Herb will be 108 in November, and he says, “I’ve had a memorable life.” Indeed. His first job at age 12 was driving a truck for 15 cents an hour. Herb later joined Ralston Purina and went on to head the company. Eventually, he started his own agribusiness in Capistrano Beach and became active in Orange County real estate holdings. His family life has been active, too – 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren!

Herb’s endowment gift will greatly strengthen the future of Swim With Mike as the funds are invested in perpetuity and only the annual interest is pulled from the account. The corpus amount remains the same and will continue working to produce the annual interest. This is important because these funds provide a steady, predictable source of income over time, upon which our physically challenged athletes scholarship fund may make commitments and fortify the program.
