TAAF Family -

What an incredibly unexpected experience this past year has been. Each of us has dealt with interruption to our personal and professional lives that no one could have anticipated. While no one knows for certain when the global pandemic will be over with, or even what that looks like, I am optimistic that when it does end we will be positioned to quickly get back to the business of our organization and the service that we provide to our participants. Now is the time to ensure that we are ready to make a running start when the time is right, and this will take the collective of the TAAF family to be a success. Together we are stronger!

No matter what your role with TAAF has been in the past, I challenge each of you to recommit to not just getting back to the outstanding work you have been doing but to take things up a notch. We need the TAAF family pulling together like never before. We always find a way to make things happen, and I have no doubt that we are up to the challenges ahead.

I look forward to the next year with a lot of optimism for what can and will be accomplished. As we restart (hopefully soon), we will do so with excellence, making strategic decisions to guide us forward in a smart and safe manner. As always, I welcome your input and counsel to help make this goal a reality.

Lastly, I would like to thank the staff of the state office, the members of the executive committee and executive board, and all the members who have taken on the challenges of the past year. Through our service to TAAF we are all challenged to do more when sometimes doing more means giving up time from our families and refocusing our personal commitments. TAAF does not exist without you and the work that each of you dedicates to the organization. We need you now more than ever!

2020 TAAF Annual Meeting Affiliate Roll Call T.A.A.F. Voting Formula

During the 2020 T.A.A.F. annual meeting the members as listed on sheets for 2018-2019 Teams & Individuals Registered have votes allocated to them according to the T.A.A.F. Constitution Article 4.2 as shown below: August 21, 2020 the T.A.A.F. Executive Board voted to suspend the rules for voting and for the 2020 annual (virtual) meeting to use numbers from 2019 annual meeting.

4.2 For all other business requiring a vote, all members present and in good standing will have the number of votes allocated to them as provided by the following formula:

.01 The total number of all combined teams registered by a member.

.02 a) The total number of all combined individual sports participants and SPORT Certified Coaches registered for each member will be divided by three and one half (3 ½) to determine an equivalent “team number” which will be added to that member’s total team registration for calculation of that member’s vote.

b) The total number of all combined SMART Certified Parents and Certified T.A.A.F. Officials registered for each member will be divided by ten (10) to determine an equivalent “team number” which will be added to that member’s total team registration for calculation of that member’s vote.

.03 The calculation of the total number of teams (.01) plus the individual participants AND Sport Certified Coaches (.02 A) plus the Smart Certified Parents and Certified TAAF Officials (.02 B) equivalent "team number" registered in the state in a calendar year will be divided by the number of members.

a) This number will be rounded to the nearest whole number.

b) That figure will serve as the benchmark for the number of votes each member shall receive.

Example: 15,000 teams registered, 125 members, the average number is 120: Therefore: 001 - 120 1 vote 121 - 240 2 votes 241 - 360 3 votes etc.

c) There will be no limit as to the number of votes a member may receive based on team registration.

.04 The number of votes will be tabulated by the Executive Director and will be determined by the total number of teams registered by the respective members as of September 1 prior to the annual meeting.

It is required that teams use the following footballs: a) 6 & Under ‐ Wilson Official K‐2 ball (or its equal). b) 8 & under – Wilson Official K‐2 ball (or its equal). c) 10 & Under and 12 & Under ‐ K‐TDJ (or its equal). d) 14 & Under – Rawlings R5Y (or its equal). .02 COACHES: All divisions of youth teams may have one (1) coach on the field both offensively and defensively. If a coach interferes with game play (considered sideline interference): a) Offensive Coach Interference: A penalty of 10 yards from the line of scrimmage (L.O.S.) and loss of down. b) Defensive Coach Interference: A penalty of 10 yards from the line of scrimmage (L.O.S.) and first down will be awarded the offensive team.

Reason: Many cities are running a 6u division, I feel it's time to add this age group to the cavalcade. We can follow the rules that are listed in the cavalcade for the 8u division.

If a coach has USA Gymnastics background check then they will have to additionally get screened every other year as he USAG check is every two years but T.A.A.F. will require screening every year. Note: Insurance (participant accident coverage only) may be purchased for an additional fee per person per sport (Contact the T.A.A.F. State Office for fees).
