Looking Back at Dewey and Review of Dewey’s Best Field Looking Ahead to Nichols Trips for K-5th Graders By GIles Gilbert Bartell By Sage V. Davis

Field trips are really fun because we get out of Dewey students, you’re really going to like the class. So, that made me think, “if I could tell Emily Oaks Nature Center. They have an apple younger students what field trips to look forward orchard! Though I don’t remember much more to, which would they be? And when?” Well I about that either. wrote this article to do so. We got to see dolphins and Chicago. At the time I loved trains so back then, colorful fish. And we even saw a hammerhead it was EPIC! shark! During the field trip, my Dad took me back to his office, where he worked for the U.S. Now that I’m in 5th grade, I can honestly say Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under that my favorite was – and maybe yours will be – President Obama saving the Great Lakes. Camp Timber-Lee. We got to stay there for two whole days! The food is great and Carpetball is a fun game. The cabins were huge, but we didn’t sleep much.

In 1st grade, we went to see some good ol’ Chi- nese Acrobatics. I don’t remember anything about it though. Looking back, I have really liked Dewey for more reasons than can fit in this article, but one reason The Whiz was a play we saw in 2nd grade. It was is the field trips. You will like them, too. The Best of Camp Timber-lee! By Charlie Kalil and Henry Rouch

Camp Timber-lee was amazing! The whole 5th grade was buzzing with excitement. But four days before we left we got a bit of a disappointing announcement, we may not be going! But, on Friday, three days before we left, we got an amazing email, we would be going!

The Food The food was absolutely splendid! We didn’t try a single thing that we didn’t love. We also had a great time with the hot sauce bottles on the table :) The burgers were our favorite main course while the “potato cheese sauce scoopers” were the best of the appetizers. Also the juice machine that they had was LIT. They had a LOT of juices.

The Activities The classes weren’t your ordinary boring math and writing classes, they were much much better. In Leathercraft you get to make your own leather souvenir to take home. In Animal Encounters you meet and hold all kinds of animals from snakes to turtles to Neil the Ring-Necked Dove. (Neil is awesome, so is Lance the Ferret.) In Wilderness Survival you learn how to start your very own warm ball of light! (a.k.a. fire)

At Night After all your daytime activities are done you go on a night hike! It is so peaceful at night to hear the sounds of the birds and the water and to see the lights back at camp. The occasional airplane will fly over, which is also strangely peaceful. After the night hike you eat s’mores! ( I don’t think an explanation is necessary.)

The Cabins After you are done hiking and stuffing your face with s’mores, you head back to your cabins. The boys cabin was amazing! It was a circular cabin with a huge common room with couches and a fireplace in the middle. Around the common room there were rooms with bunks and a chapel/ meeting room.

Camp Timber-lee was an amazing experience, we just wish it was longer!

Dewey’s Got Talent By Daniel Green

Where were you during the Dewey Talent Show? I was in the audience as an act for most of the time, and people were really showing what they could do!

Some of the highlight acts were some of the first acts, and that must have been because the first ten acts or so were kindergarteners and first graders. The 6th act was Henry Arehart reading a Shel Silverstein poem about a lightbulb that plugged into the sun. The 8th act, Isaac Lefkovitz singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” while playing it on the guitar, was very impressive for a first grader – what he lacked in height he more than made up for in skill. Another great act was the 10th one, when Alex Martin played “Allegro” on the violin – I’m 4 years older than him and still not as good at it as he was!

Then there were the older kids’ acts, which were great as well. Wren Cohen’s act, which involved singing a Minecraft song that she wrote herself while her dad played the guitar, was a memorable act simply because she wrote the song herself, and that’s hard – I’ve tried! The 33rd act, which was Evan Clancy and Kalil performing a mirror act, was very detailed – they even wore the same clothes! The puppet show performed by Mike Alvarez and Warren Liddell, was perfectly timed because it was about peace and it was on Peace Day.

Another great act was Ron Israeli break dancing to “Sweet Dreams”, but I was in line to go up so I couldn’t see much of it. The little bit of it that I saw was amazing though!

