The current sunny days no longer leave anyone in doubt that we have summer here again. It is time of holidays and vacations that many people did not associate with the spa in the past. Even a number of our traditional visitors used to go to the sea in summer, and during the holidays they were particularly interested in stays in children‘s health resorts. But times are changing, and the spa is no longer just a place of healing, but also of prevention, rest and holidays. And summer is worth it. 6 At least in our country in Luhacovice and Jachymov. We have focused our attention there in the same direction. This year, we concentrated on the park under the Radium Palace and the communications in the park around the Agricola Spa Centre. There is a beautiful playground for children and a circuit for runners or small cyclists.

However, our summer investment break will not be time of inaction. It will be a period of preparation for autumn and winter projects as well as of long-term 8 strategic investments. Not only buildings need maintenance and renovation but also greenery needs it that is an integral part of the urban environment. In the spa, this is double true, because in addition to the aesthetic aspect, the positive effect of greenery on the well-being and inner balance of clients can not be neglected.

At the end of last year, a total revitalization of greenery and trees on terraces under the Radium Palace hotel was commenced. The author of the new concept is Ing. Romana Michalkova, a specialist in Landscape Ar- chitecture. The basic idea is to return to the regular and symmetrical style so as to re- store the original historical style from the 1920s when the slope was without high trees. Great emphasis will again be placed on the architectural design of the slope by means of balustrade walls, statues, vases and, above all, the hotel‘s free view.

Presentation of experience in Paris

With the participation of about 100 delegates from all over Europe, the 10th Annual Meeting of the Hotel & Spa Forum took place on the 1st June in the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris, where leading European personalities in the sphere of spa, hotel and wellness meet and exchange the experi- ence. 3 Investment priorities for the years 2017 and 2018

This year and the next year, Jachymov spa is going to spend more than CZK 56 million on the main investment projects. They link to the generous reconstruction of Radium Palace Spa Hotel **** (55 million CZK) and extension of the hotel Astoria *** (CZK 25.5 million.) In 2016. As an apprentice, he practiced in the most famous hotel in Karlovy Vary, the Grandhotel PUPP. After the training, he started to work as a chef at the Elwa Hotel in Karlovy Vary, and then followed the Swiss Hotel Mövenpick in Prague where he worked for about a year. He then lived abroad for 12 years, mostly in Germany, Switzerland and Kitzbühel in Austria. There he collected valuable experiences in renowned restaurants and learned alongside chef celebrities. 7 The impact of mobile devices on human health A mobile phone, tablet, or other form of mobile communication device has probably everyone. Today‘s technology is con- stantly evolving, improving communication between people and their surroundings, bringing information from around the world and saving time. The opening of the spa season, which took place on May 27 2017, culminated in the 150th birthday of Marie Curie-Sklo- dowska, whose discoveries are still key for our spa.

The whole event was started with a swing concert that put the first visitors into a mood of a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere, which in the positive sen- se interrupted the gunshots of the star- ting pistol of the children‘s and adult cy- cling race of the Madame Curie Cup. The solution is to ask the attending physician for spa care with a valid term in the off-season period. From November to March, the Luhacovice Spa joint-stock company has more free capacities for both adults and children, and it is a realistic assumption that the requirement for comprehensive spa care will be met. The advantage of the winter season is that you can also save a lot of money because the spa care paid by the health insurance company is in most capacities free of charge. This option is all year round, but in the main season the offer of capacities free of charge is shorter. In addition, in the case of people with chronic respiratory dis- eases, winter is particularly suitable for spa treatment, because the increased inversion load can be better overcome in pure air in Luhacovice.
