August 1969 PREFACE

This bibliography is comprised of references used in the preparation of the nine model teacher education programs funded by the Bureau of Research, U. S. Office of Education.

The nine models were developed in 1968 as a result of the Office of Education's recognition of the need for improvement in elementary teacher education. The models were prepared under the title, "Comprehensive Undergraduate and Inservice Teacher Education Program for Elementary Teachers,"by seven universities, a consortium, and a regional educational laboratory.

The following citations, as prepared and presented by the Bureau of Research, have been organized into four topics:

I. "The Nature and Training of Teachers: A Bibliography for Teacher Education."

II. "Education and Educational Practices: A Bibliography for Teacher Education."

III. "Educational Psychology: A Bibliography for Teacher Education."

IV. "Educational Technology: A Bibliography for Teacher Echication."

This bibliography was made possible by the many persons who developed the nine models and by James Schaefer Jr., student assistant, Bureau of Research, who compiled the more than 1,500 entries. The ERIC Clearinghouse on Teacher Education provided sme technical assistance in this effort.

The nine models now are available through the ERIC system in either hard copy or microfiche. They may be ordered from: EDRS, The National Cash Register Company, 4936 Fairmont Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland 20014.

The reports have also been reprinted with a honeycomb binding by the Government Printing Office (GPO) and may be ordered from:The Superintendent of Documents, U. S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D. C. 20402.

The reports must be ordered by number. Any requests without order numbers will be returned. Abstracts of the nine models may be found in Research in Education, the ERIC abstract journal, under the cited "ED" numbers.

The reports are available at the following prices:
