He will resign at the AGM next February and we are seeking a replacement for this vital position. Most of the time the duties are relatively light, but at certain times, especially just after the year end, requirements are a little more demanding. Since 2007 Sheila Smith, our former Treasurer, has continued to look after publication sales – including all the sales records, bankings, stock control, credit control, etc., together with an annual account suitable for integration into the Area’s annual accounts, relieving the Treasurer of responsibility for a large proportion of the Area’s total transactions. This has effectively split the job into two, it is working extremely well and Sheila will continue as Publications Manager for the foreseeable future. Our Executive Committee meets at four monthly intervals, so with the AGM there are four meetings a year. These meetings provide a focus for the work of all our officers, but of course the work continues between times. If you have basic accounting skills and think you could help please phone Brian on his mobile – 07740 943394. We are looking for someone who is not already on the Executive Committee, it does include able and committed people – already committed to other aspects of the Area’s work – we need someone new! It is essential that we have a Treasurer. New name for the Norfolk Young Walkers Group I am pleased to report that the new group council for the Norfolk YWG has risen to the challenge of growing our group. We have looked at many areas that might be a hindrance to recruitment, and one of the things decided is that our name is a problem as some potential members assume we are a walking group for children. We have looked at the names of various other groups, and finally decided to follow Essex’s example, hence in future our group will be called “Hike Norfolk” 2 31 The Ramblers’ Norfolk Area Newsletter & Walks Programme August - November 2010 Tel: 0845 331 2782 Footpath Improvement – Blickling and Erpingham Mobile: 07802 270598 Email: [email protected] In our financial year to September 2009 we contributed £3000 towards the cost of Web: www.inter-logic.co.uk renewing boardwalk on the footpath running northwards from the road at Moorgate (GR 174299) in the north of Blickling parish, to the stream south of the Inter-Logic is experienced in providing a full spread of IT services and solutions to River Bure. I decided it would be a good idea to use this path for a walk to be small businesses in Norfolk and beyond. Some or our services include: published in the EDP Norfolk Magazine, but unfortunately while surveying the Network, Internet & Security Appliance Installation route it was found that although the new boardwalk was excellent as far as it went - Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware & Anti-Spam Services this wasn’t actually far enough. It did indeed cover the wettest section of the path, Server Supply, Installation and Configuration but the meadow between the stream and the Bure was barely passable in December and would inevitably get worse as the winter progressed. Emergency Troubleshooting & Repair Ongoing Contracts or One Off Visits, as required Our committee decided a donation of £5000 in Website Design, Programming & Hosting the current financial year to September 2010 Email Management & Hosting should be used to extend the boardwalk across Custom Application Development the meadow and for the smaller project of steps Broadband Consultancy & Installation on a footpath at Newton by Castle Acre (details Whatever your IT needs, call Inter-Logic for friendly and of this were reported in the last issue of Area professional advice, supply and services!
