Guida Al Torrita Blues Festival 2015 Guida al Torrita Blues Festival 2019 www.torritablues.it – [email protected] Guida al Torrita Blues Festival 2019 Torrita Blues Festival è uno dei più importanti Blues Festival europei che si svolge da 30 anni a Torrita di Siena, in un bellissimo paesaggio nel cuore della Toscana. Tra le meravigliose colline vicino Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino e Cortona c’è un piccolo castello medievale chiamato Torrita di Siena, dove ogni anno durante l’ultimo week-end di giugno si svolge il Torrita Blues Festival. Il festival è nato nel 1989 grazie ad un gruppo di amici amanti del blues. Quest’anno il Torrita Blues festeggia 30 anni di attività collocandolo come uno dei più importanti e longevi festival blues in Italia, in Europa e nel Mondo. Sono tantissimi gli artisti blues internazionali e italiani passati dal Torrita Blues; ne citiamo alcuni dei più significativi: Taj Mahal, John Mayall, Robben Ford, Doyle Bramhall II, Roy Rogers, Bettye Lavette, Popa Chubby, Canned Heat, Luther Allison, Charlie Musselwhite, Phil Guy, The Animals, James Cotton, Tom Principato, Peter Green, Magic Slim, Mike Zito, Joe Louis Walker, Jerry Portnoy, Lucky Peterson, Shemekia Copeland, Billy Branch, Kenny Neal, Rick Estrin, Sugar Blue, R.L Burnside, Frank Frost, Honeyboy Edwards, Fabio Treves, Tolo Marton, Rudy Rotta, Nick Becattini. (L’elenco completo è consultabile all’interno di questa guida) Programma del Torrita Blues 2019: Giovedì 20 giugno Cena Blues Il 30° anno del Torrita Blues inizia ufficialmente giovedì 20 giugno con la tradizionale e immancabile “cena blues in piazza” e le sue famose “penne blues” che quest’anno torneranno nuovamente nel menù. I concerti Blues del Giovedì A far cornice della cena come sempre ci sarà l’ottima musica blues delle band italiane, che mai come quest’anno assume particolare importanza in quanto ci sarà un connubio proprio con il nome di Torrita di Siena. Infatti, oltre ai concerti delle grandi band di Effetto Blues 2019, aprirà il festival la Paletti Blues Band, band toscana che propone un blues rivisitato in chiave soul a seguire il funky/blues della Bad Blues Quartet affermata e collaudata band cagliaritana, per festeggiare i 30 anni di Torrita Blues è nato un progetto musicale tutto torritese, L’Altra Faccia Blues Band, formato da alcuni amici e musicisti di Torrita che porterà sul palco un set dedicato al Chicago Blues con una sorpresa finale che vi invitiamo a scoprire venendo al festival. Cena blues costo € 20,00 – inizio alle 20.30 - ingresso libero per i concerti (inizio concerti ore 21.30) Venerdì 21 giugno La serata inizia con una power band esplosiva, i torinesi Boogie Bomber provenienti da Effetto Blues 2019 che scalderanno i motori in attesa del grande artista internazionale della serata Robert Randolph. A seguire avremo la Fabio Marza Band grande band italiana sulla scena del blues da anni con il suo rock blues dal sapore intenso. A chiudere la serata ci sarà in esclusiva europea, (in collaborazione con Bellinzona Blues) il Re della Pedal Steel Guitar, ROBERT RANDOLPH & The Family Band, artista americano conclamato da moltissimi fans in esclusiva italiana. Eric Clapton lo chiama spesso nei suoi set, sarà in cartellone al prossimo Crossroad Guitar Festival a Settembre a Dallas in Texeas. Da non perdere…!! Ingresso € 20.00 - inizio concerti 21.30 Sabato 22 giugno La terza serata sarà aperta da una bella realtà acustica umbro/toscano che da qualche tempo si sta facendo conoscere nel panorama blues italiano per qualità e stile proposto: The Bus Drive is a Drunk, band anch’essa proveniente da Effetto Blues 2019; a seguire uno dei