The H Dance team credits the success not only to the dancer’s diligence and dedication, but also to the team’s genuine chemistry. They are an extremely tight-knit group. They collectively stated what they enjoyed most about the sea- U son was the sleepovers and team bonding. Before every competition, to combat anxiety, they would huddle in a circle and encourage one another. Their obvious connec- S tion has undoubtedly heavily impacted their rise. Their road to success however has not been all fun and games; the team has had to commit serious time and effort to K rehearsals and have had to overcome serious injuries. Abbie, Lauren, and Shannon paired as a group, winning first in the district and silver in county. Jasmine chose to work on her own, placing second. The group of three chose to do a D project on how different foods and drinks affect the body over time. They found that coffee increases blood pressure while yogurt lowers it. Jasmine chose to learn about Vitamin C and how it affects a fruit’s water content. For one hour each day for a week, she would put a fruit containing Vitamin C over an apple. She E was able to conclude that oranges affect an apple’s water content the most. The science fair participants were given three weeks to make a project that they were passionate about. Abbie, Lauren, and Shannon chose their project because their project because their family members have gone through the struggle of having high blood pressure. Jasmine however was inspired by her mother because she cuts an apple each day for the family. These students will be given the opportunity to talk about their experience in the science fair to the kids at Saint Margaret Mary Elementary School. They hope to spark the interest of many people because they had a great experience participating in the science fair. The 2016 science fair was a great step forward for these four students who are passionate about science and its effect on the world.