Being onstage was sort of nerve-racking, partly because of the 5-minute wait that felt like forever when I was in line, and partly because of the audience of so many people that were staring up at us. But the pressure is always worth it for the applause you get at the end!

Another amazing one was Leela Wittenberg-Trubowitz and Katie Schober’s act, a sort of a panto- mime skit where they held up signs that went along with the lyrics of “Dr. Worm”. It has become my top favorite song because of that!

But I think everyone can agree that the top act was Leo Webster singing his self-written song, “Ode to Dewey”, which was sort of a goodbye song because he would be going on to Nichols in about a month from then, and he was reflecting on some of his favorite memories and events.

The Deadliest Missile By Theodore Robinson with Graham Johnson

Nuke missiles like the ugm-133 Trident II should not exist. Missiles are weapons of mass destruc- tion. They could possibly destroy the earth and there would be no more peace and nature. The ugm-133 Trident can blow up an area more than 7,456 miles and can travel 18,030 mph.

Because of this weapon, regular warfare can lead to nuclear warfare. It is also unsafe that something like an accident could happen. What if a skate- board was accidentally left around and someone tripped, hit the launch lever, and the missile hit another country? They would think we did it on purpose then launch one back and boom, nucle- ar warfare! You could be dead right now because they exist. So, they are too dangerous and should not exist. ugm-133 Trident II The Multiverse By Robert Razdolsky

Many astrophysicists believe that there is a place/dimension called the Multiverse. Before we talk about it imagine this. The universe is a small bubble, tiny. A bubble in a huge ocean. That is the Multiverse. A transdimensional place that is a gateway to all the other universes. Every universe is a bubble, in a cosmic ocean. There is a very good chance that there is life in another universe. But how can we get out of ours? Well, if we fly directly into a wormhole or a black hole. We could exit our universe and come into another bubble, or the ocean. But are all the bubble edges shields? Not allowing anyone in or out? If then, will we be stuck in this timeless ocean? What is outside the ocean? Another planet? If that, does it mean that our oceans contain universes? It is unknown. What is in all the other universes? It is unknown.

How large is our universe? It is probably small compared to others. Our solar system is held in a region of stardust and space residue called the Oort Cloud. No one has seen it. If we fly past that, we have to get past the millions of galaxies until we reach the edge. Faster-than-light travel will help, but it proba- bly will still take millions of years. Outside the universe we would find the anti universes. It is a theory that if we make an action, a second universe will be created where the anti self will do it oppositely (Say you lift your left arm, the anti self lifts their right arm.) If you meet your anti self, you shouldn’t shake hands. You will vanish with your anti self. But, the majority of universes aren’t anti. But I believe you The submarine that launches the ugm-133 Trident II can access every universe in death. I believe that after you die your ghost finds its way to a gate, but not a gate. A place of nothingness. With openings to the Multiverse. More scientifically, clocks would be there, and answers would be revealed. But this is all a theory, conjured up in my universe of a head. It is similar to 2001: A Space Odyssey. You could become an observer and influencer after death, like the monoliths in the movie. Anything is possible after “death” Is it an ending, or a beginning?

The Story Behind Slime — The Multiverse could contain every answer, any key to any place, any thing. All we have to do is get there, then, we will learn, the human race will possibly evolve into a more intelligent race, like the apes in 2001. We could connect with the dead, or time would become a physical thing or And It’s Not Good! noticeable event instead of an impossible paradox, like in Interstellar. Anything can happen when By Mira Slayton and Eleanor Dillow we get to the Multiverse.

Now most of you know that slime is a big trend, but it can also be dangerous. The original recipe of slime contains a very dangerous ingredient called borax. Greek Gods By Cassidy Donovan, Sylvia Wallace and Sienna Mason

Do you want to know about the Greek Gods? Like Poseidon, Athena, Hades, and especially Zeus? Here is a table of how the Gods are related:

When the time came for Athena to be born, the smith god, Hephaistos, opened Zeus’ head with an axe, and Athena stepped out, in full armor from the head of her father, Zeus.
