The cottage is ideally located for easy access to major transport networks. Nearby Micheldever Station (separate from the village of Micheldever) offers excellent commuter access to London Waterloo, with a journey time of approximately 55 minutes. There are also mainline stations at Winchester, Basingstoke and Overton (6.5 miles). There are good road links and Dove Cottage is within easy reach of the M3, A34 and A303 giving access to the national motorway network. Southampton International Airport is location about 19 miles away, whereas London Heathrow is approximately 48.5 miles away.

Sporting facilities in the area include golf at Test Valley Golf Club, Alresford, Basingstoke and Winchester. There are several bridleways and public footpaths in the immediate area that provide excellent walking and hacking country, in particular “Coffin Walk” that runs between Micheldever and .
