There is still a great deal of controversy over this accident and my point is not to argue facts or try to determine a root cause for the accident but to use this article to demonstrate the principles we have been looking at in the series of articles. The aim of the research is to analyze and evaluate the Air France 447 Crash in the context of crew resource management practices. Crew resource management refers to the appropriate use of technical and non- technical skills and all available resources. In the research, the qualitative research case study method using the intensive description and analysis of a phenomenon or social unit was used. The case, Air France Flight 447, occurded in 2009 and accident report was completed in 2012. The accident report (BEA, 2012) and National Geographic - Air France Flight 447 Documentary HD were examined through document analysis. The data obtained from the documents were analyzed by content analysis method. The research examined with crew resource management skills, which is designated as the communication, situational awareness, team work, decision making, leadership, and personal limitations. As a result, the biggest share of the accident is seen as the “human factor”. Design, Development, and Initial Testing of a Computationally-Intensive, Long-Endurance Solar-Powered Unmanned Aircraft Or D. Dantsker,∗ Mirco Theile,† and Marco Caccamo‡ Renato Mancuso§ University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, Urbana, IL 61801 Boston University, Boston, MA 02215 In recent years, we have seen an uptrend in the popularity of UAVs driven by the desire to apply these aircraft to areas such as precision farming, infrastructure and environment monitoring, surveillance, surveying and mapping, search and rescue missions, weather forecasting, and more. The traditional approach for small size UAVs is to capture data on the aircraft, stream it to the ground through a high power data-link, process it remotely (potentially off-line), perform analysis, and then relay commands back to the aircraft as needed. All the mentioned application scenarios would benefit by carrying a high performance embedded computer system to minimize the need for data transmission. A major technical hurdle to overcome is that of drastically reducing the overall power consumption of these UAVs so that they can be powered by solar arrays. This paper describes the work done to date developing the 4.0 m (157 in) wingspan, UIUC Solar Flyer, which will be a long-endurance solar-powered unmanned aircraft capable of performing computationally-intensive on-board data processing. A mixture of aircraft requirements, trade studies, development work, and initial testing will be presented. Abstract The field of aeronautical engineering began to foresee its advancements in the future, the moment it evolved. Various new technologies and techniques were discovered and implemented almost in all branches of aviation industry. One branch where the researchers are continuously working for further more development is propulsion. Many new ideas are continuously being proposed. This paper deals with the use of renewable energy as the source of power for the aircraft. It gathers or creates the energy to move ON ITS OWN, it uses NO fuel. It is electric, having motors powered by electricity for propulsion. We are going to apply the same principle of electrical airplane and this can be operated as self powered electrical airplane. Here, starting power is provided to the engine and when engine gets maximum torque it starts generating current as per wind mill principle. As it produces electricity that will be used as the input for engine, so there is no need of any external electrical supply further. Efficiency of power produced can be increase to 100% by using electromagnetic generators. So the aircraft will be self driven and electrically powered. Unlike a turbine-based auxiliary power unit (APU) a solid oxide fuel cell power unit (SOFCPU) would be more efficient than using the main engine generators to generate electricity and would operate continuously during flight. The focus of this study is on more-electric aircraft which minimize bleed air extraction from the engines and instead use electrical power obtained from generators driven by the main engines to satisfy all major loads. The increased electrical generation increases the potential fuel savings obtainable through more efficient electrical generation using a SOFCPU. However, the weight added to the aircraft by the SOFCPU impacts the main engine fuel consumption which reduces the potential fuel savings. To investigate these relationships the Boeing 787-8 was used as a case study. The potential performance of the SOFCPU was determined by coupling flowsheet modeling using ChemCAD software with a stack performance algorithm. For a given stack operating condition (cell voltage, anode utilization, stack pressure, target cell exit temperature), ChemCAD software was used to determine the cathode air rate to provide stack thermal balance, the heat exchanger duties, the gross power output for a given fuel rate, the parasitic power for the anode recycle blower and net power obtained from (or required by) the compressor/expander. -

As a certified "American hero," his credibility with the public is impeccable. But several space veterans who SPACE.com consulted about one of Cooper's spaceflight stories had very different versions of the original events. And some of them showed me hard evidence to back up their skepticism. According to Cooper, in 1965 he carried a super-secret spy camera aboard Gemini-5 and accidentally got some shots of Area 51 in Nevada. Consequently, the camera and its film were confiscated by the Pentagon, never to be seen again. He was personally ordered by President Johnson not to divulge the film's contents. "One special mounted camera we carried had a huge telephoto lens," he wrote. "We were asked to shoot three specific targets from our spacecraft's window because the photo experts wanted to be able to measure the resolution of the pictures. "That's exactly what we did: Over Cuba, we took pictures of an airfield. Over the Pacific Ocean, we took pictures of ships at sea. Over a big U.S. city, we took pictures of cars in parking lots. Beyond that, we were encouraged to shoot away at other airfields, cities, and anything else we wanted along the way." In an exclusive interview with SPACE.com, NASA's former chief photo analyst, Richard Underwood, confirmed the existence of the experiment but remembered details about it in a very different way than Cooper did. -

Appendix A Apollo 15: “The Problem We Brought Back From the Moon” Postal Covers Carried on Apollo 151 Among the best known collectables from the Apollo Era are the covers flown onboard the Apollo 15 mission in 1971, mainly because of what the mission’s Lunar Module Pilot, Jim Irwin, called “the problem we brought back from the Moon.” [1] The crew of Apollo 15 carried out one of the most complete scientific explorations of the Moon and accomplished several firsts, including the first lunar roving vehicle that was operated on the Moon to extend the range of exploration. Some 81 kilograms (180 pounds) of lunar surface samples were returned for anal- ysis, and a battery of very productive lunar surface and orbital experiments were conducted, including the first EVA in deep space. [2] Yet the Apollo 15 crew are best remembered for carrying envelopes to the Moon, and the mission is remem- bered for the “great postal caper.” [3] As noted in Chapter 7, Apollo 15 was not the first mission to carry covers. Dozens were carried on each flight from Apollo 11 onwards (see Table 1 for the complete list) and, as Apollo 15 Commander Dave Scott recalled in his book, the whole business had probably been building since Mercury, through Gemini and into Apollo.
