Dolphin Tech Notes: Recommend Camera settings— D1

These instructions are intended to supplement the Nikon DIGITAL DAMERA D1 User’s Manual (part number 6ME49510). Please refer to the manual for more details on each function.

Settings for Sunpak Auto DX 8R ring and Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm lens (a 62mm-52mm ring step down ring adapter is necessary from the ring flash to the lens).

Presets (leave the camera ALWAYS in these settings) . Image Quality (page 28): FINE (recommended, approx 1.3MB per picture), NORM or BASIC. (HI or high image quality, no compression in TIFF RGB/TIFF YcbCr or RAW data is necessary) . Sensitivity (ISO Equivalency) (page 30): 400 . White Balance (page 31): Sun (for a warmer tone), or Flash (for a ‘cooler’ or more purple tone) . (page 33): Single servo AF . AF Area Mode (page 34): Single area AF . Mode: M (Manual) (page 47) . compensation (page 51): 0.0 (or, if necessary, adjust to the proper brightness--less the number, brighter the picture) We recommend that you use the same Exposure Compensation number between the facials and intraoral shots to minimize changes. . Capture Preview Mode (page 56): we recommend using the capture-preview mode to view photographs in the LCD monitor before they are saved to the memory card. With the CSM button held down, rotate the sub-command dial to set the menu option to “1” (“capture-preview mode enabled”). To record the photograph: press the CSM button. To delete the photograph (before it is recorded to the memory card): half-press the -release button, or press the “trash can” or “AF-ON” button. .
