23rd SET Youth Musician Competition History: The SET Youth Musician Competition was created in 1997 by the College of Music, Mahidol University and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (2004). The Stock Exchange of Thailand believes that the competition benefits young musicians in Thailand by encouraging them to explore their inner musical creativity and artistry. Contestants can perform in any musical style, using any kind of non-electronic musical instrument or voice. It is regarded as the most open contest in the country, and the judge focus on pure musical expression as basis for the competition results. Music Instruments: only acoustic instruments, strictly no electronic instruments Thai Instruments: Alto xylophone, Dulcimer, Khong Wong Lek, Pong Lang, Chakhe, Voice, etc. Western Instruments: Flute, Acoustic Guitar, Drum, Trumpet, Cello, Violin, Viola, Voice, etc. Other Instruments: Guzheng, Traditional Instruments, etc. Rules & Regulations: 1. Competitors must be studying in Thailand at one of the following levels: Elementary school Secondary school High school Undergraduate (maximum age 24 years at time of application) 2. Online application must include the following items: 2.1 Copy of Thai ID Card or passport of the applicant (.jpg or .png). 2.2 Copy of student ID card or student confirmation letter from the school. 2.3 One video file of the competitor’s performance uploaded to www.youtube.com. Provide the link on the online application form. - The length of video must be 3-8 minutes. No talking allowed. - The video should be made specifically for this competition, After the application is submitted the competitor will not be able to change the video. If the competitor wishes to change the video he/she must reapply and resubmit the fee payment. - The competitor can use a maximum of four musicians as an ensemble accompaniment - The video should not include tuning - The video must be unedited - The competitor may only perform on one instrument per video. - If the competitor wishes to compete on multiple instruments each instrument must be performed in a separate video - Competitors selected for the semi-final and final rounds must perform from memory. It is acceptable to perform with music in the video round. - The piece competitors perform on the video round must be performed again on the Semi-Final Round. Competitors who pass to the final round must select a new piece to perform. 3. Application fee: Elementary school: 200 Baht/instrument/song Secondary school: 300 Baht/instrument/song High school: 400 Baht/Instrument/song Undergraduate: 500 Baht/instrument/song 4. Recordings and broadcasts of the performances belong to the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the College of Music, Mahidol University. All performances of the Semi-Final and Final Round will be recorded. 5. All decisions of the judges are final. Judge’s decisions cannot be appealed. Announcement Date: Thursday, November 05, 2020 Semi-Final Round: 1. Elementary School: Saturday, November 28, 2020 From 08.30 – 13.00 hrs. 2. Secondary School: Saturday, November 28, 2020 From 13.30 – 19.00 hrs. 3. High School: Sunday, November 29, 2020 From 08.30 – 13.00 hrs. 4. Undergraduate: Sunday, November 29, 2020 From 13.30 – 19.00 hrs. Venue: College of Music, Mahidol University *25 Finalists from each category will be received 5,000 Thai Baht for their travel expenses. Final Round: Sunday, January 10, 2023 from 08.30 – 17.00 hrs. Venue: College of Music, Mahidol University *10 Finalists’ coach will receive a reward of 5,000 Baht (only1 coach per finalist) **All the winner of 4 Levels need to sign the corporate contract to join the activity with SET or, and The College of Music for 1 Event per each Winner The announcement will be made at the end of the competition.
