in the magazines until my mom finally relented and bought Strat-O-Matic Football for me in 1972. I got SOM’s baseball game a year later and I was hooked. I would get the new card set each year and attempt to play the in-progress season by moving the traded players around and turning ‘nameless player cards” into that year’s key rookies. I switched to APBA in the late ‘70’s because they started releasing some complete old season sets and the idea of playing with those really caught my fancy. Between then and the mid-nineties, I collected a lot of card sets.
