Additional activities includes preparation of the initial drafts of the Provincial-level crop modules for fi vc c..:"('ops in the Northeastel'n and Central Regions. The World Bunk loan for the ThaLland National Extension Improvement Project provided vehicles, equipment, and facilities to support the extension training project. The following vehicles were obtained: 130 Pickup trucks, 4 sedans, 45S motocycles, ilnd 19 ~icrobuses between December 1977 and February 1978. Agricultural chemicals and supplies were secured by December 1977. Audio Visual equipment bids were awarded in April 1978 and construction of Provincial and Amphur extension centers and the Regional training center began in the North­ eastern Region (DOAE Report, r,~bruary 13, 1978). ~':(nOAE Report, February 13, 1978) iN umber that completed courses -2-· The Project activities we!'e partially initiated prior to the signing of tll'.~ loan anc. durinp; the firs t year under the loan agreement, despite the un­ aVdilability of the National Extension Training Advisor. It was possible to obtain the quar.tit.]tive aspects of the Froject wlthou'C the National Extension Trainin~ Advisor; but it was not evid~nt that the qualitative aspects of the Project were reali~d. Table VI lists the trainir~ courses and the content of the courses. This data was collected and reported by Dr. Thanya Terasart ~pon the request of the [valuation Coml.li ttee. It is apparent that the successful activities of the Projec~ include staff recruitment, pre-~ervice training activities, in-service trainin~ activities, and initial module drafts. The ITICl~Or.' problems of the Project include the ~iminr, ot the tro.inir:~ courses, t~~ini~g expertise of provincial trainers and subject matter s~ecialists, and the effectiveness of the in-service courses for the Tambon level extension cfficers. 14. EVALUATION METHODOLOGY - Describe the metllods used for this evaluation, i.e., was it a rer,ular or special evaluation? W\lS it ill acco!'dance with the [valuation Plan in the PP with respect to timing, study desig~, scope, mc~hodology and issues? What kinds of data were used and how were they coll~cted and analyzed? Identify dgencies and key individuClIs participating and ccntributing. The Project Paper specified two major evaluations, one in June 1978 and in 1980. The USAIDiThailand and DOAE revised evaluation schedul~ specifies a ma~Qr evaluation in 1979 and at the end of the Project wIth an interim evalua­ tion (reduced in scope) in June 1978(C:udson letter ~lay 11, 1977). The interim evaluation is to assess the activities of the project completed to date and identify specific suggestions fer subsequent project activities.

Technical efficiency is measured by Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) using Cobb-Douglas and translog model with half- normal distributional assumption as well as multiple regression is used for analysing factors affecting technical inefficiency. Crossectional data is randomly obtained from 330 farms in Yasothon province, which is consisted of 165 conventional farms and 165 certified organic farms. Data is collected in the crop year 2005/06. According to the results, labor, seed, and organic fertilizer are much more important factors on organic jasmine rice production than on conventional one. Based on elasticities of variables, the key factors affecting technical inefficiency on conventional farms are management characteristics, input and knowledge on agriculture supported by government, location, and agricultural training.

Year 2013 _____________________________________________________________________ Research on the systems regarding the anti-corruption regime and corruption resolution in local self-government: A case study of Sub-District Administrative Organizations (SAO) in the Southern part of the Northeastern region of Thailand aims to study the following: 1) Forms of corruption within the Sub-District Administrative Organizations. 2) Anti-corruption systems in Thailand. 3) Problems in the anti- corruption regime and corruption resolution within Sub-District Administrative Organization. A qualitative research method was employed to study documents regarding the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) pressing charges and cases are still undergoing investigations, and also by interviewing 63 key informants with the following results: 1) Most forms of corruption acts within SAOs were mostly related to procurement procedure bidding and hiring and employment cases, and also the misappropriation of income of SAOs and documentation fraud. Third place in the rankings are cases related to bribery regarding promotions and appointments. Most of the cases were against the Chief Executives of the SAOs and most of the acts were done in collaboration with other related personnel such as government officers, employees and other SAO officers.

    Chapter History of the Development of Thai Traditional Medicine, Indigenous Medicine and 1 Alternative Medicine 1.1 Introduction In the society of each nation and language, there is a learning process for accumulating human experiences until they become arts, technology, morality, laws, beliefs, customs, and traditions, which are instilled and transmitted continually from generation to generation. Th ey have become ways of life or living traditions commonly adopted in society until they become a social identity so-called culture. Any old culture that has advanced consistently with material, spiritual and mental prosperity to a full extent becomes civilization. In Th ai society, there are diverse cultures, each with its identity; some of them have advanced and civilized as “Th ai ways of life”, including cultures and traditions related to religions, indigenous beliefs, architecture, dramatic arts and music, national dresses and habits, etc. Another signifi cant feature of civilization is that it originated when humans were able to get settled permanently in a comfortable and safe environment rich in four basic needs for human life, namely food, clothing, shelter and medicine. 1 Thai Traditional and Alternative Health Profi le, 2009-2010 Implicitly, in the process of seeking security of the four basic human needs, traditional medicine originated in Th ai society through the learning and development of drug formulas and arts for health care. In particular, the evolution of traditional medicine to become present-day Th ai traditional medicine has been linked to the old civilization of Buddhism as well as Hinduism for more than 2,000 years, without taking into consideration health-care practices derived from trial-and-error experiences in local cultures of each region so-called indigenous medicine, which had a long period of evolution before the mainstream religious beliefs came into Th ai society.
