Abstract The Omicron Delta Kappa collection documents the history of the organization at Albion College. Omicron Delta Kappa or ### was chartered at Albion College in 1942 and is still active today. The collection includes but is not limited to correspondence, history, meeting minutes, reports, manuals, newsletters, petitions for circles, and National Convention information. The collection is arranged alphabetically. Records date from 1941-1974.

Biographical/Historical note
Omicron Delta Kappa (###) was founded at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia 1914 December 3. It was founded by a group of 15 male students and faculty who believed that leadership on the collegiate level should be encouraged and recognized in all places across campus. The founders desired to bring together leaders from all parts of the college to benefit the greater good of the institution. ### recognizes archivements in several areas: scholarship; athletics; campus and community service, social or religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech and the mass media; and creative and performing arts. Membership to ### is considered to be one of the highest collegiagte honors awarded. To be selected, one must stand among the top thirty-five percent of all students at that particular institution and hold a leadership role in one of the society's five areas of recognition. Circles of ###, or chapters, have been founded at other instituions across the country. As of 2019 April, 420 circles have been chartered. After ### had existed for 60 years, women were allowed to become members. The Beta Gamma Circle of ### was founded at Albion College on 1942 February 15 and is still active today. The Circle was formed from the Ti-Me Society, which was a local honorary men's fraternity that similar values as ###. The memeber's of the Ti-Me Society started petitioning for their own circle of ### in 1941.
Scope and Contents note
The Omicron Delta Kappa collection contains two series: 1. Administration and History. This series includes correspondence, constitution and bylaws, finances, ritual booklets, membership manuals, history, Gold Key Circle, and General Council materials. There are two subseries including: Correspondence and History. 2. Membership and Outreach. This series includes membership cards, membership certificates, petitions for charters/ciricles, potential new member listings, membership qualifications and review, membership questionnaire, newsletters, graduate fellowship and scholarship information, ephemera, and National Convention materials. There are two subseries including: Membership and Petitions for Circles. The collection is arranged alphabetically. Records date from 1941 to 1974.
