I truly feel emboldened to be my best self thanks to the forward-thinking, supportive school culture that exists here at MOHS. MOHS has molded me to become a lifelong learner and provided abundant opportunities for growth. I'm grateful to say these treasured experiences have equipped me well for my future. I've watched my students blossom into well-rounded adults and along the way have formed lifelong relationships with colleagues, parents, students, and stakeholders. I'm privileged to work with a dedicated staff that arrives early and leaves late, ensuring that each student receives a quality education. It's the best decision we've made for our children. At all levels, their teachers have challenged them and encouraged them, laying a foundation of learning that will benefit them the rest of their lives. Without the support from the school and staff members, my aspirations in student government would never have been fulfilled. I feel lucky to be in a district that emphasizes collaboration and to work with so many impressive and enthusiastic educators. Setting aside time for collaboration allows us to continually examine and refine our practices in order to provide the very best to our students. In turn, students are excited to learn, create, and grow. The MOHS curriculum and the high expectations of teachers set me up for success and my upcoming transition to a technology consulting job. Departments | Mount Olive NJ According to biographer Ian MacNiven, Lawrence Durrell regarded Mountolive as the clou , the nail holding together the entire structure of the Quartet. And Durrell gave to David Mountolive, his English ambassador, details from his own life: "Mountolive had been born in India, had left it at age eleven, had had an affair with a Yugoslav dancer. Mountolive had not seen his father again after leaving India, and this Larry joined to his own myth of abandonment, a myth he came absolutely to believe, that he had not seen his father after coming to England. The novel's tensions begin with young David Mountolive on the Hosnani estate, where he has begun an affair with Leila Hosnani, mother of Nessim and Narouz. This leads to a recollection of Mountolive's maturation and career as a diplomat, a career which in time returns him to Egypt, leading up to the present day of the novel series, at which point Mountolive recontextualizes the materials that appeared previously in Justine and Balthazar. Mountolive retains Pursewarden as his chief political adviser. Mountolive then introduces a Coptic gunrunning plot in support of Zionism. This plot development has been criticised as unrealistic, [2] but more recently scholars have demonstrated the intensely political and well-informed background for Durrell's notions. The novel ends with the Copt wake for Narouz. The Pasha has disingenuously pretended to believe he is the Hosnani in the incriminating papers so he can continue to receive bribes from Nessim. Mountolive, meanwhile prepares to turn his back on Egypt, totally disillusioned. Durrell had sent out proofs and carbons of Mountolive to a few people whose opinions he valued. If it weren't for the supportive art teachers and resources available to me, I would never have been encouraged or had the confidence to follow my dream as an artist. As a professional multimedia designer and producer, I can say there are lessons and skills that I gained at MOHS that did not just put me ahead in my college years, but have stayed with me throughout my career. If I could go back and do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing. As a parent, I could not be prouder of the excellent education my two boys Class of and Class of have received. MOHS has done just that. I get to work closely every day with dedicated teachers who have incredible ideas that they are eager to share. Ynet News. Mount Seir, Sinai and Western Palestine. At Mount Olive, young adults are encouraged to be in community, as they develop spiritual habits that equip them to be devoted disciples of Jesus Christ. By the end of , and throughout the Jordanian rule of the site, some Arab residents uprooted tombstones and plowed the land in the cemeteries, and an estimated 38, tombstones were damaged in total. During this period, a road was paved through the cemetery, in the process destroying graves including those of famous persons. Graves were also demolished for parking lots and a filling station [14] and were used in latrines at a Jordanian Army barracks. Following the Six-Day War restoration work was done and the cemetery was reopened for burials. On 6 November , an international watch-committee was set up by Diaspora Jews with the aim of reversing the desecration of the Jewish cemetery. According to one of the founders, the initiative was triggered by witnessing tombstones that were wrecked with "the kind of maliciousness that defies the imagination. The biblical designation Mount of Corruption, or in Hebrew Har HaMashchit I Kings —8 , derives from the idol worship there, begun by King Solomon building altars to the gods of his Moabite and Ammonite wives on the southern peak, "on the mountain which is before east of Jerusalem" 1 Kings , just outside the limits of the holy city. This site was known for idol worship throughout the First Temple period, until king of Judah, Josiah , finally destroyed "the high places that were before Jerusalem, to the right of Har HaMashchit An apocalyptic prophecy in the Book of Zechariah states that YHWH will stand on the Mount of Olives and the mountain will split in two, with one half shifting north and one half shifting south Zechariah According to the Masoretic Text , people will flee through this newly formed valley to a place called Azal Zechariah The Septuagint LXX has a different reading of Zechariah stating that a valley will be blocked up as it was blocked up during the earthquake during King Uzziah 's reign. Jewish historian Flavius Josephus mentions in Antiquities of the Jews that the valley in the area of the King's Gardens was blocked up by landslide rubble during Uzziah's earthquake. Many Jews have wanted to be buried on the Mount of Olives since antiquity, based on the Jewish tradition from the Biblical verse Zechariah that when the Messiah comes, the resurrection of the dead will begin there. Notable rabbis buried on the mount include Chaim ibn Attar and others from the 15th century to the present day.

