This project consumed huge amount of time, effort, and dedication, and would not have been possible without the help and support of many individuals, committees, and organizers. I extend my sincere thanks to all of them. To my children, whose genuine concern was translated into a thousand questions. Each taking turns with the “hows” and “whys” of the event, but nonetheless believing in a father’s efforts that such feat is attainable through hardwork, patience, and determination. To the Local Government Unit of Bislig City, and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, with the joint coordination of the executive and legislative branches, their incomparable efforts in providing sustainable development to the City through the promotion of organic agriculture development, is second to none. I am also deeply indebted to IFOAM Asia, spearheaded by Dr. Zhou Zejiang and Ms. Jennifer Chang, for their collaborative efforts in the development, guidance, and constant supervision, from preparation to event culmination of the 3rd OAC, and for believing and trusting that the City can pull this through. An ocean of thanks to all the IFOAM Asia’s 3rd OAC committees, department heads, and all the employees of LGU-Bislig, who exceeded the expectations of delegates and guests by giving their best services and truly fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. To the Multi-Sectoral Governance Coalition (MSGC), devoted partner of the LGU in the Performance Governance System (PGS), through which with truthful assessment, the city was able to level up its implementation of organic farming, your contribution has been very inspiring. To the Bisliganons, who showed genuine hospitality to the visitors, and who gave their full cooperation and support to organic farming, their efforts made this success even more meaningful. Even my detractors contributed by constantly posing a challenge that consquently fed my desire to succeed. Acknowledgement also goes to all the people involved in the crafting of this book, especially to the authors and other hidden figures, who contributed their talent and expertise in completing the chapters. Kudos to the reviewers who took time to improve the quality, coherence, and content presentation of every page. Most improtantly, my sincerest gratitude to God Almighty, for His guidance and protection in making the event a huge success, and for the completion of this book. All victories are attained through His Divine Providence. A million thanks to all. Retrospect - 3rd Organic Asia Congress 2018 7 Bislig City Officials HON. LIBRADO C. NAVARRO Bislig City Mayor HON. Report No. 3 – Population, Land Area, and Population Density is among the series of publications that present the results of the POPCEN 2015. This publication provides information on the population size, land area, and population density by region, province, highly urbanized city, and city/municipality based on the data from population census conducted by the PSA in the years 2000, 2010, and 2015; and data on land area by city/municipality as of December 2013 that was provided by the Land Management Bureau (LMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Also presented in this report is the percent change in the population density over the three census years. The population density shows the relationship of the population to the size of land where the population resides.

Sharon's Noranian Turn: Stardom, Embodiment, and Language in Philippine Cinema Bliss Cua Lim Discourse, Volume 31, Number 3, Fall 2009, pp. 318-358 (Article) Published by Wayne State University Press For additional information about this article http://muse.jhu.edu/journals/dis/summary/v031/31.3.lim01.html Access Provided by University of California @ Irvine at 11/09/10 7:10PM GMT Sharon’s Noranian Turn: Stardom, Embodiment, and Language in Philippine Cinema Bliss Cua Lim Writing in 1965 under the pseudonym Quijano de Manila, National Artist Nick Joaquin vividly describes an era when the decline of the great Philippine film studios spawned an unbridled “star system still in apogee.” In the 1960s, star worship fuels the popular cinema and feeds “the avarice of the independent producer.” The middle- class lament that mainstream Filipino movies are hardly “quality” pictures, Joaquin writes impatiently, misses the point: “The movie fans crowd to a local movie not because they expect a sensible story or expert acting or even good entertainment”; instead, they go to the movies to see the stars they adore—action film kings Fernando Poe Jr. and Joseph Estrada, glamour goddesses Amalia Fuentes and Susan Roces. “Our movie idols remain idolized, whatever the quality of their vehicles, as long as they remain impossibly young, impossibly glamorous, impossibly beautiful”1 (figure 1). This is a form of star worship that, in its emphasis on an unrealizable world, ends by preventing audience identification. The spectatorial plea- sures offered by the star system of the early to mid-1960s, Joaquin argues, are not driven by identification but by wonder, idolatry practiced from afar.

  • The 16Th Congress
CongressWatch Report No. 176 Report No. 176 17 June 2013 The 16th Congress In the Senate The 16th Congress will open on 22 July, the same day that President Benigno Aquino III delivers his fourth State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA). The Senate will likely have a complete roster for the first time since the 12th Congress. It may be recalled that during the 2001 elections, 13 senators were elected, with the last placer serving the unfinished term of Sen. Teofisto Guingona who was then appointed as vice president. The chamber had a full roll of 24 senators for only a year, due to the appointment of Sen. Blas Ople as Foreign Affairs Secretary on 23 July 2002, and due to the passing of Sen. Renato Cayetano on 25 June 2003. The 11th, 13th, 14th, and 15th Congresses did not have full membership, primarily because a senator did not complete the six-year term due to being elected to another post.1 In the 2013 midterm elections last May, all of the six senators seeking re-election made it to the top 12, while two were members of the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress. The twelve senators-elect are: SENATOR PARTY PREVIOUS POSITION 1. ANGARA, Juan Edgardo M. LDP Representative (Aurora, lone) 2. AQUINO, Paolo Benigno IV A. It further decelerated in the succeeding months, registering 3.3 percent in February and 2.9 percent in March. This improvement was primarily due to the slow movement in the monthly increment in the price Source: PSA Caraga indices of heavily-weighted commodity groups, such as food and non-alcoholic beverages; Figure 2. It aimed to: describe her leadership orientation before she became a barangay captain, analyze the factors of her success stories in political leadership, extrapolate her values based on the problems/challenges met in the barangay, unveil her initiatives to address these problems, and interpolate her enduring vision for the future of the barangay. Through a biographical research design, with purposive sampling, a key female informant named as Lady L was chosen with the sole criteria of being a female Barangay Captain of Cebu City. Interview guides were utilized in the generation of Lady L’s biographic information about her political career.Lady L’s experiences in waiting for the perfect time and working in the private sector destined her to have a successful political career enhanced with passion and family influence. Encountering problems concerning basic education and unwanted migrants in Barangay K did not discourage her choice to run for re-election, because of her dedication to public service.
