From Narita Airport to Choshi 1 From Narita Airport to Choshi 1. From the Narita Airport, take a rapid (local) JR train. Do not take an airport express ("Narita Express") or the Keisei Line. A particular station at which you take a train depends on your air carrier: the "Narita Air- port station" (for arrivals at the Terminal #1) or the "Airport Terminal #2 station". The destination of the rapid train is "Tokyo", "Ofuna", "Zushi", "Yokosuka" or "Kurihama", as in the timetable below. Train timetable: Weekdays, weekends and holidays Narita Airport Airport Terminal #2 JR Narita JR Sakura JR Choshi 07:00 (for Zushi) 07:02 07:11/07:28 ========> 08:50 07:56 (for Kurihama) 07:59 08:14/08:18 ========> 09:49 09:04 (for Ofuna) 09:07 09:15/09:39 ========> 10:59 10:00 (for Zushi) 10:03 10:12/10:40 ========> 11:57 11:00 (for Tokyo) 11:03 ==========> 11:26/11:31 12:56 12:00 (for Kurihama) 12:03 12:11/13:03 ========> 14:33 13:00 (for Zushi) 13:03 ==========> 13:24/14:02 15:38 14:00 (for Kurihama) 14:03 14:11/14:49 ========> 16:09 15:00 (for Kurihama) 15:03 15:11/15:39 ========> 16:53 16:00 (for Kurihama) 16:03 16:12/16:39 ========> 17:56 17:00 (for Kurihama) 17:02 17:11/17:39 ========> 18:59 18:00 (for Kurihama) 18:02 ==========> 18:24/18:40 20:10 18:28 (for Yokosuka) 18:31 18:42/18:45 ========> 19:59 19:00 (for Yokosuka) 19:02 19:11/19:57 ========> 21:11* 19:00 (for Yokosuka) 19:02 ==========> 19:24/19:42 20:42*# 19:00 (for Yokosuka) 19:02 ==========> 19:24/19:59 21:19* 20:07 (for Ofuna) 20:10 20:19/20:24 ========> 21:41 21:14 (for Tokyo) 21:16 ==========> 21:38/21:59 23:14 22:16 (for Tokyo) 22:19 ==========> 22:44/22:54 00:09 * Either changing the train at the Narita or Sakura station is fine. # Extra fare (900 yen) is needed from the Sakura station for a non-reserved seat of the express ("Shiosai" #11). You can pay it to the conductor on the express. 2. Changing the train: The Narita station is two stations away from the Narita Airport station and the next to the Airport Terminal #2 station. At the Narita station, a train from the airport arrives at either the track #1 or #3, and a train for Choshi departs at either the track #2, 3 or 5. At the Sakura station, which is four stations away from the Narita Airport station, a train from the airport arrives at either the track #1 or #2, and a train for Choshi leaves at either the track #3 or 4. At each of the stations, there must be an elec- tronic board showing train departure information, or ask a station crew. Choshi is the final stop for those trains. 3. Train ticket: One-way fare from the airport to the Choshi station is 1,280 yen if you change the train at the Narita station or it is 1,450 yen if you do so at the Sakura station. Use a ticket machine that urges you to choose the fare for your destination but not the destination itself. Or if purchasing a ticket at the counter, be sure to tell where you are changing the train. With such a short-distance ticket as the one between Narita and Choshi, you are not allowed to get out of a station in waiting for the next train. If you would like to visit the Shinshoji Temple, for example, you have to buy a ticket from the airport to the Narita station, and then purchase another to Choshi at that station after visiting the temple. ** If you want to keep your train ticket as a receipt, do not exit through a ticket gate. Ask a station crew. Hopefully s/he will understand, stamp it and give it back to you. 4. If you miss a JR train for the Narita station, you may consider taking the Keisei line, which runs almost in parallel with the JR line between the airport and Narita city. Timetable is shown below. One-way fare from the Airport to the Keisei Narita station is 250 yen, and it costs 1,110 yen from the JR Narita station to Choshi. Note that it takes seven minutes or so to walk from the Keisei Narita station to the JR Narita sta- tion. See the map below. Narita Airport Airport Terminal #2 Keisei Narita JR Narita JR Choshi 11:42 (via Keisei Line) 11:44 11:50 (walk) 12:03 13:24 12:22 (via Keisei Line) 12:24 12:30 (walk) 13:03 14:33 14:22 (via Keisei Line) 14:24 14:30 (walk) 14:49 16:09 19:30 (via Keisei Line) 19:32 19:39 (walk) 19:57 21:11 5. Taxi fare from the Narita Airport to Choshi is about 15,000 yen. Unfortunately, there is no highway bus service from the airport to Choshi. From the JR Choshi Station to the hotel 1. It takes about five minutes from the JR Choshi Station to Hotel Sunrise Choshi. See the map above. Pictures at ``A’’, ``B’’, ...etc. are shown below. 2. The hotel’s name is ``Hotel Sunrise Choshi’’ and its number is (0479)-25-7070. (0479) is not necessary within the city of Choshi. A B C D E F G H I From Tokyo to Choshi 1. If you go to Choshi after staying in Tokyo or taking a domestic flight to the Tokyo Haneda Airport, take an express train from the JR Tokyo station that leaves at the underground-level track #2 for the Sobu line. The Choshi station is the final stop for the express trains "Shiosai". It costs 3,510 yen, including the extra fare for a non-reserved seat of the express. The extra fare (1,300 yen) can be paid aboard to the con- ductor, once you take the train with a ticket for 2,210 yen. The Tokyo station is three stations away for a local northbound train of the JR Yamanote (from track #3) or Keihin-Tohoku line (from track #4, or the next stop for a rapid train of the Keihin-Tohoku line) from the Hamamatsu-cho station, the terminal of the monorail line from the Haneda airport. Tokyo Choshi Tokyo Choshi 07:36 ("Shiosai" #1) 09:30 09:40 ("Shiosai" #3) 11:31 11:40 ("Shiosai" #5) 13:35 13:40 ("Shiosai" #7) 15:29 15:40 ("Shiosai" #9) 17:31 18:45 ("Shiosai" #11) 20:42 20:10 ("Shiosai" #13) 22:02 21:35 ("Ayame" #5) 23:42* *The extra fare is only 900 yen. Take a seat in a car for Choshi not for Naruto. 2. An alternative way is to take a highway bus to Choshi. It leaves the bus pool #1 in a bus terminal adjacent to the Hamamatsu-cho station Bus stop for both the JR lines and Haneda Airport monorail line and then (from Tokyo) makes a brief stop at the east (Yaesu-guchi) exit of the JR Tokyo Bus stop (to station. The Hamamatsu-cho bus terminal is located at the ground Tokyo) level of the Trade Center building. One- way fare is 2,500 yen to the Hotel Higashi-Shiba-cho bus stop near the JR Choshi station. It will be a Sunrise 2.5-hour bus ride from Tokyo, followed by a 7-minute walk to the Hotel Sunrise (see the map and timetable). Take a local JR train from the Choshi station to the JR Narita or Sakura station, where you change to a rapid (local) JR train to the airport. A particular station at which you get off a train depends on your air carrier: the "Narita Airport station" (for departures from the Terminal #1) or the "Airport Terminal #2 sta- tion", either for the JR or Keisei line.
