In less than two years, the University has acquired a reputation for diversity in teaching, research, academic staff and students. NLUO prides itself on being a law university, which promotes legal education from cross disciplinary perspective, thus serving the cause of integrated knowledge. In my opinion, the defining attribute of this law university is its compelling vision of legal education. It thus ensures that NLUO graduates are equipped with dynamic intellectual energy to offer outstanding contributions to society throughout their professional careers. With an active Chancellor in the Chief Justice of Orissa, dedicated Vice-Chancellor, unmatched faculty, motivated students, innovative course curricula and pedagogic method, NLUO surely has a very bright future ahead of it. The State Government has extended financial grants for putting up the infrastructure of the University and the class-rooms, administrative block and the hostels in the new campus in CDA are under construction.     1 Revue de presse février 2020 The only two Indian carriers that fly to China -- IndiGo and Air India-- on Wednesday announced suspension of most of their flights to that country, while India has requested China for permission to operate two flights to bring back its nationals from Hubei province which has been sealed after the deadly coronavirus outbreak. A fresh travel advisory asking people to refrain from travelling to China has been issued by the Union government which has ramped up screening across airports, ports and borders, as the virus spread to at least 17 countries. No case of the novel coronavirus has been detected in India, though hundreds of people remain under observation in many states including as many as 806 in Kerala, according to officials. With several airlines based in Asia, North America and Europe restricting operations to the region, the Indian carriers too followed suit. The country's largest airline IndiGo said it has suspended its flights on Bengaluru-Hong Kong route from February 1 and on the Delhi-Chengdu route from February 1 to 20. Similarly, state-run Air India is suspending its flights on Delhi-Shanghai route from January 31 to February 14 and reducing the frequency on Delhi-Hong Kong route to thrice-weekly only in the same time period. IndiGo will, for now, continue to operate the Kolkata-Guangzhou flight which it is "monitoring on a daily basis". The crew of the two airlines working on flights connecting India with South East Asian countries have been asked to wear N95 masks on ground and take other precautions like not visiting public places.

Born on June 11, 1947, in Delhi, Dr. S.Y. Quraishi joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1971 and after holding several strategic and key positions, rose to become the 17th Chief Election Commissioner of India, the world’s largest democracy. He was appointed as the CEC as the successor to Navin Chawla on 30 July 2010. An alumnus of St. Stephen's College, Delhi University (M.A. History, 1969), Dr. Quraishi received a Ph.D in Communications and Social Marketing from the Dept. of Social Work, Jamia Milia Islamia University in Delhi, 1992. He figured in The Indian Express's list of 50 Most Powerful Indians of 2011 and 2012 and India Today's High and Mighty Power List in 2012.     General Elections in India and the Role of the Election Commission Dr. M.N. Buch With 543 seats in the House of the People (Lok Sabha) and an electorate in excess of 800 million people the average number of voters per constituency is almost one and a half million. By comparison the number of voters in a British Parliamentary Constituency ranges from fifty thousand to seventy thousand, which is about less than half the number of voters in a State Legislature constituency. Apart from constituencies in the metropolitan areas where the population is highly concentrated, the average size of a constituency in India ranges between six thousand square kilometres and ten thousand square kilometres. In terms of the number of voters and the sheer physical size of the constituency, conducting an election is an extremely complex matter in India, which is the world’s largest democracy. It is complex because of the scale of arrangements to be made in conducting the election and it is complex in terms of the sheer numbers of voters and the size of the constituency which each candidate has to cover. One of the reasons why elections are so expensive in India is that to travel around the whole constituency and to interact with so many voters each candidate requires a number of vehicles and assistants and associates who will help him cover the entire constituency. One calculation indicates that a minimum of ten to twelve vehicles is needed to tour the constituency constantly for about a month and the candidate would probably have to visit over a thousand villages just to familiarise people with his face.