chitarristi blues italiani più in forma e seguito, Maurizio Pugno che dopo numerose collaborazioni, tra cui lo stesso Sugar Ray Norcia, si presenta al Torrita Blues con una formazione tutta sua: Pugno Blues Band. Il Torrita Blues 2019 sarà chiuso da una band stellare in esclusiva europea, tutta americana, composta da tre perle del blues mondiale che raramente riusciamo a vedere tutte insieme nella stessa serata: SUGAR RAY NORCIA & the BLUETONES, un grande armonicista che sarà affiancato da 2 chitarristi storici del blues americano, LITTLE CHARLIE BATY e DUKE ROBILLARD, artista pluripremiato per la sua musica e il suo impegno nel blues anche come produttore/songwriter, chitarrista dei Fabulous Thunderbirds al posto di Jimmy Vaughan, vanta collaborazioni con Pinetop Perkins, Jimmy Witherspoon, Ruth Brown o Jay McShann ad artisti come Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, John Hammond, e Scott Hamilton. Il padre chitarrista aveva calcato la scena musicale beat in Toscana negli anni sessanta e settanta, aprendo con la band “I Condor” i concerti dei grandi big in tour, Camaleonti, Ricchi e Poveri fino al mitico Adriano Celentano. È lui che gli insegna i rudimenti della sei corde e i primi accordi. Ben presto arriva all’ascolto di Stevie Ray Vaughan. Inizia a scoprire i classici del blues che stanno dietro all’indimenticabile guitar hero e si appassiona velocemente. Quei caldi pomeriggi estivi, passati a scoprire quel sound, quella lamentela ipnotica così rassicurante e così incredibilmente vicina a lui trascorrono veloci, fra dischi e corde arrugginite. I suoi primi idoli sono Buddy Guy, John Lee Hoocker, Albert King. Proprio quest’ultimo eserciterà un’influenza importante nell’approccio al Blues del giovane Simone. La force tranquille du Blues, quell’impostazione ricca di groove nell’estrema semplicità, le dinamiche mai gridate nella loro inarrestabile imponenza, la grande umiltà ed il sorriso sempre sulle labbra diventano un aspetto essenziale del suo playing.

    SUMMER 2012 & THE BLUES (Take 1) CHICAGO BLUES FESTIVAL 2012 : « THE » RENDEZ-VOUS DES AFICIONADOS ! Pour sa 29e édition, le Chicago Blues Festival a déroulé ses fastes du 08 au 10 juin dernier. Et, comme d’habitude, l’affiche était plus qu’alléchante, avec, entre autres, un hommage au Texas Blues, et en particulier à Lightnin’ Hopkins. Une conférence-débat avec Chris Strachwitz, le fondateur des disques « Arhoolie » et « Blues Classics », Roger Wood, auteur de « Texas Zydeco », « Down In Houston, Bayou City Blues » et « House of Hits », et Alan Govenar qui a notamment signé les ouvrages de référence « Texas Blues » et « Lightnin Hopkins – A Biography ». Des concerts de Texas Johnny Brown, Milton Hopkins, Jewel Brown, Rev. K.M.Williams, Diunna Greenleaf & Blue Mercy. Bref, paroles et musiques au plus haut niveau ! D’autres séances, « en mémoire de », se sont également succédées pour honorer Howling Wolf, avec une conférence débat en compagnie de Dick Shurman, Sterling Plumpp et Barbara Marks, une fille du « Wolf » ! Il y eut aussi un hommage à Hubert Sumlin, au travers d’un concert avec Bob Margolin, Eddie Shaw, Dave Specter, Bob Corritore, Bob Stroger, Kenny Smith. Le programme 2012 saluait aussi les disciples de Muddy Waters, soit les regrettés Pinetop Perkins, Willie Smith et Mojo Buford remis à l’honneur par Bob Margolin, Mud Morganfield, Kenny Smith, Barrelhouse Chuck, Bog Stroger, sans oublier la séance célébrant les regrettées divas du blues comme Koko Taylor avec Melvina Rodgers, Demetria Taylor, Deitra Farr, Nora Jean Bruso et Jackie Scott. Le succès phénoménal remporté par ces concerts hommages était amplement justifié.
