12-11-5-0, 29 Pts, 6Th Atlantic Division 12-11-5-0, 29 pts, 6th Atlantic Division NEED TO KNOW TODAY ● McIntyre passed John Grahame’s franchise record with his 68th win in net on December 15 against Hershey. He is two shutouts away from tying Tim Thomas and Hannu Toivonen’s Providence record of 11 shutouts wearing the “Spoked P.” ● Fyten was suspended for tonight’s game as a consequence of a slashing incident in a game vs. Bridgeport on Dec. 14. He was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). ● Kyle Cumiskey, who was on a PTO, signed an AHL deal with Providence December 14. ● Providence’s season high eight-game point streak ended December 7 in Rochester. ● Connor Clifton was returned to Providence December 6 after making his NHL debut with Boston. He played nine scoreless games with Boston. Tanner Pond was also recalled from the ECHL where he spent three games with Atlanta. ● The P-Bruins released Desmond Bergin and David Broll from their PTOs last week. Martin Bakos was also waived by Boston to pursue other opportunities. ● Anders Bjork was assigned to Providence November 29 after starting the season with 20 NHL games in Boston (one goal, three points). He played 30 NHL games and nine AHL games last year. ● Ryan Donato was recalled to Boston November 28 after spending all of the month in the AHL. Donato, who was originally assigned to Providence November 1, scored five goals and posted nine points in 10 games with the P-Bruins. ● Szwarz was named captain October 19 after the club suited up three alternates for the first five games of the year. He was previously an AHL captain with Portland in 2014-15. If he has a 20-goal season, he’ll be the fifth player with three 20+ goal seasons in a P-Bruins uniform (Cameron Mann, Sergejs Zoltoks, Andy Hilbert and Craig Cunningham). Other notables include P-Bruins alumni DeBrusk (1) & Carlo (2) who are in Boston. Hats off to you Hughes has the lone P-Bruins hat-trick this season, posting three goals in a span of 9:02 against Bridgeport. It was his first career hat-trick. Blidh recorded a “Gordie Howe Hat-Trick” October 13 against Hartford, posting a goal, assist and fight. Milestone Watch McIntyre is two shutouts away from tying Tim Thomas and Hannu Toivonen’s team record of 11 shutouts wearing the “Spoked P”. He passed John Grahame’s franchise record with his 68th win in net on December 15 against Hershey. If Szwarz has a 20-goal season, he’ll be the fifth player with three 20+ goal seasons in a P-Bruins uniform (Mann, Zoltoks, Hilbert and Cunningham). Shipping Up to Boston Eight players have skated in games for both Providence and Boston this season: Anders Bjork, Urho Vaakanainen, Jeremy Lauzon, Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, Jakub Zboril, Colby Cave, Connor Clifton and Ryan Donato. • P-Bruins Stomp Wolf Pack to Lower Magic Number to Two
Providence Bruins Nathan Roberts [email protected], 401.680.4734 Eddie Pannone [email protected] P-BRUINS STOMP WOLF PACK TO LOWER MAGIC NUMBER TO TWO Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack Friday night 6-3, lowering their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to two. The P-Bruins got two goals from Ryan Fitzgerald along with goals from Anton Blidh, Jordan Szwarz, Trent Frederic and Austin Czarnik while Zane McIntyre made his 42nd start of the season in net. Providence dominated the zone time in the opening period and it showed on the scoreboard. After being held scoreless despite an 8-1 shots edge through six minutes, Blidh gave the P-Bruins a 1-0 lead at 7:59. Taking a pass from Cameron Hughes, Blidh started a 2-on-1 break with Jack Studnicka up the right side. Rather than pass, Blidh surprised Hartford goalie Alexander Georgiev with a wrister from inside the right circle for his 11th goal of the season. Just 1:11 later, Szwarz doubled that lead with his 21st goal of the season. At the bottom of the left circle, he blasted a one-timer in off a pass from Fitzgerald to give Providence a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. That domination continued into period number two with Providence tacking on a trio of goals. Fitzgerald found the back of the net on the power play at 2:58, tapping a beautiful feed from Czarnik in from the crease to make things 3-0 Providence. He struck again at 8:37, taking advantage of a poor Hartford clearing attempt.

BOSTON BRUINS MEDIA DAY PRESS CONFERENCE OWNER JEREMY JACOBS, CEO CHARLIE JACOBS, PRESIDENT CAM NEELY, GENERAL MANAGER DON SWEENEY, HEAD COACH BRUCE CASSIDY Monday, October 3, 2017 BOSTON BRUINS MEDIA DAY PRESS CONFERENCE On expectations for the season… JJ (Jeremy Jacobs): How many times you guys have asked that. How many times have I been right? I think they are a very exciting team, a very young team. I think we have a real – we’ll see change since the end of last year, versus when Butchy [Bruce Cassidy] took over. I think it’s going to be a continuation and maybe an improvement on that. That’s what I’m looking forward to. Again, how many times have I been asked that? How many times have I been right? It’s another answer. Hope springs eternal as far as this guy is concerned. On Zdeno Chara… JJ: Zee [Zdeno Chara] has been a real killer here. His physicality and his endurance, the time he spends on the ice. He’s been a tremendous investment, but his personality and his character goes a long way to establish what this team is. I think he’s done a great job with it. And his captaincy is very much earned. BC (Bruce Cassidy): As far as a mentor on the ice, Brandon Carlo could best answer that. But clearly he has been paired with him and both Charlie McAvoy, two young guys. Because he accepts that role, he relishes it. He wants to work with younger guys, while still taking care of business on the ice.