A Proposed Chronology of Armageddon And Christ’s Second Coming Pastor Kelly Sensenig On September 2, 1945, aboard the battleship USS Missouri, the Japanese government formally surrendered to the Allied forces, thus ending WWII. After the instrument of surrender had been signed by all the representatives, General Douglas Macarthur, the supreme commander of the allied force in the Pacific, made a powerful announcement: “Men since the beginning of time have sought peace. We have had our last chance. Military alliances, balances of power, leagues of nations, all in turn failed, leaving the only path to be by the crucible of war. The utter destructiveness of war now blots out this alternative. If we do not devise some greater and more equitable system, Armageddon will be at our door.” MacArthur’s words are truer today than ever before. The world is not getting safer or more peaceful. The 20th century ended with a third of the world’s 193 nations embroiled in conflict. The Bible has something to say about a final battle that will occur in the land of Palestine. In this study we want to propose a chronology of events that will transpire in connection with the place called Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ. In the final battle, or series of battles which occur within the land of Palestine, there will be a large representation of troops from all nations of planet earth (Zech 14:2; Rev. 19:15; Joel 3:9-13). Millions upon millions of troops representing the leaders and nations “of the whole world” (Rev.

In Selah. In the place prepared by God. Could it be that the statement: Introduction "On this rock (Petra) I will build My church" (Matthew 16 : 18) may yet get another, prophetic, significance? Years ago I discovered the location of the "place in the wilderness" where the believing remnant will be gathered in order to hide from the "great tribulation". The ancient Edomite and Nabataean capital city Petra was only known by a few. In the past it was highly dangerous and nearly impossible to visit this mysterious city. But since the borders of Jordan have opened up to tourism, this area can nowadays be visited quite easily. What we could not achieve ten years ago, became reality: we were allowed access to the place "prepared by God" where in the near future the earthly foundation will be laid for the coming Kingdom of Christ.

  • Historical Earthquakes in Jerusalem – a Methodological Discussion
Journal of Seismology (2005) 9: 329–340 C Springer 2005 Historical earthquakes in Jerusalem–Amethodological discussion N. Ambraseys Department of Environmental Engineering, Imperial College, London SW7 2BU, UK, E-mail: [email protected] Received 14 March 2005; accepted in revised form 26 May 2005 Key words: earthquakes, historical seismicity, Jerusalem Abstract This article is of an inter-disciplinary nature, relevant to the fields of both earth sciences and historiography, which come together in the investigation of long-term earthquake hazard. The paper emphasises the need for systematic and consistent analysis of historical earthquake data and sets out an example for such a task. The results from the historical study of earthquakes will be of value to earth scientists and engineers only when historical information is converted into “numbers” representing epicentral location and magnitude of the events, accompanied by an estimate of the reliability of their assessment. However, as we go further back in time before our era, the historical record gradually disappears and the archaeological record takes over. Unfortunately, the archaeological record is too coarse and ambiguous, without any precise internal archaeological indicators. Dating is based on, or influenced by the very few historical records, such as in the Bible and inscriptions, which provide an example of how their assumed accuracy may influence archaeologists’ interpretation and dating. Quite often this develops into a circular process in which archaeological assumptions or theories are transformed into facts and used by earth scientists to confirm the dates and size of their proposed events. In this article we discuss the problems that arise when Biblical and archaeological information is used at face value to assess earthquakes in the Holy Land.

  • The Jerusalem Researches
80 THE JERUSALEM RESEARCHES. LETTERS FROM M. OLERMONT-GANNEAU. III. JERUSALEM, October 5-10, 1873. Excursion to Jerirho. THE day before yesterday we returned from Jericho, having taken advantage of Lieutenant Conder's presence there to visit the place, in the hope of verifying certain points. We passed five days in the Suney Camp, meeting with the most friendly reception from the officers in charge, and came back here on the third. The two points which were the motives of this journey were tl) the examination of the site of the Hajar el Asbah, which I had for a long time,* for various reasons, proposed to identify with the Stone of Bohan ;t and (2) the project to excavate a cemetery near Goumran pointed out as curious by MM. Rey and De Saulcy. In view of the latter I had brought with me two peasants of Silwan, formerly work men under Captain Warren, and taken certain tools, such as picks, shovels, and crowbars from•the Society's storehouse. The Jericho people are of no use for this kind of work, as they even employ the fellahin of the mountains to cultivate their own lands. Our journey was accomplished without incident, except that arriving after nightfall, and badly guided by our two peasants, we wandered about for two hours in the darkness and the thorn thickets before discovering the camp, masked as it was by the Tell el A 'in, at the foot of which it was placed. H11jar el We started the next day, accompanied by Messrs. Conder and Drake, ~~~o~~f for Hajar el Asbah :t: and the Khirbet Goumran.
