Huronia La fondation Community communautaire Foundation de la Huronie ANNUAL REPORT 2011 - 2012 Twelve Years Over $700,000 in Grants OUR VISION To bring donors and charities together to enrich lives in Huronia. OUR MISSION To support and sustain Huronia forever by accepting, building and managing financial gifts, investing them for long term growth, and distributing the earnings to local charities based on their needs and the needs of our community. Message from the President & Executive Director There is much to celebrate at Huronia Community Foundation! Through the generosity of our donors, our endowments funds approach $2 million Arts & and our impact on the community since 2001 is more than $700,000 Other Culture in grants to local charities. Additionally, by managing the funds of the Cedar Ridge Pops and the Southern Georgian Bay Physician Education Recruitment programs, we have helped them allocate more than $1 million combined. We continue to collaborate with our neighbouring foundations – Orillia, Barrie and Bradford to increase the awareness and understanding of Environment & the role of community foundations in Simcoe County through the HUB Animal Welfare project. We also are exploring the opportunities to expand our support Sports & to the communities of Collingwood and Wasaga Beach as they look to Recreation establish community funds. Our expansion to these areas will be part of our participation in the Community Foundations of Canada “Smart and Caring Communities” program. George Cornell, our President for the past two years, will be stepping down from this role but will continue to work with the foundation as our immediate Past President. Anita Dubeau will transition from her role as Vice President to President. We are all very excited to welcome Anita as our new President as she brings excellent community leadership and commitment to the position. Our Board will also be expanding as we welcome five new members, Fiona Cascagnette, Kris Eacott, Barbara Jones, Lisa McFayden and Sheila Storey. We extend our appreciation to the many community members, organizations and businesses that have supported our efforts over the past year. We appreciate your contributions and the commitment you have made as supporters of our mission. It is this spirit of philanthropy that drives our organization. We look forward to continuing our work together to provide leadership in meeting the needs of our community well into the future. The funds granted come from Unrestricted Funds, Field of Interest Funds and Flow-through Funds. A big Thank You to all donors – you make the work of granting possible! This spring we were able to provide grants to 11 of the 18 applicants – we never seem to have as much money as we have valuable programs to support!
