New Mexico Geologic Society 54th Fall Field Conference

Next year’s fall field conference (2003) will be held in west- and authorship, (2) estimated number of double-spaced central New Mexico and on the Navajo Nation. The society manuscript pages, and (3) estimated number of figures to the last visited the eastern part of this area in 1989 and the west- guidebook co-editor listed below on or before November 1, ern part in 1951 and 1967. The trip will focus on the classic 2002, by e-mail (preferred), phone, FAX, or letter. We ask that Mesozoic strata and late Cenozoic volcanism of this area as authors observe the current 25 page (double-spaced) manu- well as on the uranium ore deposits. The conference is host- script limit (about seven printed pages with figures). Papers ed by William Berglof (University of Maryland), Spencer longer than 10 printed pages will be considered on a case-by- Lucas, Larry Crumpler, and Andrew Heckert (New Mexico case basis and will require page charges. Minipapers will be Museum of Natural History and Science), and Steven limited to 1,500 words and one figure. Authors are required Semken (Dine College). Topics covered during the trip will to secure two external reviews for each paper. Final manu- encompass virtually every aspect of geology. Accordingly, scripts, complete with clean figures (eps files with tiff pre- potential authors are encouraged to submit papers on the view format preferred) and reviews, will be due on February whole spectrum of geological sciences.
