Welcome to LT’s 17th trip to Cuernavaca, since our relationship with Universidad Internacional began in March, 1987! Students will experience an all-inclusive two week immersion trip, live with a host family, study Spanish at Universidad Internacional in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and take excursions after school and on the weekends.

Students live with a roommate from our LT group and have their own bedroom, private bathroom and wifi. Our students assimilate into the families immediately, enjoy all meals with them and form a long-lasting bond. The families transport our students to and from school every day as well as to and from their evening activity, with a daily 9pm curfew.

In school our students enjoy a maximum Student-Teacher ratio of 5:1! The instructors are engaging and involve our students in dynamic and interactive lessons with their class and with the high school students from Universidad Internacional’s private high school, BIU. The school is also equipped with student access to wifi.

After school and on the weekends we travel together to experience the art, architecture, history, archeology and beauty of Cuernavaca, and . Some of the activities include: Taxco and silver, the murals of in Mexico city, the magical city of Tepoztlán, the of Teotihuacán and a balneario (better than a water park) to celebrate our successes and swim in the crystal clear waters at El Río Las Estacas, just like Johnny Weissmuller did in the 1930s Tarzan movie. In 2015 we began a service component to our trip with a visit to the Orphanage Los Pequeños Hermanos. We begin with a guided tour of the and end spending time with the children and a few life-sized piñatas that we bring with us.

Students have a nightly curfew of 9pm which allows for plenty of free time to explore the downtown area of Cuernavaca, see a movie, go bowling, play mini-golf, catch up on missed homework from LT or hang out and relax with the host family. DATES: March 16-March 30, 2019 PLACE: Cuernavaca, Mexico PURPOSE: Improve language acquisition and cultural awareness through two weeks of study at Universidad Internacional while living with host families and participating in group excursions. http://www.spanishschool.uninter.edu.mx/ Mrs. JoEllen Gregie, Director Mrs. Ellen Acuña, Assistant Director Eligibility: Be enrolled in Spanish IIA and above or Spanish for Spanish Speakers throughout the entire school year and maintain a “C” in EACH class from 1st quarter through departure.

How acceptance is determined: Current teachers, counselors, Assistant Principals and social workers will be contacted for their recommendations based on, but not limited to, the following: Cooperation and flexibility Motivation and dependability (includes attention to detail and deadlines) Maturity and sensitivity (to other cultures and each other) Ability to function independently and work in group situations Grades, behavior and attendance Academic concerns/successes

How students maintain the privilege to travel It is expected that students maintain their good standing, both academic and behavior, between the time of application and departure. Our research shows that students who attend all group meetings in order to fully prepare for international travel will understand our expectations while traveling, assimilate into the school, family and culture more easily and become flexible group travelers. There is a direct correlation between this and each student’s capacity to learn and be successful on this trip. To that end, our meetings are mandatory and all coaches will accept passes for late arrival to practice.
