The present study deals with 29 lamiid species under 21 genera of Dooars, West Bengal, India. These include 4 newly recorded species, namely, Macrochenus isabellinus Aurivillius, Aesopida malasiaca Thomson, Pterolophia (Hylobrotus) lateralis Gahan and Nupserha quadrioculata (Thunberg) from India while 16 others (marked by ∙)fromthestate. 1. Introduction We (saving the second author) for nearly two decades are involved in the exploration of the long horn beetles of Subfamily Lamiinae (Cerambycidae) include members of flat the area. Present communication is one such outcome on the faced longhorn beetles that are both xylophagous and phy- lamiids dealing with 29 species under 21 genera. -

The effectiveness of the system was studied by tak- ing photos of 165 insect species including some subspecies from museum collections (105 Coleoptera, 11 Hemi ptera (Pentatomidae), 12 Hymenoptera, 10 Lepidoptera, 9 Mantodea, 4 Odonata, 13 Orthoptera, 1 Phasmatodea) and 16 living insect species (1 Lepidoptera, 3 Mantodea, 4 Orthoptera, 8 Phasmato- dea), from which four are exemplarily pictured herein. The system is based on a modifi ed standard consumer DSLR camera (Canon Rebel XSi), which was altered for two-channel colour infrared photography. The camera is especially sensitive in the spectral range of 700-800 nm, which is well- suited to visualize small scale spectral differences in the steep of increase in refl ectance in this range, as it could be seen in some species. Several of the investigated species show at least a partial infrared refl ectance. -

A Survey on the Longhorned Beetles Species (Cerambycidae) on Acacia Trees of Northern Kordofan State, Gum Arabic Belt-Sudan Maymoona Ahmed Eisa, Mechthild Roth
Tropentag, October 6-8, 2009, Hamburg “Biophysical and Socio-economic Frame Conditions for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources” A Survey on the Longhorned Beetles Species (Cerambycidae) on Acacia Trees of Northern Kordofan State, Gum Arabic Belt-Sudan Maymoona Ahmed Eisa, Mechthild Roth Technische Universit¨at Dresden, Institute of Forest Botany and Forest Zoology, Germany Abstract A field study was conducted in 2007 and 2008 in northern Kordofan state in the gum arabic belt (Sudan) on longhorned beetles (Cerambycidae), infesting Acacia species (A. se- negal, A. mellifera, A. seyal) connected with severe economical losses of gum Arabic yield. Study design focused on the assessment of pest species spectrum and infestation charac- teristics (e.g., number, location and direction of holes of infestation). Environmental and silvicultural parameters were measured to predict the infestation; those are crown size, crown diameter, tree age, tree temperature, tree height and dbh. Spectrum and relative abundance of pest species were determined by catch results of flight interception traps, microclimatic conditions by data loggers, silvicultural parameters of trees by direct mea- surements. Longhorned beetle species affecting Acacia senegal on the study sites were: Crossotus subocellatus (Fairmaire, 1886), Titoceres jaspideus (Audinet Serville, 1835), Crossotus albicollis (Gu´erin, 1844), Coelodon servum White, 1853, Doesus telephoroides Pascoe, 1862, Tithoes maculates (Fabricius, 1792), Crossotus strigifrons (Fairmaire, 1886). The results show that all of the Acacia tree species i.e. A. senegal, A. mellifera, and A. seyal indicate presence of holes of infestation by the longhorned beetles. Infestation rate of trees ranged between 20 and 100 % on the study sites (n = 6). -

Cho tới nay, chưa có nghiên cứu riêng nào về họ Xén tóc ở khu vực Tây Nguyên. A catalogue of the types of Lamiinae (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) housed in the Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Geneva. - A list is provided of 218 holotypes, the syntypes of 15 species and subspecies, and paratypes of 129 species and subspecies of the Lamiinae presently housed in the Muséum d'histoire naturelle, Geneva. Most of the names were published by S. Breuning. As the taxonomic treatment of the Lamiinae was often inade- quate it was necessary to check the original descriptions for all names listed. The authenticity of several "types" is found doubtful. They are indicated by "?HP" or "?PT". Unpublished information from labels is given in square brackets. Illegible handwritten text is indicated by the sign , When a description was published twice, a reference to the second description is given in parentheses. Separate lists are given for type material of varieties published before 1961, and for unavailable names published with designa- tion of type material. Key-words: Coleoptera - Cerambycidae - Lamiinae - type material. CATALOGUE OF THE CERAMBYCIDAE (COLEOPTERA) OF AUSTRALIA BY KEITH C. McKEOWN, F.R.Z.S., Assistant Entomologist. The Australian Museum. PUBLISHED BY ORDER OF THE TRUSTEES A. B. Walkom, D.%., Director. Sydney, May 2, I947 PREFACE. The accompanying Catalogue of the Cerambycidae is the first, dealing solely with Australian genera and species, to be published since that of Pascoe in 1867. Masters' Catalogue of the Described Coleoptera of Australia, 1885-1887, included the Cerambycidae, and was based on the work of Gemminger and Harold. A new catalogue has been badly needed owing to the large number of new species described in recent years, and the changes in the already complicated synonymy. The Junk catalogue, covering the Coleoptera of the world, is defective in many respects, as well as being too unwieldy, and too costly for the average Australian worker. Many of the references in the Junk catalogue are inaccurate, synonymy misleading, and the genera under which the species were originally described omitted, and type localities are not quoted. In this catalogue every care has been taken to ensure accuracy, and the fact that it has been used, in slip form, over a number.
